[ download ] On August 18th, Jack Peñate will release Everything is New , the follow-up to his 2007 debut, Matinee . Peñate built his reputation on an animated live set and a first single that blew through it's initial 1,000 copy vinyl pressing in 2006. Although he was a bit too young to truly appreciate them in the moment (Peñate was born in 1984), his music feels profoundly influenced by fellow U.K. bands who rose to prominence in the '80s such as Aztec Camera . His most [...]
Let's get into this one, new music from Million Stylez of Sweden. This is a brand spanking video released about 9 hours ago, thanks to Universal Music in Sweden. The video for Million Stylez new single, titled "Love We Deal With", is directed by David Dawoodi, who is best known for his unique advertising spots for Adidas, Playstation, Budweiser and Lexus. This video, which looks like it was filmed on a moderately low budget, contains many great shots with numerous camera angles that showcase the musicians doing a live performance in an empty concrete building. Overall, it's a [...]
[ download ] There's nothing quite like visiting with an old friend-the ease of the conversational flow, the familiarity and comfort wrought by so many hours spent in one another's company, the notion that things may be picked up so smoothly wherever they left off. When I first encountered The Clientele in 2000 after the release of the brilliant Suburban Light , it was like a revelation. Their nods to the dreaminess of Galaxie 500 and the bittersweet sentiment of Belle & Sebastian struck me then, as now, [...]
This is J-Son's newest video for his single "My Window" (produced by Addeboy vs. Cliff). The background vocals were sung by Yaiya, a Swedish pop singer who is currently prepping the release of her new song, titled "What's4Dinner", which features Eboi. The video was directed by the animation and stop motion wizard Arvid Tappert. Arvid Tappert has produced video clips for many major companies and he's also won dozens of awards throughout his amazing career. The stop motion team which worked on the video did a phenomenal job in making seamless transitions during the frame by [...]
Watch Addeboy vs. Cliff's "Beep My Beep" on Tripletimexl.com Addeboy vs. Cliff's "Beep My Beep" is one of the strangest video's I've ever seen. It's so strange, that it's almost brilliant! What do motorcycles, strobe lights and wolves have to do with "beeping" someone's "beep"? Who knows? I really love the lighting used in this video; everything from the green lasers, the pink sky during the outdoor scene and the four vivid ominous lights that shine behind the thickening fog. Overall, the best scene in the video has to [...]

Here's a new freestyle from Kano aka one of the best rappers in London. Apparently he found (or made) a looped instrumental of Jay-Z's "Death of the Autotune" and decided to speak his mind about the current state of rap music. In Death of Everything, Kano implies that autotune isn't the only thing that's currently wrong with hip-hop. He makes numerous references to the fact that most new artists rely on paying famous musicians to feature on their songs in order to sell records. This track may go over your head, so listen to it more [...]
[ download ] After a slew of EPs and their 2007 debut full-length Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters , Scotland's The Twilight Sad are gearing up to release their sophomore LP, Forget the Night Ahead , on September 22nd. Those already familiar with the band will have a solid idea of what to expect: a vaporous, almost post-rock landscape populated by empty spaces as much as by its instrumentation and the alveolar flap of James Graham's haunting brogue. The scale of The Twilight Sad's music skews heavily toward the epic [...]
Watch Devlin's "London City" on Tripletimexl.com! This is the video for Devlin's new single "London City", which is produced by Kraze and directed by Digital Dan. The song contains a sample of Utada Hikaru's "Passion" (also known as "Sanctuary") from the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack. The video, which features cameos from Ghetts and Griminal, is an artistic masterpiece. It is by far one of the best new music videos of 2009, and it'll definitely be remembered as one of the greatest low budget videos of the decade! "London City" [...]

