What do you get when you mix Amazing Baby, MGMT, Foreign Islands, and Miles Anthony Benjamin Robinson? No, this isn't the beginning of a joke by some Brooklyn-centric comedian. It's more of a recipe for a new band featuring some of the people responsible for those projects. Enter Ill Fits. After seeing them a handful of times this summer, I'm smitten. What's first striking about the band is how comfortable they are on stage together. Of course, this is no surprise when you ...

As mentioned in last week's This Week in Indie , Ill Fits , who played Cameo on Saturday (7/30), have members of MGMT and Amazing Baby. Since that show, more details on the band have emerged. The Village Voice writes of the show: By the time Ill Fits came on, the crowd had filled out considerably; friends and scene associates were eager to catch the second show of the sorta-supergroup. (Ill fits contains members of MGMT , Amazing Baby , and Foreign Islands , and [...]

ILL FIT, The Line Of Best Fit's bastard club night off-spring is back for 2011 after taking January off to recoup and refocus. This month we're back with a bang with a pair of acts that are at completely different ends of the spectrum. Just the way we like it. Perhaps a tad reminiscent of Slowdive, the wonderful London trio Blue On Blue will open proceedings with their own gratuitous take on the current shoegaze revival. They've been on the London circuit for a fair while now and we've had our eye on them for just [...]
Wednesday 15th December brings the final ILL FIT of 2010 and it's going to be a big fat Xmas party. We will have a COOL vs NOT COOL DJ-off with the bickering ILL FIT DJs . Expect Wham tussling it out with Museum Of Bellas Artes for your affections. Also our friends from the wonderful boutique label WARMEST CHORD will be there to mediate and over rule AND there's a live set from THE PROPER ORNAMENTS , a krauty side project from Veronica Falls to keep the beats straight and tidy. As ever it [...]

Talk about aiming straight for the counter culture bullseye. Museum Of Bellas Artes , a new three piece band from Sweden, released their initial single, ' Watch The Glow'/'Who Do You Love ', on October 11th, through the blog-friendly Transparent record label. This was immediately after doing a mixtape for Vice's website, so with all these hipster boxes well and truly ticked, we witnessed the class of Shoreditch start their chattering, articles soon arrived on NME's radar and the remainder of the blogosphere got scribbling. We don't think it will stop there either [...]

Seasonal Affective Disorder is about to get a ruddy good kicking. Yes, the nights may have drawn in with winter's ugly head front and centre, but such darkness doesn't dim the technicoloured delights of ILL FIT from returning with yet another line-up of spell-binding pop brilliance for the month of November. Bringing a much needed dose of last minute sunshine all the way from Ballarat, Australia come the frankly incredible GOLD FIELDS . Although relative newcomers to the UK, they're consistently selling out shows in their homeland and are surely to do the same over here come [...]

After taking the summer off, ILL FIT returns with a bad ass line-up featuring three of the most exciting new bands around. Kicks off at 19:30, rolls on 'till 12am with free entry all night long. OVER THE WALL fuse together traditional folk with electronic samples, Bontempi organs, trumpets and earnest vocals to create perfect intelligent pop songs. Hailing from Scotland, this will be the bands first London show. ECHO LAKE are dreamy without being dream pop, ambient without being boring, hinting [...]

Here's a fun one. Secret Twins are vocalist (and former Belle & Sebastian collaborator) Dina Bankole and drummer Timothy Thomas. The title track from the duo's debut full-length album Ill Fit is a quirky, femme, avante-pop-influenced rock number. The album is set for release on October 19th. For one month only, TLOBF's monthly club night Ill Fit will pass over the organisational reigns the wonderful Oxford based promoters "Pindrop Performances". Taking place at The Social, London on 21 September - Ill Fit vs. Pindrop will feature an evening of the very best in drone folk, acoustic arkestras and lo-fi pop. The mouth watering line-up includes a headline set from We Aeronauts , plus performances from The Gullivers , David G. Cox and Four Quartets . Entry, as always is free as a bird and doors will open at 7:30pm sharp. [...]

For the first time in ILL FIT history we've organised a line-up that is 100% home-grown LDN talent. Forget the usual transatlantic lineups, we're keeping things simple this month. We've picked three of the most exciting bands we could lay our greasy little mits on and plonked them on an equal footing bill; no headliners, just one triple threat. You won't be disappointed either. First up are the sumptuously sexy and effortlessly stylish boy/girl duo ELEPHANT who are followed by the slightly less sexy but by no means less talented A SCHOLAR & A PHYSICIAN [...]

All killer. No filler. Wormwood Scrubs' notorious C Wing and May's ILL FIT have something in common, it seems. TLOBF sister company ILL FIT Recordings is really rather proud to be celebrating the release of The Forest & The Trees' self titled debut album. A party then. The Forest & The Trees will play live. New York's sultry electro pop stars Class Actress and hottt new London band Safari will bring the beats. And they will. A DJ set from Kisses is sure to bring the balearic beach vibes, and ILL FIT's [...]
As summer seems to have tentatively raised its head above the soul-sapping drabness of winter, this sweet little piece of pop manages to be both uplifting and vaguely thoughtful, as well as possessing the requisite head-noddingness for a potential radio hit.

We are super psyched this morning to announce the release of "To The Forest", the debut offering from Swedish husband-wife duo The Forest & The Trees . The single, released digitally on April 19th is the first taster from Ill Fit Recordings - a joint venture between ourselves and Something In Construction Records (responsible for Memory Tapes, Air France and Loney Dear - to name just a few). The Forest & The Trees are Joel and Linnea Edin; they live in marital bliss in their apartment just outside of Stockholm, Sweden where they sleep, eat and create [...]
