Iran is the type of band that has always been a bit of a mystery. The band put out two albums Iran & The Moon Boys which both were very cool at times, but mostly experimental and hard to fully grasp for me. The band consists of Kyp Malone (TV On The Radio), Peter Hoffman (The Mendoza Line), Aaron Romanello (Grand Mal) and Aaron Aites, but is primarily the handiwork of Aites, who handles all of the songwriting duties, and has been the man responsible for what is now an all-star lineup. [...]
Who: Bruce Springsteen When: May 21st + 23rd Where: IZOD Center More Dates Thoughts: It seems that Bruce is perpetually touring, but since he calls Jersey his hometown he won't be stopping in New York! I don't care what the proximity is all artists should be required to stop in New York whenever they announce a tour! Yes, I know this is a very New York centric opinion, but shit who really want to go to the fucking IZOD center?!?! Listen: Bruce Springsteen - "The Wrestler" Who: The Antlers When: March [...]
Late last year I recall hearing a whole lot of talk about this band with the "tragic" name of Iran. I say "tragic" mostly because any real attempts to find information on said band via search engines will yield a whole lot of talk about the country of that very same name. Even searching "Iran the band" doesn't help much, unless you're looking for bands that the people of Iran tend to enjoy. Somehow I don't think the citizens of Iran would actually enjoy Iran the band, but then again I don't really know any Iranian people, so who am [...]
This week Deli Magazine concluded the voting for their best NY band of 2008 with Vivian Girls, Chairlift, and Secret Life of Sofia coming in in the top spots proving once again that the bands coming out of New York are top notch artists that are making an impact in this music world. It was nice to see the list of bands that were nominated (full disclosure: I was one of the jurors to pick these bands my choices; Secret Life of Sofia, Brownwater, & Brilliant Sweaters) ranging from the absolutely obscure bands from Staten Island (see: Brownwater) [...]

Finally... we have a capable, intelligent, forward-thinking new U.S. president. No, it's not Dave Mustaine. Here's what else happened this week: We wondered aloud and speculated about Slayer's co-headline tour, New England Metal & Hardcore Fest, Scion Rock Fest (aka Atlanta Metalfest), and The Faceless' headline tour. This spring just got awesome. We ran to the hills [...]

YES YES YES! This '09 year has gotten off to a great start. GL OBAMA MANIA ! Some lesser in magnitude events but still worth mentioning: a FANTASTIC season premiere of 24. The previous seasons have been a bit lacking but the 2 hours x 2 days introduction of 24 back into my life was magnificent. I lalalalalala loooove Jack Bauer! ANNND Slumdog Millionaire won FOUR TIMES at the Golden Globes: best drama, best director (Danny Boyle), best screenplay (Simon Beaufoy) and best original score (A.R. Rahman). It is one of the best movies I've [...]

Iran - I Already Know You're Wrong Lugn och mycket fin indierock från denna Brooklynakt. Låten är från deras album Dissolver .

Who: Franz Ferdinand Title: Tonight: Franz Ferdinand Release Date: January 27th Label: Domino Thoughts: You already know if you're going to want to listen to this or not, and chances are you have a feeling as to if you're going to like the new Franz Ferdinand or not, so let's just cut to the chase. This is a weaker album than anything Franz Ferdinand has ever done before. It is not as immediate nor is it as catchy as what has come before, but it is still [...]

In a little less then the month you are going to be bombarded by an album called Dissolver from a band called Iran. People will try and tell you that this band is a side project of TV On the Radio's because it includes Kyp Malone in the band and because Dave Sitek twiddled the knobs. All of this sort of makes sense, but if you delve a little deeper you will learn that Iran pre-dates TV On the Radio and that the band have already released two excellent albums that sound nothing like Dissolver . This [...]

Iran - "Buddy" A trail of jellybeans, a licorice rope tow, a bubble tape conveyor belt, a melty fudge path. Past shady lanes, perfect row houses, machine-made ponds and parks. A bright sunny day, but a nice dry heat. One appointment and it's not til later after supper. Passenger riding the path, the belt, the trail, to a particular quiet pink house on corner Birch and lane Hearth. Round the streetlight and set the sun down like a puppy, so it can run off and be free, and slide slowly up the driveway [...]

So much music is leaked, released, re-released, remastered then re-released and so on that we here at Radio Exile have decided to help you sort through the madness. Each week (or whenever we feel...

So still relaxing from a superb thanksgiving feast, I decided to post a couple new tracks that will soon be the forecast of 2009. > Franz Ferdinand - Ulysses Returning with their 3rd full length LP entitled Tonight: Franz Ferdinand , Franz Ferdinand have expanded their sound while continuing to keep some of their brit classic spirit in tact with this single. The vocals really deliver and seem to remind me of Fujiya & Miyagi at first listen. [...]
