This is my attempt at making some sort of art in our weekly album cover feature. I wanted it to look like a rainbow, but didn't have enough rows for it...so a multicolor stripe was the end result. Three primaries and green. It ain't that bad. The music from these albums are better though. There's more to check out if you go clickety-click on them too.

I will miss the buzz of the Olympics when it's all done. It might not have felt like winter in Vancouver - especially with the dreadful rain that we're having today, but I do think the Winter Olympics was quite a success. I will particularly miss the free concerts and all those cute orange bikes I that the Dutch keep riding around with across the city. So in honor of the 2010 Winter Olympics, I'm having an Olympic themed post. This week, we have five songs that more or less (some really less) represent some of my favorite countries that [...]

boy/girl pop. Broken Musicbox - Rhyme nor reason It's A Musical - All my hollowness to you The Rosebuds - Shake our tree Noah And The Whale - Five years' time

So I have a tendency to check record label websites quite often for new music that I may have missed. And one of my favorite labels is Morr Music , which rarely fails to bring gorgeous electronic pop. Point being, I was browsing Morr recently and found It's A Musical! And upon first listen to "The Music Makes Me Sick" I promptly threw my head against the wall. Meaning the music sucked, right? Wrong! I was so mad at myself I hadn't heard of this German duo before I needed to take my anger out physically. But [...]
It's a Musical! is Ella Blixt and Robert Kretzschmar, a duo that makes sparkling indie pop music with organs, synths, pianos and drums. No guitars allowed here, ladies and gents. The Swedish/German band has an untouchable element to their music that is both seemingly full of child-like imagination and a dreamy sugar glaze, probably because most of the time the synths feel like they're straight

After having Pain Song on repeat the other night, I decided I should share with you a new track from Berlin based It's A Musical ! They released The Music Makes Me Sick on the mega beloved Morr Music label back in October. Their sweet indie synthy pop is so catchy and serious fun. I love Ella Blixt's voice on all these songs. Get their album here . In the meantime we've got the single for you. You're gonna diiigggg it! The [...]

Oh, dear, it's a musical!

Halloween is only a few days away, and hopefully we'll have ourselves lots of treats in the form of these new album releases. A couple of goodies that I definitely can recommend include two releases from Slumberland Records - caUSE co-MOTION's It's Time! and Crystal Stilts' Alight of Night . If indiepop doesn't tickle your fancy, and you want something a little darker, maybe take a look at Deerhunter's Microcastle or Ryan Adams and The Cardinals' Cardinology ? Actually, no thanks on either of those for [...]

Here are The Wheel's Still In Spin 's suggested new releases. Ryan Adams & The Cardinals – Cardinology | CD , Vinyl , or MP3 It's been a while since Ryan Adams released an album as strong as his first two solo efforts, Heartbreaker or Gold , or the Whiskeytown records. While this album is not as enduring, at least the first [...]
A few of these releases kind of snuck up on me. Or completely caught me off guard. I didn't even know Lovedrug , Bloc Party and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez were working on new albums. And a Rodrigo y Gabriela live album? Yes please! And all the releases I've already heard aren't impressing me (yet): Ryan Adams and the Cardinals , Emery and Ruth . I'm especially hoping Cardinology grows on me, because I have a big fat Ryan Adams man-crush. [...]
in berlin we love radio....we just love it... when you watch German TV, it's like seeing grass grow...so uninspiring, so bad.... DJ Diana Frankovic keeps banging out one great program after the other! while too many radio DJs think too local in this city and hardly use their imagination, she puts together a great selection of tracks. Our opinion is: forget about the computer generated playlists - anyone can load up a bunch of mp3s, call it internet radio station..... important is the personality which drives a [...]

![It's A Musical - Bad Day [mp3]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1305188_lg.jpg)
It's A Miracle' Bad Day is a sincere pop tune about "one of those bad days" that we all know. She makes a story of her spilling coffee on her sofa interesting. This is a mellow song that fits for a cool relaxing Friday listen. Enjoy it below: [Mp3] : It's A Musical - Bad Day It is featured on their upcoming album 'The Music Makes Me Sick' ( Morr Music ) that will be released October 28th. Visit them at their website .

I've kept my eyes and ears on everything Sweden's Ella Blixt does as an artist ever since I started this blog over 3 years ago. Actually, I think one of my first posts were about her solo-project Ella Glockenspiel , which later evolved into Bobby Baby . She's always been a true musician, who lives for creating and experimenting with new sounds and new ways to make her wonderful creations come to life. Ella has also been one of the artists who really early understood the power of the internet, and [...]

It's a Musical is impossible to Google without the inclusion of quotation marks. This German duo is musical indeed, though more reminiscent of numerous Canadian acts than anything coming out of Germany these days. That is until the dude starts singing, belying an adorably broken accent. Are you opposed to trumpets? Glockenspiels, droning keyboards, pianos? Mates of State meets The Most Serene Republic? Frolicking across flowered fields? Rope swings? Brightly-colored t-shirts? Hopscotch, wall-ball, foursquare? If you're against these things, move along. There's nothing to see here. It's a Musical's debut full-length The Music Makes Me [...]
