Jack Peñate recently posted the song 'No One Lied' on his website as a free download accompanied by a live video. 'No One Lied' was recorded live in one take at Peñate's home on January 19th, 2012, and was directed by Dani Castro. The song is brilliantly written, and offers a real raw, humble, sincere energy - take a look and listen below.

Jack Peñate 's album Everything Is New was on some heavy rotation back in 2009 when it was released. I had just discovered him that year and by total chance I even got to see him live opening for Miike Snow at the Empty Bottle in Chicago after a galaxy's worth of stars aligned, and his set was most enjoyable. But then I didn't really hear anything from/about him since then, until his name appeared in my Twitter feed the other day in reference to this one-take track, recorded live in his home just a few weeks ago. Last week, Jack Peñate unveiled a video for new song "No One Lied" , shot and recorded in one take at his home. Now, the UK singer/songwriter has kindly offered the track as a free download. The song is a stripped-down, poignant, heart-on-sleeve moment that's sombre and tender at once. I hope this means a new LP is on its way soon. They mix his wordsmithing with serene vocal lines whilst maintaining a definitive sound that could only come from this man's voice. Well this is quite the surprise! Jack Penate returns with a in your face black and white visual for the track 'No One Lied.' Who knew he'd resurface and go all intimate on us? hopefully this will lead to new material this year but in the meantime enjoy the Dani Castro one take shot video above.

Jack's back! Since releasing his second album 'Everything Is New' in 2009 we haven't heard much from Jack Peñate , so this gorgeous new track comes as a bit of a surprise. Casting aside the perky indie-pop of his previous album, 'No One Lied' is a beautifully understated slow-song that perfectly highlights Jack's soulful vocals. There's no real release information with the video but we're confident we'll hear some new Jack tracks soon. According to his Twitter , 'No One Lied' is 'just the start'.

Girl, do we love us some strums from alternative guru Jack Penate. This is more on the acoustic route rather than the ska-alt that we got used to from him.
