Filed under: News , Exclusive Ida Maria has a thing for older men -- or at least one older man in particular. She's crazy for James Osterberg Jr. -- better known as Iggy Pop . "I would love to do a duet with Iggy Pop," the Norwegian rocker tells Spinner. "I'm kind of trying to get hold of him. I don't know who his manager is." Maria saw Pop perform last summer and was so awestruck by his talent, she wanted to cancel her [...]
Mp3: Ida Maria - Morning Light [...]

Ida Maria ::: Photo By Josh Sunday Night's two-band bill at the Crocodile was sponsored by the End 107.7 and titled "Are You On The List?" Apparently all you had to do email DJ harms to get on the list. Sweet. Lesli Wood's new band the Redwood Plan had the opening honors and they didn't waste the opportunity to pick up some new fans. Lesli was a natural front-woman behind the Les Paul for the now defunct Ms. Led, but now largely freed from guitar duty she positively bounces while handling the synth. [...]

It's a bit late, but I promised: The monthly mix is back! I’ve entitled it Let Love Rule after a line in an Alphabeat track early in the mix. The title encompasses its loose theme; it is about the deceptive similarities between love and lust. Cupid is featured on the cover (below) because - aside from the obvious - he is referenced in two tracks of the mix. The painting is called “ A Young Girl Defending Herself Against Eros ” which, even in title, completely conveys the main conflict that binds together all [...]

MySpace If I were a more paranoid person, I'd say that Norway's Ida Maria was deliberately avoiding me. Back in March, she was a no-show for both her official SxSW showcases showcases and at almost the same time, she cut her stint as opener for Glasvegas to just a handful of dates, dropping off the tour just a couple shows before she'd have played Toronto. Maddening, right? Getting a handle on her debut album Fortress 'Round My Heart really isn't any simpler. It [...]

Photos by Josh Somehow camera got switched out of 'M' and on to 'A' for some of the unexpectedly great Ida Maria show last night at the Croc, but it did produce interesting results. During her signature song, a fan decided to take the words to heart and... well... you can see the rest for yourself.
Norway's Ida Maria sat down with MTV.com to talk about seeing music and hearing colors (without the aid of mind-altering substances), how to avoid wounding yourself onstage and her preference for men to be sans clothing. So if you're looking for a lady -maybe some foreign- prone to hallucinations and accidents and is pro-nudity this is your girl. See, there is someone out there for everybody.
Wow there was a lot to choose from this weekend, including just hanging out in your friend's back yard pondering how to make it to all the shows happening this summer (yay warm weather tour season!). By the looks of Amelia Gyde's photos from Friday's Lonely Forest / New Faces show at Vera... that *might* have been the place to be Friday night. It also sounds like Bloc Party was stellar on Saturday night and last night, Redwood Plan tore it up at the Crocodile with Ida Maria. What did you see / do this weekend? [...]

Filed under: News , Exclusive , Television The ' Wolverine ' has nothing on the rocker chick from Norway. When hot new singer Ida Maria dedicated 'I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked' to Hugh Jackman Monday night during her performance on 'The Tonight Show,' the Australian actor, who was sitting on Jay Leno's couch, turned to mush. Whenever she plays the tongue-in-cheek rocker, "I always try to stare at the most self-confident man in the room and check out how he reacts," [...]

Ida Maria performs "I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked" on the April 21 episode of the Tonight Show.

Annie Musselman Prior to last year, M Ward's career path was one of fairly slow and steady growth. His earlier works cultivated a mysterious, almost baroque tone and largely showcased his instrumental virtuosity and occasionally his world-worn rasp. Subsequent works found him acting as a sort of musical time capsule, an archivist for music of bygone eras of Americana country and folk whose increasingly confident singing and songwriting allowed him to not only pay tribute to, but contribute to that canon. She & Him , his 2008 collaboration with singer-actress [...]
More Ahead of the Curve goodness this time from Ida Maria who, after watching this video, are the band we would most enjoy running into in a dark alley. Urgent, confident and dead sexy this is what rock should be about in 2009.
The appeal of Ida Maria's ode to disrobing is pretty obvious and it hits you the first time you hear that shouted chorus, "I like you so much better when you're naked." Oh, we could go on and talk about the obvious Jam-ness of her backing band, and talk about Maria's smoky, husky, and rude voice, but, let's be honest here: This song would go nowhere if the chorus was something like, "I like you so much better when you're not watching sports with your stupid friends," or, "I like you so much better when you're paying attention to [...]

Other than Monks , and Metric I didn't get a chance to listen to that much from this past week, so as usual, I'll let Drake do most of the talking. Just a couple of tidbits from me: 1) Much to the delight of bloggers everywhere (and especially Bill P ), Ida Maria 's " Fortress Round My Heart " finally got a proper US release this (past) week on Mercury Records; 2) Speaking of "proper releases", Canada's Metric went label-less with their new record and it [...]

Saturday afternoon bloomed hotter than Friday at Coachella (and today temperatures promise to reach triple-digits), but the heat hardly discouraged early arrivers to the tents, where Ida Maria , Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti and the Bob Mould Band had the most promising early sets. Stickers touting Ida Maria's chorus "I Like You Better When You're Naked" seemed to be everywhere. Ariel Pink [above] is not be ready to graduate from small-tent status, but it might not be long. His quintet makes sometimes-beautiful, sometimes-shambolic psych-pop, and Pink commanded the stage as if [...]
