![[Introducing] – Just Another Snake Cult](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3434925_lg.jpg)
Tweet Somewhere between the quirky pop sensibility of Mull Historical Society and the actual insanity of The Fiery Furnaces ' "Blueberry Boat" lies the work of Thorir Bogason, otherwise known as Just Another Snake Cult. I wasn't aware that there were particularly many snake cults still around these days, but I'm delighted that there's another one. Sometimes music just makes you grin like an idiot. Born in Iceland (Maybe it's something in the water? Bjork's pretty cuckoo, right?) but raised in California, Thorir [...]
Everyone's favourite European city? Well, I'll let the jury decide on that one... It certainly is mine and the naming of EDM tracks after the city of Amsterdam just gets longer and longer by the month load... Vadim Dreamer on the other hand (no relation to Livin' Joy by the way!) flips us a dreamy, notation-filled melody of ultra bliss, and their assistants in crime - After Meridian & Dave Costa do exactly the same thing but take it onwards to those places that all trancers and EDM (Electronic Dance Music) nuts know all about! [...]

![Various Artists: Wish I'd Kept A Scrapbook (A Tribute to Tullycraft) [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2671737_lg.jpg)
When I saw there was a new compilation devoted to hailing one of the greatest northwest bands of all time (yes, Tullycraft ), I got pretty excited. When I saw that the tracklist included bands from famed labels like Tullycraft's very own Magic Marker Records, as well as HHBTM, Matinee, and even recent favorite weePOP, my excitement blew through the roof. Look down the track list (it's at the end of this review... I'll forgive you for pausing to check it out) and you'll see some of the greatest indie pop and modern [...]

My discovery of Iji is one I feel pretty good about. Like any other regular music blogger, I listen to a bunch of new stuff every week, easily more than half of which I've never heard of before. My inbox and mailbox regularly fill with albums by bands and musicians I could spend the rest of my life name-dropping to smug satisfaction, even to the aloof aesthetes who run the baddest-ass of indie record stores, fully secure I got the drop on them. I can't really take credit for, well, any of those discoveries. Rather, these [...]

I don't know how it happened, but half the year officially is over! That means that we're half way to end of the year list time! I know that for a bunch of us, there are few things we love more than lists and mix tapes (I usually make a mix for friends of my year-end list favorites) -- so it makes sense we should do a mid-year check in and see what's topping our Best of 2009 list. Here's my off-the-cuff list of what albums would vying for Top 10 of 2009 in my book: [...]
Huge mega thank yous to everyone who joined us this past Saturday for the Three Imaginary Girls' Top of the Croc party, celebrating the grandest of re-openings of the Crocodile. The night featured stellar performances from iji, BOAT, Tullycraft, and "Awesome". Since we're a little biased with how much fun the night was, we wanted to share some of what a couple other fine Seattle reporting establishments had to say about the night: * Seattle Bids Twee Adieu {The Finest Kiss} * Tullycraft's Last Seattle Show at the New Crocodile {Megan [...]
Huge thanks to everyone that came out to the Crocodile on Saturday night! It was wonderful to have all of our favorite folks in one place at the same time. We hope that you had a tasty (and commemorative) Top Pot doughnut and a Vain updo? And most of all, we hope you had as much fun welcoming the Crocodile back as we did. If you've got any pictures you want to share, add them to the Three Imaginary Girls Sparkly Indie-Pop Photo Pool group on Flickr. We'll be gathering all the photos in the coming [...]

There are so many reasons to join us at the Crocodile to mark its grand re-opening in imaginary style, but one of the reasons I'm most excited is the chance to see my newest favorite band, iji (pronounced eehee), take the swank new Crocodile stage. read more

No, this isn't Gorilla vs Bear. It's just a polaroid someone took of the band. Justin from Fishboy suggested this one to me. I swear, soon this will turn into a blog within a blog of just things he's passed along to me. MP3: Iji - Singalong As I've grown older, I've also grown my cynical. Sad [...]
