In case you missed it, the lineup for this year's Wakarusa Music Festival was finalized late last week. Topping the bill is a solid eclectic mix with Pretty Lights, The Avett Brothers and Primus all set to headline the festival, with LMB favorites Umphrey's Mcgee, Girl Talk, Ghostland Observatory, Big Gigantic, EOTO, Orgone, Blitzen Trapper [...]
The second round of artists have been announced for Wakarusa 2012. Joining Pretty Lights on the headliner slot will be Primus as they're gearing up for tons of dates still supporting their last effort, Green Naugahyde, and Umphrey's McGee, Girl Talk, Big Gigantic and more have all been added as support. This will be a [...]
Like what you're hearing? IRATION is performing in San Fran at The Regency this Friday. Tickets here . The story began in the backyards of Del Playa (fondly called DP) houses with some college friends playing reggae music to fuel the debauchery of Santa Barbara ragers. 7 years later, Iration has toured the world with the biggest reggae acts around and are playing in legit venues across the country. They are living the American dream for musicians, riding the wave from hit songs like "Timebomb." I wouldn't call Iration's style pure reggae because it also [...]

Iration: Lei'd Back Tour 2011 I light up a cigarette and my hands shake, partially because I'm standing outside the Hawthorne Theater in the pouring rain and partially because I'm anxious and nervous to conduct an interview with one of my favorite bands, Iration. Reggae music has common connotations to the outside world: Bob Marley, smoking weed, and Island life. And though all these things are relevant entities to the basis of Reggae, some do not realize that this kind of music is not only complex, well-written, and unique; it is one [...]
Incubus, Face to Face, Bush, & more melted faces at San Diego's 91x-Fest.
So we're now five axe slingers deep into out list of The Top 25 Modern Metal Guitarists. We predicted that the list would get a lot of you angry, and, no shock, it has. Funny thing is, reading the comments, as of yet not one of you has correctly predicted which guitar player is gonna [...]
If you like songs about castles, monsters, and wizards, you are probably a metal fan. And I get it: what better way to escape from the brutal reality of being, well, who you are?? I can't fault you for wanting to escape, but that's never been me. I like the way metal sounds, but I [...]
Expect all the favorites and maybe some patchouli-scented dreads as part of their Winter Greens Tour.

I know some of you readers are fan of Iration . But, you may not be aware that they dropped a 5-track EP earlier this month entitled Fresh Grounds. Now, I know most people reading this are in miserable weather, so it's perfect for a group like Iration to come along and momentarily take you to another place. Immediately when you hear their tracks; you imagine yourself in Hawai'i or some tropical climate and you can't help it because that's just the vibe they present. Check out the sample tracks below and purchase the album because all [...]

My weekly Wobble Wednesday series has ushered in an unusual amount of unrest lately - I've been caught in between dubstep purists and fans of a relatively new, harder-hitting sub-genre of dubstep that some might call " filthstep ," or more compassionately dubbed "brostep." Resultantly, my tension headache is a consequence of loud wobble and a raging battle between two opposing camps of passionate music connoisseurs. Well it's time for a break from the madness; time to chill out, twist one up and let it go. So dubstep purists and filthstep fans alike, I [...]

Playing August 4th at the US Open of Surfing in Hunting Beach, Iration is a well known Reggae/Rock/Dub band out of Hawaii. Probably best known in the West Coast they are a dirty group that deserves much more recognition across the Map. Here are a few EP's off their album Sample This and New Roots released in 2008 [...]
I think it is finally safe to say that spring has arrived which means finding fun songs to blast out windows while feeling nostalgic about college spring, which is sadly oh so different from real world spring. No more impromptu slip n' slides, no see-saw-a-thon with ( awesome college jam band) Kinetix on the lawn (Boston DU grads don't fret they are playing Friday [...]

As the weather gets warmer and the end of school draws nearer, I find myself waiting wistfully for summer. Enter Iration, a group from Santa Barbara, California whose reggae sound screams sun, sand, and surf. The band's sophomore album, Time Bomb , is a beach-ready stoner soundtrack sure to please any and all reggae fans. Iration isn't doing anything original, but they make their well enough that it doesn't really matter. The songs are all enjoyable and relaxing, which is all you can really ask for. Each song has it's own [...]
We've all been there. Tensions are high in some packed, sweaty venue, sparked by feverish excitement and the potential for violence. These people paid good money to enjoy some type of cathartic release. The frontman for whatever hard-nu-death-crab-metal-core outfit is brazen and demanding. Can you believe this shit? You PAID to be entertained, and this [...]

Set times have been announced for this weekend's Sunset Strip Music Festival , a three-day affair highlighted by Saturday's party on Sunset Boulevard. The street will be closed on Saturday between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard to accommodate two outdoors stages — with music going on inside the Roxy and the Key Club, there will be plenty to justify the $39.50 ticket price. The festival also announced that L.A. City and County firefighters get in free. [Pictured: L.A.'s Shiny Toy Guns , performing on the East Stage at 5 p.m.] After the jump, the set [...]
