Forgot to share this Steinbrüchel gem from last year. Blissful electronic soundscapes almost to the point of a drone. From last year's ISAN Remixes on Simon Scott's Keshhhhhh label. Isan's glacial original 'Eastside' borrows its title from the name of the Birmingham gallery in which the piece was conceived and composed, where "Over the course of 9 weeks, a sonic environment emerged from ten speakers placed around the gallery, based on recordings made and tones generated within the gallery, only reaching it's final form in the [...]

Our provost of Cambridge, Simon Scott showcases long learning, a venerable past & ears sharper than a King's College spire on a Track of the Day exclusive to the vinyl version of his new Bunny for Miasmah (also stream the CD release in full below). Don't know quite how those halving colons fit into a badger's lair, but SETT::: :: : is a fuzzy, fragile soundscape of scudding clouds & reflective filigree. [...]

The Morr music label, established in 1999 in Berlin, has produced some of the best dreampop/ indietronica I've ever heard. If you haven't heard anything from B. Fleishmann, Sin Fang, etc., then you have yet to LIVE. múm - Oh, How the Boat Drifts B. Fleishmann - Broken Monitors Ms. John Soda - Scan the ways Lali Puna - Grin and Bear Sin Fang - Fall Down Slow Contriva - Good to Know Isan - Willowy Guther - Deepest [...]

The transfer window may have closed, but Premier League talent - Taylor Deupree ! Steinbruechel ! Simon Scott ! - converges on our old friends ISAN as each contributes a remix of the pair's gently, twinklingly unfolding 'composite', an installation tone poem, all then packaged into a ravishing 12" for Scott's keshhhhhh label. Hear all four compelling takes on the lambent original in a single preview below. [...]

Baths Cerulean // Will Wiessenfeld's best moments cannot be captured; they are elusive and amorphous creatures that shift and lean just outside of your grasp. But the fact that you're chasing a beat, leaning in to the music to understand what is drawing you nearer is what makes Baths such a promising act. Born in the futuristic city-shock of Los Angeles' well-stocked experimental hip-hop scene, Baths' debut album is a beat-centered affair that never once feels like your standard-issue beat record. These compositions are too pretty, too composed to comprise a theoretical manifesto on hazy possibilities of [...]

Isan is an electronic duo consisting of Robin Saville and Antony Ryan . Morr Music has always been on the forefront of bringing fans like myself electronic poetry that constantly pushes the boundaries of ambient sounds and space. Luckily, through the latest release of Isan's Glow In The Dark Safari Set , they've managed to prove their impeccable taste once again. While Saville resides in England and Ryan in Sweden, they manage to communicate on a level that goes beyond their physical boundaries and create a harmonious marriage between [...]

Hissing, clanging intricacies winningly entwined - life has been poorer without ISAN 's blanketing analogue warmth. Now though, as noted , the trans-North Sea 'tronica partnership (" tone poems on the aural autobahn between Sweden and Southend ") is back in action with the forthcoming Glow in the Dark Safari Set ( morr music ). From which, the endearingly stately (& downloadable...) bleeps of Channel Ten : ISAN - Channel [...]

Isan & Inch-time - an old-school line-up for LMYE perhaps, but with both purveyors of subtle, slyly wayward electronica re-emerging after long absences (the now trans-North Sea Isan with a superb live show [extracts & in full below] for Arctic Circle 's Bubbly Blue & Green festival , Inch-time with a new album to come [two streams below] & recent EP [Spotify, title track also streams below]) we're glad to remake their bleepy, loopy acquaintances... The London-based promoter- and concert arranger Arctic Circle has made an exclusive and free 13 track MP3 sampler, "Bubbly Blue and Green" , to celebrate a four-day festival in the halls of Kings Place in London from 24th to 27th February . The festival is influenced by shipwrecks, rivers, waves and lighthouses, so you can expect four days of eclectic "water music". The mp3 sampler includes songs from the bands who are playing on the festival, and it features beautiful music for the more relaxed and thoughtful moments of the day from Hauschka, [...]

The unusually glassy, tinkling sound of the great Philip Jeck rehearsing for a new piece, An Ark for the Listener , inspired by Gerard Manley Hopkins' poem The Wreck Of The Deutschland . "An aspiration in answer to an inspiration, out of music shaped by all the sea has claimed, as is the inevitable shipwreck of our existence. [...]

Speaking of blog items that mysteriously go missing at :: clicky clicky :: (wait... what?), voracious readers may recall we briefly posted an item a month ago that addressed in turn a new Rumble Strips song ("London," a real snappy one, that) and a planned Morr Music compilation featuring covers of the best in classic '80s and '90s New Zealand indie rock. Well, we now have more information about the latter, which appears to be available to order now . According to an email just in from Morr, the 34-track set is titled Not [...]

excellent compilation of melodic electronica, conceived as the soundtrack to the modern day supermarket, and thankfully far removed from the usual muzak dross. 1. skanfrom - electronique supermarket 2. solvent - frozen food 3. rederik schikowski - station breslauer strasse 4. opiate - last dr. pepper in the fridge 5. the remote viewer - vg on hd 6. lexaunculpt - plus and minus miss c-bug 7. to rococo rot + d - robfrog 8. phonem - blue skies over leuna (wish i was somewhere else) 9. dynamo - 18° 10. isan - ghost voices 11. geiom - understanding [...]

Been very much enjoying the 14 tracks service from Boomkat : Every week the best tracks are selected from a specific genre for your listening pleasure. So far we've had Detroit techno, downward acid, cover versions and deviant disco amongst many, many others. Here's a few of the tracks I've discovered, starting with this delicate rendition of 'No. 1 (Lent Et Douloureux )'. ISAN - No. 1 (Lent Et Douloureux ) (Z Share) ( YSI ) [...]

occasionally a compilation comes along that is nothing less than genre-defining. foundry's "will our children thank us" is one of those. but what genre exactly? i guess you'd have to call it british post-rock perhaps. or new neu maybe. or something else entirely. or better still nothing at all. 1. throwing a curve ball - appliance 2. glenda - billy mahonie 3. carnival of souls [ghost train dub] - pram 4. fonk - electric sound of joy 5. close frank falling - wisdom of harry 6. peggy's well - novak 7. biggest lie - piano magic 8. eeriel [...]

Isan: "Peg," from the Salamander LP (Morr Music, 1999)
