Pop is an all-encompassing genre of music, with a massive scale upon which new artists can wander. It has a spectrum so broad you can find something as credible as Madonna , Abba , Michael Jackson or Prince at one end, or at it's other we find the generic, light-weight pulp that is Christina Aguilera or Cheryl Cole . At one end of the scale you find sophistication, talent and a divine craft, but with the other end you locate nothing but forgetful, pop-by-numbers with an overdose of gloss. Then there [...]
PUNCHES is a two man electronic/house/disco duo composed of twin brother DJ's Finger on the Pulse & Alan Astor from Brooklyn. Together they are united by a common goal: to get you moving. So it's no surprise that this glitched-out, funky remix of the all-time classic Jackie Wilson track does just that...my dad would be proud. [...]

I've been digging around recently, and I found some real nuggets of joy from the golden days. We spawn of the 902s know The Four Tops for their Johnny Rocket's jam "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honeybunch)," but "Baby I Need Your Loving" goes down a lot smoother. You can hear where Mayer Hawthorne [...]
Thirteen classic Yiddish songs in stunning performances by artists Jewish and non-Jewish.

The story goes that Jim Morrison hated Light My Fire, The Doors' great breakthrough hit. Recorded in August 1966, it was released in January 1967, at the dawn of the so-called Summer of Love. If it was true that Morrison disliked it, I'd sort of concur with his judgment. In fact, he didn't hate the song, but resented that he had only a small part in writing his band's signature hit (most of it was written by guitarist Robby Krieger). I don't like The Doors much, and have more respect than affection for their version of Light My [...]
I hope you have arisen from your food comas and have come to this website in search of good humor. Because that's what I plan to ejaculate into your eyes today as I prepare my annual "What's Evan Thankful For?" list. If you're wondering how my Thanksgiving holiday went, don't bother. It started with a late-night drinking session with Pat and Nate on Wednesday at some East Side dive bars, and continued early Thursday morning with more booze and football. The booze propelled me through the day and - in the company of some friends - guided me safely into [...]

Yesterday, we played Reet Petite from Jackie Wilson himself, today we'll let Van paraphrase. A great tune from the rather underrated St. Dominic's Preview album.
It's hard to sit still to this Motown era big band hit from one of the most important hit-makers during that time period - in terms of vocal power, on stage showmanship and pure talent few stand in the same class as Jackie Wilson.
Filed under: News , R.I.P. Carlton "King" Coleman , an influential R&B singer who worked with the likes of B.B. King , Jackie Wilson and James Brown 's band, died of heart failure at a hospice in his hometown of Miami, FL on September 11. He was 78. Coleman rose to fame as the vocalist of the 1959 hit '(Do The) Mashed Potatoes,' for which he was the lead vocalist. PUNCHES gives me exactly what I need today with these 3 tracks. The Jackie Wilson remix is tops. I remember hearing it for the first time in Ghostbusters II. 1989 was a good year for movies. Head over to their soundcloud to get their newest mixtape! PUNCHES was born during a cab ride one cold, Brooklyn December night, with thoughts of warm weather and the perfect summer soundtrack. Composed of twin brother DJ's Finger on the Pulse and Alan Astor. PUNCHES is united by a common goal to get you moving. [...]

Escort This remix brings me nothing but pure unabashed joy. There have been a bazillion remixes of Feist's work -all to varying degrees of listenability- and until now Britt Daniel's versio n has been my fave. That may soon change with a few more listens of this incredible track. Escort gives it a big band treatment with horns that will make your worries melt away. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. [MP3] I Feel It All (Escort Remix) - Feist [...]
This remix from our Brooklyn favorite PUNCHES has been floating around for about a month, and I'm not certain why I was skeptical of it. I didn't download it when it first got sent around; now that I've finally given it a chance, I've been taught a valuable lesson to keep trusting those who have [...]

So last night my HBO tv line up cam back on as we already know True Blood was on as well as Hung and Entourage. Here is my problem though why in the hell would you have the season premier of Hung and Entourage only take make us wait 2 weeks for the next episode?I find that very frustrating as I already waited like 7 months for it to even come back on.Anyways today I bring you a very nice tracklist to make you week go by fast. Also I would like to do a post with tv theme songs remixed so [...]

Overall, the only teams that have dazzled me in the World Cup 2010, have been the Germans and Argentinians. Other than that, the titans of soccer have fell flat and the relative unknowns have held their ground. I'm just excited that both Team USA and Team Mexico are undefeated. The horrible officiating has brought up an interesting possibility for instant replay to be implemented in match play. How it would be incorporated is another story. On a side note, these early games aren't so bad after all. I think I can get use to the idea of [...]
