A lot of you have e-mailed us over the past few weeks to express excitement for the October release of the metal-themed video game Brutal Legend (trailer above), which stars the voice of Jack Black as as "a heavy metal roadie who is transported to a mythical ancient world where he is called upon to [...]
i'm really behind in my film viewing, but last night i finally got about to watching michel gondry's be kind rewind . although it's gotten rather mixed reviews from critics, i absolutely loved the show, especially with its take on "sweding" in taking swipes at today's media industry's paranoia at copyrights and bootlegging, and of course some signature gondry scenes which were magical as always. the onscreen partnership between jack black and mos def is hilariously endearing (and sometimes annoying) in their efforts to "swede" or remake the films that black's character jerry erased ("you're magnetized!" being [...]
The more I hear about BRUTAL LEGEND, the more pumped I get. For those of you who are unfamiliar, here is the official description: Brütal Legend tells the tale of Eddie Riggs, played by Jack Black. The ultimate roadie, Eddie is the first person anyone calls when they need guitars tuned or stages rigged, and has [...]

I don't even know where to begin....this show is BANANAS!!! Hosted by a human character named DJ Lance Rock, the series features a mix of live-action segments featuring cartoonish costumed characters--Muno (the red cyclops), Foofa (the pink flower bubble), Brobee (a little green monster), Toodee (the blue cat-dragon) and Plex (the yellow robot)--and many short animated sketches and musical numbers. In its first two seasons, the show featured a wide variety of guests, including Jack Black, Leslie Hall, The Shins, Tony Hawk, Elijah Wood, Biz Markie, The Roots and Chromeo....just [...]
Like Joan Jett, actor/comedian Jack Black loves rock 'n' roll. He sings and play guitar in Tenacious D with partner Kyle Gass, and music has served as the backdrop of many of his hit-and-miss film roles ( High Fidelity , Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny , School of Rock ). Black is about to take his passion for music to a new medium: video games. He's "starring" in Brütal Legend , where he plays Eddie Riggs, "a roadie who is accidentally transported to a fantasy world inspired by the artwork of heavy metal album [...]
The poor-but-predictable showing of The Pick Of Destiny has presuaded Jack Black that he's better off doing other people's stuff : "It was a body blow, mainly because we had so much fun making it. I got a lot out of the writing. I was psyched to write more screenplays, but that kind of killed my writing career." Perhaps he should have tried writing a comedy instead.

Brutal Legend starring Jack Black is set for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 on 30 September 2009. Check out more screenshots here . The video below features an interview with Tim Scahfer CEO of Double Fine Productions. Have a look he explains the storyline that is based on a roadie who get's sucked back in time... SEE:

Jenny Lewis has recently released her Summer tour schedule, and we're amped about it. Many indie-music enthusiasts know her as the charming chanteuse of Rilo Kiley; however, any child of late '80s television knew the face well before the voice. Before jamming, Lewis appeared in Jell-O commercials. Before Rabbit Fur Coat, she pushed Girl Scout cookies in Troop Beverly Hills . And before romancing Jonathan Rice, she was on Fred Savage's radar in the 1989 film, The Wizard . All of this reminiscing got us thinking about some [...]
Yo Gabba Gabba , the kids show that's secretly for us adults, gets a special visitor this Friday in the form of Nickelodeon favorite Jack Black , who finds himself stranded in Gabba land when his mini-bike runs out of gas (for the episode "New Friends"). Black plays guitar with Muno, shows the Gabbas his Dancey Dance and even dons DJ Lance's orange jumpsuit for a bit. The appearance hits two of Black's target markets, that being kids and potheads. "I'm hitting two birds with one stoner, as it were," quipped Black [...]

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was charged with being the host of last night's Kids' Choice Awards and, let me tell you, there was some shenanigans involved! I especially loved the part with him dressed in drag. [ Click thumbnails for a larger view ] [...]
Now that spring is officially here, it is time for my annual look at the top 10 summer movies that have caught my interest so far. 10. Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins - I have been on the fence about this film for a while. I loved the first to films but found to be Terminator 3 both unnecessary and awful. While I believe Christian Bale can raise the material back to the level of the first two Terminators, I am still not sold on McG as a director. Lastly, Bale's vicious rant [...]
This movie has the potential to be really funny, or terrible. Last movie I saw Jack Black in made me want to cry sadness tears. Tropic Thunder was like being bludgeoned in the head with shitty diapers.

Collectively, celebrities are widely regarded as the most attractive people in the world. There are some however, that do not fit this bill and are rather peculiar looking. Others are celebrities that resemble various animals. Jack Black - French Bulldog Both Black and the dog look like they walk around on their face. Jon Heder - Beaver [...]

While perusing YouTube I came across some freshly added videos of bluegrass legend Wilma Lee Cooper performing in 1985 at what is now the Cannery Ballroom. (Via user urgnnaluvit.) The 80s saw the birth of the best music from the better half of the century. The problem is that like many similar great works of art, these songs weren't always immediately recognized for their brilliance. So when Van Halen's sexually-rowdy "Hot For Teacher" blares in the strip club scene in Varsity Blues, you can't help but give it a "ten" (a f-ing ten!). It's from there that the song earns it's immortality and lives in film fame for years to come. The only rules to this list: the song couldn't have been written for the movie or [...]

Dick: "Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels?" Barry: "No! The Righteous Brothers!" My life parallels to High Fidelity is not a secret. My comparisons of heart-wrenching fictitious music meant for someone else, to my life is scary. Or rather, somewhat absurd. But it's Friday and let's leave all that at the door and concentrate on my favorite scene from my favorite music comedy. All Dick asked was a simple question to Barry and what resulted was war. Who's version of Little Latin Lupe Lu is better and why? Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels or [...]
