Synth pop duo Io Echo takes influence from the Eastern world to create a style of pop with depth and layers. Their debut full-length album, “Ministry of Love,” combines a number of different sounds—from delicate singing to traditional Asian instruments to heavy distortion—to create new, complex sounds. The last time Scottish rockers Garbage tried to perform in Kansas City, they weren't graced with the most cooperative weather. This time, they opted for an indoor performance at Harrah's Voodoo Lounge. Without the threat of weather grumping up their crowd, Garbage was free to really rock out. Last year, the Los Angeles shoegaze band IO Echo released their self-titled debut EP, and two weeks ago, they went extra-hard at SXSW. I somehow managed to accidentally catch their swooshing, mystery-drenched live show twice , by accident both times. Next week, they'll release their proper debut album Ministry Of Love .
