Following up their debut single " The Beach " we have the video for London duo Age Of Consent 's newest single, "Heartbreak". The track is oozing with a dark 80s-esque goth-pop vibe, much like that of Information Society, Soft Cell or Depeche Mode. As you may already know, the band is comprised of former Shitdisco members Joe Reeves and Darren Cullen. The duo are currently prepping for the launch of "Heartbreak", which will be availabe on June 11th with a launch show following after that on the 13th with T.W.I.N.S. There will also be a show this coming [...]

UP! [...]
Agggggh hello all. I apologize for the lack of posts lately. I'd like to say I've been busy but I really haven't. Take these amazing old-school house tracks as my apology. :D Let's take a trip back to *checks Discogs* 1988... Information Society - Lay All Your Love On Me (Restricted Mix) [click to download] Yes, ABBA covers are cheesy as all hell, but the synthwork on here is acid beyond belief. This is closer [...]

Back in 2004, VH1 aired a program called Bands Reunited in which producers would attempt to reunite a band that had broken up under bad terms. In most cases, the bands profiled on Bands Reunited didn't reunite, but it certainly made for good TV. I forgot all about the show until coming across an item on The Daily Swarm called VH1 Killed The Beat Reunion . The Daily Swarm's piece links to an article on the Marco On The Bass blog that details how the program seems to have [...]

lets flash back to the 80s today. this is a tune that i randomly remembered one night while we were prepartying for another fantastic thursday night at luna (this was pre-tv screens, when they could play whatever songs the djs wanted to play, rather than only playing songs that had an accompanying music video. things were better back then). you know, one of those classics that always seems to be left out of the mixes prepared for every 80s party, forcing them to slip even further into obscurity. i know [...]

I've just finished watching Synth Britannia , an excellent BBC Four documentary that explores the history of the British synthpop movement from 1978-1983, featuring interviews by electronic music pioneers such as Phil Oakey , Vince Clarke , Martin Gore , Bernard Sumner , Gary Numan , John Foxx and Neil Tennant to name a few. For you lucky punters who live in the UK, the documentary is available for streaming at Beeb's website here . Everyone else can have a look at this link ;-) Anyway, here [...]

SomaCow Media is proud to present ComaSow brought to you by Information Society . Yes, THAT Information Society! They have a new album, Synthesizer . Well, it came out about a year ago but it's newer than their 80's music! Like last episode, I played Information Society on a past ComaSow but just one song. I loved it and wanted to hear more! So Sue and I started with "Free". I was very pleased when everyone loved it almost as much as I [...]
A recap of the shows covered by our photographers this weekend.

If you read this site with any regularity, you know I'm a big science-fiction fan. Specifically, I'm a big Star Trek fan. I wasn't alive when the original series came out (obvs) but I remember seeing The Animated Series on Nickelodeon as a kid, in the days before Nick Tunes or Nick At Nite or Hannah Montana. Yeah, I'm old. But back then, Nick didn't have much in the way of original programming, save Pinhweel (Pinwheel, pinwheel, spin me around...no? Ah forget it), You Can't Do That On Television (before Alanis hated Dave Coulier) and Standby: Lights, Camera, [...]
The Exotic Birds were a Cleveland synthpop band which in hindsight was sort of a farm team for electronic musicians. The band, which formed in 1983, at various times featured Trent Reznor on keyboards, programming and backing vocals; Andy Kubiszewski -- later known for his work in Stabbing Westward and as a touring drummer for Crowded House and The The -- on guitars/vocals; and Chris Vrenna on drums. (The latter once played in NIN, records now as Tweaker and has played live with Marilyn Manson and Gnarls Barkley.) [...]
When I can't think of a title for a post I just come up with a stupid rhyme associated with a song title or band name. I'm so damn clever. Information Society What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy) (Club Mix) What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy) (The 54 Mix) What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy) (Percappella) What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy) (What's On Your Dub Mix) The best ever synthpop song featuring a sample of Spock. These [...]
I have to give props to another blog out there, and since everyone knows what an egotistical self-centered prick I am then you know that really means something. The guys at Trash Menagerie have taken it upon themselves to re-imagine, remix and basically fuck to hell and back Portishead's amazing new album Third. The result is Third Floor and it's shockingly good. Go check it. Okay, enough about other people, let's get to back to me and my impecible taste in music. Information Society Lay [...]
Everyone have a good 4th of July celebrating our rapidly deteorating freedoms that we take for granted every other day of the year? Was that a little harsh? Okay...um...aren't fireworks neat?!?! Eddy Grant Electric Avenue (12'' Version) Time Warp When I first moved to Pittsburgh I needed a job really bad. One day I saw an ad for a clerk in an adult video store out in East Pittsburgh. I wanted to check it out because it was a third shift job and it [...]

it's been almost a year since i've been to doha, and i have had more caviar in the past 3 days than i've had in the past 3 years. i had it for three lunches, one dinner, and on two qatar airways flights. this gastronomic decadence was but one example of the vast oil and natural gas wealth that is rapidly transforming this tiny land jutting into the persian gulf like a big thumbs up. out of a total population of about a million people, only 20% are actual qataris. like other gulf countries, a majority of [...]

VIDEO FILES : This is just too much! In My Continuing Effort to Bring You Great Things... PICTURES, VIDEO & SONG from AROUND THE GLOBE Today's video is making it's rounds very quickly here in Boston and I just wanted to share with the rest of you. It's two of our locals preparing for the big race. Think Reno 911 crossed with the Boston Marathon. This is [...]
It's been a long day. Talked to my attorney bud (he's weird but helpful). Called my grandma, who's a landlord of her property and she's never been through small claims court.. strangely enough. She's been in the biz for like 30-40 years or something. Guess she's blessed that way. Got a kickass subject who happens [...]
For this week's mix, a famously sampled Bob Dylan cover, T Rex in their early hippie nonsense phase, new stuff from Dengue Fever and Late of the Pier, and a White Whale track from the last issue of Esopus . The mix is a little on the dark side until the end, but it's the middle of winter, so you and your johns can like it or lump it. Also, a challenge: try getting off during the Teach-In track. Dutch ABBA wannabes with a really surreal command of the English language ("Maybe it's a bigot!") challenge all but the [...]
