I mentioned a few months ago that I was being interviewed for the Cargo Culte's podcast, which is called The Cargo Culte Audio Field Report. Back in April, co-hosts Isreal (@theallseeingi) and Cameron (@cmetz) asked me to put together an hour's worth of music based on a theme that I could describe during an hourlong [...]

Infinite Body - Dive [Have] Seagulls on the pond in the park are really excitable. They flutter around the surface, every so often plunging, then swooping off, high! But then back, greeting and swirling around other seagulls they meet. Socialising with the geese even, but that's a long shot. Then high! Diving off once more. Then it seems that the general feel is drifting away from the hububbling pond and rather to a frantic cloud high above the humming Oak [...]

[RSS Readers: See post to listen to audio] Benoit Pioulard is no stranger to this blog, I might post about him quarterly at the very least. This Portland lo-fi vanguard has always turned me onto good music so I had to pick his brain for his latest picks. Don't read into the Bobby Vinton choice too much since he recently was married, congrats Thomas. Memoryhouse : Caregiver - We've all felt like ghosts at one time or another. Nat King Cole : [...]
I feel like we should all be jamming out to "Right Now" (and drinking Crystal Pepsi?), because this is the day we've all been waiting for. It's time to stop living in the past and start living in the moment: my annual list of the one-hundred best albums of 2010 is finally ready for you to feast your eyes on it. Look at it. Look at it how you would a naked slut as she spreads her legs for you. It's here for the taking. As is customary now, I've decided not to write blurbs for all 100 [...]

Infinite Body is an exploration of the ecstatic—tone and distortion that bubble and spark like the surface of a star. His album Carve Out the Face of My God is out now on PPM and he warns listeners not to fall into a tropical volcano. This interview by Chris Ziegler.

Because of the angle this photo was taken at you can't see Kyle Parker's torso curling around the globe then trailing off into space past Venus past Mercury past the sun and out out out forever, but trust us, it is. He told us about his old cat and happy songs about sad stuff.

In some ways it's easy to see why Infinite Body should end up on PPM, the label run by No Age's Dean Spunt. Much of the lush fuzz that Carve Out the Face of My God is soaked in sounds as if it could be the bed track for a No Age song, just aching to have a bit of atmospheric punk draped over the top of it. But Kyle Parker never comes near pop; rather he immerses himself into the gauzy foam of drone loops, feedback and the shimmering brightness of tone. Infinite Body seems to embrace [...]

Words by: Jake Butler Photos by: Nicole L. Browner My first show in San Francisco was an all ages show at Bottom of the Hill. Coming back for this afternoon show to close out my own personal Noise Pop experience brought things full circle in a sense. Making the trek from the East Bay was a bit daunting at first, as even with all my magical powers, I couldn't keep God's tears at bay (translation: it was dumping rain). My hesitation almost ruined the day for me, as I barely made it as [...]

It will be sad to see Noise Pop end, but they will indeed go out with a bang. Two shows punctuate Sunday's Noise Pop festival. At 1pm, No Age (LA) will headline a show at Bottom of the Hill with White Circle Crime Club (Belgium), Infinite Body (LA) and Veil Veil Vanish . No Age plays a raucous and infecting type of power-punk that's quite naturally produced in LA. If you want education about the more esoteric aspects of punk, check out this show, as [...]
