With the festival season beckoning, the seasonal weather up north has brightened up as some of the brightest upcoming stars look to start their summer crawl on Saturday the 5th of May at Live at Leeds , the same weekend as Camden Crawl and ahead of other upcoming major city festivals. With this 1-day line-up arguably looking stronger than the London weekend this year, it's difficult to see why you wouldn't drop up for the day, especially with so many bustling venues in the Leeds city centre within a short walking distance. Beginning [...]

I'm struggling to remember a review that has taken so long to form in my tiny little mind (something you'll doubt when you've read it). This is mainly due to the amount of re-learning, even retraining, The Shallows has demanded. So the day comes when you get wind that one of your favourite bands is making a new album and you fall into the requisite states of excitement and anticipation. When it finally arrives in your world – as this did, shamefully, some time ago now – and you hit play for the first time, expectations [...]

A few more hours and it's weekend. Though I hardly drank any alcohol, I'm still trying to recover from that trip to London . Think I've listen to the I Like Trains track I posted earlier today at least 30 times. It really is that fabulous... Because a few of you said so , I actually bothered and gave the new album by The Shins a few listens. No exactly impressed, but promise [...]
Stream new I Like Trains single Mnemosyne . Not half as sad as I expected it to be (though I'm not completely sure about the vocals) and at least twice as brilliant as I hoped it would be! From the band's forthcoming album The Shallows ... I Like Trains - Mnemosyne

Facebook / iliketrains.co.uk/ I Like Trains have announced their much awaited come back, third album 'The Shallows' is due for release May 7th via the bands own I Like Records label and is available for pre-order now , lead track "Mnemosyne" is due for release the same day and highlights something of a departure in the brooding post-rock (once again) five pieces' sound (seemingly Ian Jarrold previously of Redjetson has made the jump from live member to full-time addition to the iLT). For want of a better word [...]

The Procast is so called because this week has been an awfy professional one. The third Meursault album is approaching, and because there are publishers, managers, bookers and all sorts involved in this one we had to have a Serious Meeting about it and make sure the planning was all being done properly. We did all the grown-up stuff like minute the meeting, assign people deliverables and all sorts of stuff. It was the closest to being back at my old job that I have experienced since I left, in all honesty - lists, management, timescales, budget discussions [...]

Because people's music tastes differ, and not everyone likes Kenny G (if they don't, they're dumb), I've compiled a collection of the best ambient/instrumental Holiday music I could, and put it into a nice little package for you. I'm just going to keep adding more songs to the list every year, so if you want to be included in the 2012 edition (which may not even happen, on the off chance the Mayans were right), start making songs. As for right now, our list includes: "Just For Now"- Imogen Heap "I'm Dreaming of a [...]

Ingenuity has never really been one my strengths, so I'm borrowing last year's title as well as last year's illustration . I cannot help thinking that this post is somewhat of a contradiction, as I normally don't shy away from expressing my dislike of Christmas in general. Not that I dislike everything about it, as I'm obviously enjoying the food, the beers (especially) and the days off. But the buying Christmas gifts madness, people "having" to see friends and families (whom we normally don't care shit about the rest of year), kids acting like little angels etc. make me [...]
Watch the new video from I Like Trains ...this band is certainly capable of much more than recording miserable and heartbroken cover versions of Christmas classics ...both song and video are unbelievably beautiful (as well as miserable and heartbroken)! Sea Of Regrets by I LIKE TRAINS

Mondays are for getting the lead out. The Bynars - 'How does it feel to be in love?' I LIKE TRAINS - 'Sirens' remix by Honour Before Glory Panther Style - 'Seeing...Just Not Believing'

The Raincast is so called because we have had three days of sporadic, but at times absolutely torrential rain here in Edinburgh this week. The leak in our ceiling has sprung back into action with some vigour, although this time it manifested itself in a manner which didn't ruin all sorts of my vinyl, which was generous of it. We really must get that looked at before the whole bloody ceiling comes crashing down. The rest of my day will be spent sticking things into envelopes to publicise the Lach release, which is really, really soon, as well [...]

Come July 11 th the wonderful I Like Trains will be releasing 'Sirens' as a single from their BBO top ten of '10 charting album He Who Saw the Deep . Representing that album's more direct approach, 'Sirens' delivers a chorus you can actually sing-along with amongst its suitably oceanic guitars. It's out on 10" vinyl with 'A Father's Son' b-side 'A Kingdom You Deserve' and new track 'Flood', both of which would be worth the money alone, but you get 'A Father's Son' as well. The digital version sees 'Sirens' remixed twice: 48K's [...]
I Like Trains will be releasing a new 103 on the 11th of July called 'Sirens', from their 2010 album 'He Who Saw the Deep'; the promo video for the song is below. Your eyes are assaulted by dozens of images, but what is this video really about? Tell us what you think in the comments. Click here to view the embedded video.
This one was my favorite song of 2005 (seems like ages ago). Still a bloody fantastic track!
