The good folks over at Bling47 have been releasing a lot of vintage unreleased Dilla in the recent past. Tell Me is their latest gem to hit the net. This was recorded by Dilla, T3, and Baatin just as they were letting their Cenepod Crew name go and transitioning into the name Slum Village. In other words this was the beginning of Slum Village. This track was never released until now.
At a Grammy after party, Common summoned the great Stevie Wonder to come on stage to perform for a few minutes. Doing a fun call and response, Wonder sang some tunes and got the crowd involved over some slick J Dilla breaks. This right here? This is hip-hop. Hit the skip to watch the video.
Dilla Month continues on this past weekend, as Nature Sounds unveils an alternate take to J Dilla 's posthumous collaboration with Danny Brown , "Dilla Bot Vs. The Hybrid". This single, of course, landed on the Jay Stay Paid album, which featured a ton of awesome MCs lacing beats from the Jay Dee vault. This particular track remains one of my favorite, as I can only sit here and imagine how the two of these Detroit natives could have sounded together if given the chance. Jay Stay Paid is out now. Unreleased track "Tell Me" by Slum Village produced J Dilla. http://bling47.com/site/slum-v illage-tell-me/ While some consider Dilla's strong suit to be production, others look to his rhyming for inspiration. This early Slum Village track, "Tell Me What You Want" is a fine example of his ill penmanship. It was one of the first efforts as Baatin, T3 and Dilla came out of the Senepod crew name and became Slum Village. At the time Dilla didn't even have a drum machine, so this beat was actually made using the "pause and record" [...]

A leak from Chuuwee's upcoming J Dilla Tribute (Chez!?...Chill!) dropping February 21st. (Please Remember this is a rough mix down this is not the final recording. Just a little something to soothe your patience) All songs from this mixtape were produced by J Dilla. These instrumentals and were not created for me or produced for me. I merely wanted to showcase what i would have done had i been able to work with the legend. This is my personal tribute to J Dilla.
The folk over at Feelin' Music have put together a free 18-track remix project dedicated to the career and life of the late J Dilla, aka one of the best to ever do it. They reached out to the likes of Elaquent , DiBiase , Moka Only , Chief , and Ta-Ku to remix some of the finest productions from Dilla's legendary discography. Do I really need to say much more (no pun, De La fans) than that? I didn't think so. Hit the skip to stream and download the project. [...]

Two random, unrelated but good things I found on the net. First is this little PBJ/IOK/DROIDS/3WA jammie. (above). Jay Swifa of Fly Union put this remake of Slum Village's "Fall In Love" on his soundcloud to pay tribute to J. Dilla. (below)

If I was asked to pick a selection of producers to pay tribute to Dilla then this compilation would be pretty damn close to my list. The lies of Mr Dibia$e, BoomBaptst, Ta-Ku, Chief and many, many more all pay homage to the king of the beats with this fantastic free download. I don't think we really need to state how much we love Dilla's music here. We're also big fans of Chief's label Feelin' Music so we were obviously pretty interested when they released Do The

This new drop from Big Sean is my jam, a proper commemoration to J Dila . No one has shaped my view of music more than James Yancey. He challenged our idea of music and pushed us towards a more progressive and creative appreciation of hip hop. He died six years ago, but the music lives on in his wake.
