Vacant Kiss just released a new video for the track "Killing Me". Readers / listeners know I have been a fan of Insect Guide (be sure to check out "Reason to Exist", a fine single released 06-06-2011). Vacant Kiss is a related act, perhaps a wilder version of Insect Guide. Vacant Kiss on Soundcloud .
Sehr angenehm! God, I love this song. "Instrumental version of 'Tape' mixed for the documentary/film 'Dark Days & Nights'. The original can be found on the album of the same title", says the band . I say one minute and twelve seconds of bliss. You gotta love these guys. They offer-up so much free music, I can't help but mention them . Talented. TAPE (INSTRUMENTAL) by INSECT GUIDE

Insect Guide are that guilty pleasure that are impossible to feel guilty about. To quote the band themselves, they are "unashamedly pop" and rightfully so - there's very little to be ashamed about when a band draws their influences from such greats as Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, and Slowdive. One can even hear a dash of 60s girl group pop when they listen closely. Adhere this atmospheric sound to a dark, visual aesthetic found in both videos and live performances and any resistance to becoming a fan is futile. Originally formed in 2006 as an [...]

There's no doubting Leeds' Insect Guide harbour desires for past decades and given the dearth of contemporary movements who could blame them. The fact that they include the drummer from the Pale Saints helps to bridge the gap of course yet there is so much more to 'Bats' that is admirable. For one Su Sutton's vocals are an able match for the densely fuzzed out chords and the impression is that of a Jesus & Mary Chain tune were Hope Sandoval given vocal domination. This should appeal to fans of Sweet Jane, an Irish act that convey a similiar post [...]

Wow! This is great music. Download The Insect Guide's "Bats" single from Eardrums here . I played a track from this UK act way back on Like Sugar PopCast #4! "Tracks One and Two are written by Insect Guide. Track Three is originally by Big Star. All songs performed by Insect Guide. Track Two features Graeme Naysmith (Pale Saints) on guitar". I am so excited to see their close ties to Pale Saints, one of my favs from the 4AD 90's scene. Please read up Insect Guide ! 1. Bats 2. Hearts [...]

Words: Gareth O'Malley "There's real life in the dark. Real life is dark." So said Editors frontman Tom Smith when speaking about his band's third album 'In This Light And On This Evening'. I get the impression that Insect Guide would subscribe to this view. The trio are most comfortable with the darker side of life - and love - no matter how uplifting a contrast their music might provide. The band prefer to shroud their songs in effects of all kinds: guitars drip feedback; Su Sutton 's vocals [...]

Interviewer : Gareth O'Malley Interviewee: Su Sutton Ahead of the release of their long-awaited second album, MFM fired a few questions over to Leodensian trio Insect Guide about such things as recording sessions, the name of the band, 2010 in music and of course, 'Dark Days and Nights' itself. Frontwoman Su Sutton was on the other end, and here's what came of it. — Music Fan's Mic : Describe your sound in one sentence. Su Sutton : [...]
Words: Gareth O'Malley 'Dark Days and Nights'. What does an album title like that make you think of? Yep, us too: nothing cheerful, that's for sure. Insect Guide 's second record is indeed quite dark, but forthcoming single 'Down From Here' pierces through the gloom with a melody that's unshakeable after even one listen. The focus soon shifts to frontwoman Su Sutton 's rather excellent voice, but the big draw is the rumbling bass line that provides the song's hook. Complemented by driving, powerful drums from Chris Cooper , the song's just about [...]
So it's time to delve back into a band who instantly displayed an enormous amount of potential. They go by the name Insect Guide , and although their upcoming LP release, "Dark Days & Nights" has been pushed back some this summer, don't fret. This Leeds band have a new single out, proving to be an amazing track that soars above expectations. "Wasted" proves why veteran bands such as My Bloody Valentine and The Breeders carried some fine elements. There's a solid blast of sensible indie flowing in the band's single here, something [...]
