Ninetynine - Interstate ‘97 (Album Stream) One of our favorite Canadian producer Julian Gamble aka Ninetynine just recently his stunning french house Lp “Interstate ‘97” via Fogbank Recordings. The opening track August Kiss perfectly sets the pace for the entire album. It has a sort of nostalgic feel that instantly gets your body moving. Stream this bad boy below then download it on Beatport .

After much delay we finally got some time to put the finishing touches on the Top 20 Trance of 2010 Countdown Mix. This time around LessThan3 DJ/producer Proto counts us down from 20 to 1 in a similar fashion to our previous countdown mixes, such as the Top 15 Dubstep of 2010 Countdown Mix . Together with Kid Alien & Starchild, a mix has been assembled that we'll all be able to listen to time and time again as a memory of what 2010 had to offer to the genre. Can't get enough or want the [...]

This friday brings Portland, OR rockers, Menomena to our fair city at Headliners . I first heard about Menomena in early 2007 when Friend and Foe was released and absorbed it for several months; it's still constantly in my rotation and the newer album Mines , while a bit more tame, is just what i needed! Menomena has a release coming up in support of record store day; a 7" split with the Helio Sequence (but available now at their web store and i'm sure at the show this friday.) Tickets are [...]

Some of you may remember Boston-based Tyler Michaud from his recent techno collaborations with Mat Zo and his fantastic remix of Moonbeam . This time, Michaud's composed a dark, uptempo club banger by the name of Junkie , released on Paul van Dyk's VANDIT Records. He's joined up with Mike Burns and Mark Lewis- better known as LA-based duo Insterstate-to make some good ole American trance. The 2010 mix has a driving psy-trance bassline that is nicely balanced with the track's haunting vocals and melody. However, Junkie is not fully complete [...]

There's been some really good music videos popping up lately. Here's five that I absolutely love. Great concepts, great visuals, great editing (the songs are swell also). Enjoy! Go check out the trailer for the movie The New Sudan. It features a new song from Interstates. The film is all about Sudan and how we can get involved. The movie is also narrated by William Mapother (aka Ethan from Lost). I am really excited to hear what Interstates has cooked up for the soundtrack. And I am also excited to be one degree of separation away from my favorite show Lost. Check out their site and trailer: Here

We have launched a brand new sampler where you can stream and download tracks from several of our upcoming records. Check it out over at www.therecordmachine.net/sampl er . Next week is our second A Night of Record Machine-ness in Kansas City for the summer. The last one was a great sucess. We had about 200 or more people packed into Bryce's house for so much fun they almost fined us. This time we are having it at a proper venue: The Czar Bar. It will be to celebrate Perhapsy coming to Kansas [...]

Got a pretty solid sampler pack from The Record Machine , the label that's home to Max Justus, Sam Billen, Capybara, Interstates and so on. I think the email I received was mainly for the promotion of Max Justus, but I gravitated more to the "out of genre" goods. See said goods below and get the whole 10 track sampler here . I'm pretty pumped for what this label has to offer in the coming months, that sampler sucked me right in ( #promotionwin ). The Billen Brothers - Little Russia [...]

There is a good chance that you have stumbled into a set by The Parade Schedule somewhere around town because frontman Matt Kinder has been setting up shop all over town for the past few years. Kinder falls under the tutelage of great masters of indie-folk like Damien Jurado, David Bazan or J. Tillman. His sepia-folk style sets him apart from a lot of his contemporaries and his songwriting constantly captures loss, love, duty, and honor like few can. The arrangements are lush and his blue-collar delivery is complemented greatly by the harmonies of Jenn Feikert. The band [...]

Our buddies over at The Record Machine have posted a lovely sampler. It rounds up some great stuff from the past and has a few tracks from releases we can expect in 2009. The name on the list I find most interesting is Sam Billen . For those of you not in the know, Billen is the former frontman of my favorite Northern Records band, The Billions . Well, maybe they tied with The Lassie Foundation , but you catch my drift. It's also kind of nice to see a track from Louisville's [...]
Well, mostly. If you owned all of the Record Machine's releases from the past year, then you'd have all the MP3s you need. But this is a good start. To end the year, RM owner Nathan Reusch has passed ... Continue reading "All the Record Machine MP3s You Need, Right Here (Max Justus, State Bird, Interstates, and more)" >

2008 has been one of the best years for Record Machine since we started this record label 5 years ago. We had really great releases from State Bird, Interstates, and Max Justus. Our plans for 2009 are even more ambitious. We already have 6 really great records lined up for next year. As a little early Christmas present we put together this year end wrap up and preview for next year. Some of these songs have been floating around for awhile but we decided to put them all together for you. You can also download the songs from Max [...]
I love this song perhaps more than anything else we've seen on New Music Blog so far - simply for the fact that it shows that there are still people out there just making music for the hell of it. It's not going to be number 1, it's not going to inspire a generation, but at 5.05pm on a Wednesday just before I head off to see Fleet Foxes at Shepherd's Bush, I'm thinking - yeah, sure. Why not?
