Absorb a new ambient-instrumental of almost Avrocar -esque tranquility by Deerhunter called 'Curve'. Organised by Blonde Redhead, the track will appear on the benefit compilation We Are the Works in Progress , raising money to bring Japan out of the tsunami's shadow. The 14-song compilation attributes tracks from the likes of Interpol, Liars, Pantha du Prince, Terry Riley, David Sylvian/Ryuichi Sakamoto, and many more. For today's Live Performance we find ourselves in the heart of France. The Rock en Seine festival is a two or three-day Rock 'n roll festival, held at Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, Château de Saint-Cloud's park West of Paris, inside the garden designed by Le Nôtre. From last year's edition of the festival we can offer you the full performance by Interpol. Interpol is an American indie rock and post-punk revival band from New York City. Formed in 1997, the band's original line-up consisted of Paul Banks (vocals, guitar), Daniel Kessler (guitar, vocals), Carlos Dengler [...]

Everyone likes awards right? Especially when they are random and whimsical..right? Here's the rest of my favorite concert moments. Since it's my blog, I'm just going to call these awards The Panickys . I would call it the Rickys, but that oozes of ego boasting. 2011 Panicky for Concert Where I Saw the Most Friends Sloan, December, 2011 - The Great Hall Before I joined this cultish indie blogger group I am now apart of, I rarely knew anyone at concerts. Since that fateful [...]

Listen to a new track, plus her Interpol cover.
We Are the Works in Progress, Blonde Redhead's compilation to benefit Japan's recovery from the March 2011 tsunami and aftermath, has plenty of big names. Among them are Terry Riley, Deerhunter, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Interpol, and The Knife's Karin Dreijer Andersson. Another is Four Tet, who leads off the compilation with "Moma". Kieran Hebden (Four Tet) unveiled it today via Soundcloud, which you can stream above

School of Seven Bells - The Night (New [...]
It will be hard to return to that moment in 2005 when Interpol's second LP, Antics, arrived in my mailbox. George Bush was just beginning his second term in office and like the rest of America's college students I was waiting out the cultural malaise by getting lost in a vaguely highfalutin vocabulary and a criminally low self-awareness. Needless to say, I loved it, the record. But as Interpol

Pitchfork reports that Blonde Redhead frontwoman Kazu Makino has been hard at work calling in favours from friends in all sorts of great bands to put together a compilation album to help benefit Japan, where they are still recovering from the devastating tsunami of early this year. Makino, a Japanese native, has managed to get tracks from many great bands including 4AD labelmates Deerhunter, Interpol, Four Tet, John Maus to name just a few. She's even got the elusive Karin Andersson aka Fever Ray (although she's decided to go with her birth name for this song) and Makino has [...]

Sure, Occupy Wall Street is the hot social topic right now, so it makes sense politically-conscious musicians are putting out benefit albums to support the movement. But it wasn't all that long ago that a massive tsunami battered Japan, and they're still recovering. Blonde Redhead hasn't forgotten the disaster; in fact, the New York City alt-rock outfit has put together a new benefit compilation to aid in the recovery efforts. Curated by Blonde Readhead's Japanese born frontwoman, Kazu Makino, We are the Works in Progress features exclusive tracks from Four Tet, [...]

Here's a nice Turn on the Bright Lights era Interpol show from the 40 Watt in Athens, GA. These guys never sounded quite as good as they did on Turn on the Bright Lights , in my opinion. That being said , this album remains in some made up list of albums I listened to a lot in the 20002s. The record has a strange quality about it, it's one of those albums that was the soundtrack for about six months somewhere in '02-'03. [...]
