Mr Electronica Man of The Moment: Jason Caine, returns with an 8-Pack Magnum Ice Cream looking package entitled the "Hollow Out EP" on Zimbalam. He continues where he left off in ' Spring Load ' by setting the bar effortlessly high via some futuristic sounding swaggered beats, crowned over with strobes of dark n' light grains and a "let's not give a damn" attitude to it. 'Fretless' manages to coax the inner spirit very nicely and its gentle rises and swirls float across those left and right channels superbly. 'Hollow Out' (in its two forms) has a brilliant [...]

It's Casa, so doors are 8:30pm. Intensive Care likely on sometime between 9 and 9:30pm, then roughly hour intervals from there. Looks like a really good time. Oberhofer is frustratingly good. Cloud Nothings have some seriously awesome songs. Intensive Care are Montreal-based and nothing short of pretttty exciting.

The second of three shows on May 1, 2010 in Ottawa. I headed up to Mavericks since there were four bands playing and wanted to show my support. They were Trees , New Teeth , Intensive Care , Meadowlark Five and Fillet Sterling . I managed to see two of the acts which were Meadowlark Five Fillet Sterling [...]
As it was previously reported, Mexican singer Luis Miguel has been hospitalized in the intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles due to a bacterial infection after a routine liposuction. I'm so pleased to say that the musician is doing much better. Luis is now in stable condition and reports are now saying that he's been discharged and sent home to begin the healing process. Considering that today happens to be his 40th birthday, I'm so glad that he's on his way to recovery. Get well soon Luis and I hope that you can be back to 100% soon.

On February 12, 2010 I decided to head down to Zaphod Beeblebrox . It was New Teeth CD Release show. At first I thought there won't be alot of people attending due the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. Was I wrong, it was a packed show when New Teeth came on. It was the most I've seen for them playing live. Here whoelse played that night. New Teeth Intensive Care ( [...]

Fairytales from the Island is the new album from Montreal band Intensive Care. The album, produced by Jace Lasek (Stars, Besnard Lakes, Sunset Rubdown), is the kind of atmospheric indie pop you'd expect to hear coming out of that city. The band is working it's way across southern Ontario this week, spreading the joy and culminating in a big Toronto show. Check them out on one of these dates:

The New Jersey Nets are renting out their players for US$25,000. In a program called 'Your Ticket to a Player', the NBA team are offering a bunch of exclusive tickets to basketball games, plus the chance to have one of their players appear for one hour at any private function of a fan. It is seen as the latest marketing effort by the team, who are trying to survive the sluggish US economy. Unfortunately, the players aren't to keen on the idea, and the day after the program was launched, they formed a protest group called the Basketballers And Lazy [...]
Intensive Care - All The People Hear With Me ZIP with MP3 Intensive Care is a colorful band with some colorful tunes. Their last release, an EP called All The People Hear With Me, has 2 nicely laid songs with some quite original arrangements. You might listen to Sirenhorses to understand what I mean. I really liked [...]

So we're a little behind with all the new, good stuff that's been crowding our mailbox over the past month. I blame it on the rising price of linear low density polyethylene. What, you mean you don't know how that matters in the global scheme of things? You're so lucky. Stuff like that affects me deeply, man. Haven't slept for 16 minut... Zzzzzzzz Whaa... Oh yes, new, good stuff. Thought I'd start with one of the better ones, the sophomore EP of these lo-fi loving, genre blending Canadians. Yeah, where else? Long [...]

Because... Hype Machine has released their redesigned site for private viewing. No screenshots allowed, but my early thoughts are a bit like meeting your nephew for the first time in 20 years: he's a heart-stopping ladykiller with all the glitzy shenanigans that will likely make the family go ga-ga—yet you can't help but reminisce the days when he was the one going "Ga ga". They sure grow up fast. Aa - New Machine (from GAaME ) Brooklyn snare smackers time travel to 735,309 BC, just as Polyphonic Spree's ancestors [...]

Montreal based quartet Intensive Care show a great deal of promise in their debut EP 2805. While the recording itself lacks a certain depth you can see past it for the clarity of the group's vision in songwriting. Complex and moving, the band clearly knows it's identity and has little difficulty sharing it. The multi-layered vocal crescendo of the epic 7 minute-plus "K" builds to quite the satisfying resolution with vocalist Philippe Manasseh pleading in earnest with an unseen spirit looking into his soul. There are missteps along the way but this band appears to be [...]

Intensive Care ... yet another Montreal band. You wonder how one place can produce so much good music. Seriously. I thought I had reached my quota of Youpee-infused rock for '07, but I was wrong. Intensive Care is a unique sounding four-piece that manages to blend distorted guitars, piano, inspired metal riffs, theatrical builds, soaring vocal lines and catchy hooks - and they do it all in only 5 songs. 2805 is their independent release and the 5 songs show a lot of potential and creativity with only a few missteps. The keyboard [...]

From Montreal...as I've made multiple entries about different bands from this city that I've yet to set my foot in. From their EP: mp3: Intensive Care- "k" Stream their other music on their My Space. official site: Intensive Care My Space: Intensive Care
