North Carolina natives Israel Darling recently signed to NYC's Engine Room Recordings and their debut album 'Dinosaur Bones and Mechanical Hands' was released in the Fall of 2009. Israel Darling is made up of several members, including Jacob Darden, Mike Bannerman, Jeff Bechtel, Isaac Crouch, Anna Harris, Mat Masterson, Edwin Mericle, and Ben Welner, all located in North Carolina. Israel Darling's self-produced debut album 'Dinosaur Bones & Mechanical Hands' is to be released this Autumn. Originally of North Carolina, Jacob Dyer is the real creative input to the band. He grew up as a devout Baptist but lost his faith upon leaving hospital at the age of 19 after an unfortunate series of events. At this point in the evolution of music there may no longer be any truly unique sounds or ideas left to mine. Instead artists are forced to manipulate the sounds and structures laid out before them into new wonderful sounds. A lot of times this leaves bands to sound a lot like their influences which can be a really good thing or it can be downright awful. Greensboro, North Carolina's Israel Darling are a band that fall into the good category, able to sound perilously close to Modest Mouse and similar indie rock bands while also using their Southern influences [...]

Hailing from Western North Carolina, singer/guitarist/songwriter Jacob Darden's music reflects his small town life with themes of isolation and religion wrapped in Appalachian folk and indie rock.
