Like Jay Gatsby himself, Jay-Z is pulling out all the bells and whistles as executive producer of The Great Gatsby soundtrack. British chanteuse Emeli Sande is not nearly as recognizable as Jay's wifey, but her cover of "Crazy In Love" with the assistance of the Bryan Ferry Orchestra is one of the more splendid songs we've heard. Working with the timeless theme of Beyonce's original smash, Emeli's sultry voice immediately transports one back to the Roaring 202s.
When the trumpet kicks in it makes me lolz, the EMELI SANDE 's collaborative mess with the BRYAN FERRY , aka a cover of CRAZY IN LOVE , is available for playing with below.
First thing's first: This isn't a regular Beyonce cover. Far from it. It's a cover of Beyonce done with old-timey jazz instruments because Baz Luhrmann does his thang with modern people playin' old timey music. It has a Beyonce soundalike singing. It sounds remarkably true to the original, in theory. But it isn't very good. Have a listen. For a $100m movie, they could do better than this, right?
