Inspired by the likes of Gigamesh, DFA Records and Vanguard, Dallas’ soon-to-be sensation in Redsean proves why his exquisite electronic style fits so well over the stems of certain playmakers such as Gossip, Goldroom, Kimbra and Kris Menace. Unofficially brilliant, Redsean keeps on keeping on with his own version of daytime disco and Balearic happiness. To experience the sound of Redsean’s mixtapes – click HERE . Drawing on influences ranging from folk, funk, and electro-pop, including any variations thereof, Ishi make dance music with a propulsive, electronically beating heart. The lights may flash across your eyes and the beats may work their way deep into your brain but main musical instigators JT Mudd and Brad Dale work as often as not from a very humanist perspective. The feeling and emotional connection is never lost among the squeals of reverberating synths and thunder clap rhythms—electronic music for the spirit, as well as the dancefloor. The latest video from the visually and aurally minded [...]
It's been seven years since JT Mudd and Brad Dale acted upon their artistic vision to experiment with electronic production and formed Ishi. After the praises and acclaim of 2010 album Through The Trees, their fans have been sitting tight for three years, tapping their fingers in anticipation of a follow-up. Sophomore effort Digital Wounds is [...]
Ishi avoids the sophomore slump through subtly commanding synths and beats worth dancing to.

Dallas band Ishi , have just released their video for the track "Disco Queen". The track will be part of their April 6th release "Digital Wounds", and it something to keep an eye on. I've kept my eye on Ishi as is a local band, their lead brain and singer John Mudd, can really capture the room as he enter it and on the stage he shines like a star, this perhaps is not my favorite track, but it sure is a good one. Ishi - Disco Queen [...]

Seeking some grand balance between the audio and visual spectrums of their art, JT Mudd and Brad Dale, the duo behind electro-pop outfit Ishi, combine bright technicolor beats and pinpoint synths with an 802s sense of pomp rock. Glistening guitar lines and hushed emotional vocals twist and merge with the elastic beats to form lines of kinetic energy, spilling out in waves from the speakers. Known for their elaborate and often overwhelming live shows, the duo makes music that seems to surround and immerse the listener in a whirlpool of surging musical textures. Ishi's sophomore record Digital Wounds [...]

You'd think Ash Reiter was based in SoCal, with her breezy '60s melodies, but the band — Reiter, Will Halsey, Drew Brown, Scott Brown and Anthony Ferraro — hails from San Francisco. Nonetheless, their sophomore record "HOLA" (another SoCal-friendly detail, if you ask me) is another collection of songs highlighting Reiter's smoky vocals, the band's sunny harmonies and lyrics with underlying irony that is witty and humorous. "Ishi" is a song about an important California historical figure, while "I've Got Something I Can Laugh About" is a warm, upbeat number about Reiter's own struggle with anxiety and panic. There's enough there for your [...]

Only at SXSW can you manage to travel to multiple countries in a span of a couple hours. Well, not literally of course, but it is possible to see bands from many different corners of the globe in one afternoon. I achieved this in just hours on the club-filled Sixth Street, followed swiftly by the Discovering Scotland showcase at Latitude 30. Sixth Street is every bit as legendary as the tourist trap t-shirts that advertise its amazingness. Everywhere you turn, you will either run into a band hanging out, playing [...]
