Shrouded under the perpetual cloak of secrecy, Jai Paul is certainly a thing of enigma. Couple years ago he dropped one song & then disappeared then a year later dropped another one & was gone once again. As of late he or someone in his camp "accidentally" leaked his supposed debut album but then quickly ...

The long weekend that usually marks the first days of summer has arrived, and although the weather took an unusually long time to catch up, chances are you're going to see at least a bit of sun before Tuesday. To set you on your way, we've made a collection of our most replayed obsessions that arrived throughout the winter thaw. mp3: Soft Signal spring 2012 mix (85 mb) Disclosure – “You & Me" (feat. Eliza Doolittle) MS MR [...]

I feel this post and every one to follow is coming as a necessity. We had a weekly mix that we used to do that we seem to have forgotten about so here I am here to reinstate it. Basically what this will be is a weekly re-cap of all our favorite tracks of the week, of any genre, new releases and the occasional re-discovered gem. This week's mix will be a collection of tracks from the past couple of weeks. Most noteworthy tracks are the three of my favorite songs off Random Access Memories , Baauer [...]

Musical innovator Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet guested on WNYU's Beats In Space, giving host Tim Sweeney a brief interview, before delving into his record collection for an eclectic mix. Ranging from classic Prince to new Jai Paul and Joy Orbison, not to mention a few of his own productions (including his remix of RocketNumberNine's "Rotunda," [...]

London's Bayou has clearly been paying attention to the city's (possibly the world's) undisputed master of publicity, Jai Paul . Specifically, he's internalised that most important lesson: all press is good press, but the best press is no press at all. At least, I think that was what Jai was trying to say. It's hard to tell, because he basically never says anything. The point is that until recently, very little was known about who Bayou was, or what he sounded like. The only insight anyone [...]

Hoaxes: We've all fallen for them at one point or another. As technology gets smarter, society moves faster, and the industry burns brighter, substantial facts take up a volley of time that few souls ever embrace. Double checking, for many, is consulting another site or Twitter handle; the thread to sources short, thin, and likely intangible. For the entertainment industry, hoaxes have always existed - after all, everyone wants a good laugh. Rather, they've grown more complicated and harder to distinguish, which means countless troublemakers are cackling these days. Consequence of Sound isn't [...]

April, you cruel temptress. In last month's digest, I complained about March's unseasonably cool weather, but looked forward to the bright future that April promised, only to be crushed once again with temperatures reaching freezing, and actual snow flakes falling from the sky on the luckiest 13th day of April, following a week of nonstop rain, wind, clouds and complete and other gray, followed by more actual snowflakes on April 20 and 24. [Update: Its now May 2 and it's been glorious for a week.] For a winter that also started unseasonably early this year, it's safe to say that [...]
Jai Paul "Str8 Outta Mumbai" I wish I could tell whether or not Jai Paul intends for this song to be so lo-fi, or if the tracks on his leaked album sound the way they do because they're unmastered demos. We'll see? I certainly hope it's just an unfinished thing because this song has one of the most imaginative and interesting arrangements of anything I've heard in the past year or so, and I just don't think a vocal take that sounds like it was recorded on a cell phone off of a speaker phone in [...]

Jai Paul has developed into such a complex musical enigma that people have begun to question his actual intentions as an artist and whether or not he ever plans on releasing an actual full-length project. Though his label — the subtle powerhouse that is XL Recordings — hasn’t made any official announcements or even really hinted at the prospect of a Jai Paul album anytime soon, April 14 proved to be a day equally intriguing and perplexing for fans of the elusive British singer. It was on that day a Bandcamp user uploaded 16 untitled tracks [...]

First off, please don't miss that Thundercat. That's the one right there. I've been gushing for two weeks plus about Jai Paul and Kurt Vile, which means both their projects-official or unofficial-have plenty more to dig into. Among other gems here are the latest visuals from Julia Lewis, some road footage from Frank, and a feature-length, meditative stunner of a Nico Jaar remix, delivered specially for his Brian Eno/Grizzly Bear-assisted Record Store Day release. Oh and shout out to young Benny for putting me up on the latest from Davinci. Between that and the Mondre, it's looking like [...]

Thom Yorke isn't finished just yet. 'AMOK', his Atoms For Peace project's debut album, is still to tour as a full band , and Yorke and Nigel Godrich are in prolific mood, a recent remix of Four Tet only adding to the momentum of their debut full-length. At first the latest track - 'Magic Beanz' - sounds like the same band's 'Ingenue' effort flipped entirely inside out. But the signature chopped-up percussion soon floods in, and while we wouldn't want to start up any conspiracy theories, it does sound a great deal like [...]

Just who exactly is Jai Paul and what planet did he come from? Seriously, who is he? He's one of the most enigmatic artists out there today aside from Bon Iver when Bon Iver was still Bon Iver (you feel me?). His sounds are out of this world. They spin, twirl, mix, and mash up whatever genre you think he's falling into. One moment he's R&B, then he's funk, then he's pop, then he's indie — there is no box that can contain the full breadth of Jai Paul , and [...]

They're currently being heralded as Melbourne's kings of disco, and 96 BULLS don't look like they'll be slowing down any time soon. After smashing through some serious remixes of bands such as The Wombats, Gold Fields, St. Lucia and more - they're now spending the majority of their time in the studio to bring us some original works. So we feel extremely lucky that the boys are heading down to CANT SAY this Friday for a one off headline extravaganza. And because of all this, [...]

![[News] XL Releases Official Statement Regarding Jai Paul's Leaked Album](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4901457_lg.jpg)
XL Recordings has issued a formal statement regarding the leaked Jai Paul album that hit Bandcamp this past Sunday: As widely reported, on Sunday 14th April, music by XL Recordings artist Jai Paul was illegally made available via a fake Bandcamp account. This music was not uploaded by Jai and it's not his debut album – it is a collection of various unfinished recordings from Jai's past. Neither XL or Jai will take any money from the sale of this music. We have been working with Bandcamp [...]

So apparently it's not the real debut album after all. After a Bandcamp feeding frenzy and a ton of confusion, XL, and Paul himself, took to clearing the air about the 16-track release that surfaced over the weekend, under the guise of Paul's first proper LP. Be that as it may, the sixteen rough cuts supposedly kidnapped from Jai's archive are still thoroughly worth meditating on and vibing out to. For the record, I don't think I've ever shelled out ten bucks more willingly for an online release. To put it in context, JP's already been behind arguably my two [...]

A few days back the mysterious creator of 'Jasmine' and 'BTSTU', Jai Paul , seemingly (without warning) released his self-titled album. However, we held off on posting his supposed debut due to a series of rumours suggesting that the record was a fake. Sure enough, on Monday morning, Paul opened a twitter account in order to set the record straight and announced that the demos that were released were not uploaded by him and Jai Paul was not his debut album. Paul apparently had his laptop stolen and the tracks were subsequently uploaded and sold illegally [...]