So earlier this summer we introduced you to our elite team of interns here at 50 Entertainment. Here's a few more for you. The Rest of the Gang: Julie Keveeno (the only one who gets a guest spot in his pic) Reeverts Sonja Let's have a fun summer!
It was extremely interesting talking with Mario Anzola of Captan, Obvio over email. Captan, Obvio comes to us from Caracas, Venezuela, where Mario says there is virtually no appreciation for any sort of musical experimentation. In essence, these guys are on their own. This information totally intrigued me to listen to this record. What I found was music that was very similar in sound and approach to the scene in which I currently reside - Louisville, and its historic post-rock period, from 4,000 miles away! Though the band cites classic psychedelic influences, Wachu Min takes pages [...]
[ download ] Let "Red Travellin' Socks" wash over you, give in to its jubilant overtures and spirited chorus, surrender to its staccato crescendo of an ending, and be glad we live in a world where people still write songs this good. For the uninitiated, Malcolm Middleton was formerly half of Arab Strap , a band whose elegiac music was sorrowful and, at times, cynical, but always intelligent and distinctive. As "Red Travellin' Socks"-the lead track from his just released third fifth solo effort, Waxing Gibbous -proves, [...]

[ download ] Finland's Puumaja just released their debut full-length, Meriselityksiä , and although I can pronounce neither their name nor the title of their record, it's easy to understand what they are accomplishing musically. I love that the band writes songs in their native tongue, bucking the trend promoted by most European acts of singing in English even if their grasp of the language isn't quite there. For those of us not blessed with a working knowledge of Finnish, it also adds an additional layer of mystique to tracks like [...]
[ download ] On August 18th, Choir of Young Believers will release their debut LP, This Is for the White in Your Eyes , on Ghostly International . If "Action/Reaction" is any indication, it should prove to be one of the year's most stunning premieres. Despite the collectivism suggested by its name, Choir of Young Believers is actually the work of one man: Denmark's Jannis Noya Makrigiannis. The twenty-six year old has assembled various cohorts to fill out the record's lush sound, but the songwriting is all his-and [...]
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I really don't like this video. It's too American! Seriously... I love listening to Swedish rap because it's usually progressive, creative, different, avant-garde, and rebellious. This video just doesn't take me anywhere that I haven't been before. It's sounds very reminiscent of 2001 to 2003 Hip-Hop Club Songs and the video looks like something that I've seen before. Plus, where's the lyrics? Tensta? Eboi? What happened on this one? Lazee had the best verse out of everyone on this song. The whole record seems like it was rushed. [...]

[ download ] It's been a while since Datarock self-released their full-length debut (the cheekily titled Datarock Datarock ) in 2005. Since then, the track jacket-clad Norwegians found themselves major label U.S. distribution and have had their music featured in commercials by Apple and Coca-Cola, not to mention six separate video games. All of which means that Datarock's sound, if not their name, is now recognized across the world. So how have the intervening years and success changed the sound on their upcoming September 1st release, RED ? [...]
[ download ] Finland's Burning Hearts have their roots in two very enjoyable, under the radar indie-pop acts: Jessika Rapo is the vocalist for the Stereolab-ish Le Futur Pompiste , while multi-instrumentalist Henry Ojala spends his time as the drummer for the more guitar rooted Cats on Fire . In 2004, the bands toured Sweden together, sowing the seeds for a collaboration that will appeal to fans of acts like Magnetic Fields, Sambassadeur, and The Concretes. "I Lost My Colour Vision" shows an appreciation for low-budget synthesizers-the first sound [...]
[ download ] Sweden's Liechtenstein (a confusing couplet, I know) make no pretense about what makes their musical heart beat. The all-girl trio are trudging down the same path as Talulah Gosh and Black Tambourine before them, forging a sonic sisterhood on a premise of amped-up distortion, simple, Beat Happening styled drumbeats, and disaffected vocal harmonies. Title aside, "Roses in the Park" is low on melodrama and high on ba-da-bas, digging its heels in from the opening notes and powering straight ahead for the duration. [...]
[ download ] Their record label describes Stockholm's O'Spada as "a bastard child between Prince, Jackson 5, and Justice," and while that's a good start, it's more accurate to describe them as a synthesis of acts that aspire toward such an amalgamation (think Junior Senior or fellow Swede Juvelen ). For a debut single, "Time" is confident and crisply produced. Vocalist and band namesake Julia Spada has an expert handle on the early 1980s fauxsetto approach and the backing track has both the funkiness of a [...]
