"Morning and Sunrise" klingt etwas opulenter und kompakter.

When the debut LP of Swedish songwriter Jakob Olausson , Moonlight Farm , was released by De Stijl Records in 2006, it encountered a cohort of distinguished music critics that was eagerly anticipating any record that could at least loosely be linked to the still prevalent "New Weird America" scene in underground pop music. And it surely did not disappoint anyone: Having been dubbed a "modern classic" by no one less than David Keenan himself, Moonlight Farm received more or less unanimous acclaim. For all the times it looks like Sub Pop might turn into a faceless mini-major, they turn around and do something unexpected; like issuing a retrospective of Dead Moon or renewing their distribution deal with DeStijl. In this case the re-upped deal with Minneapolis' vinyl label DeStijl has allowed Jakob Olausson's late 2006 LP realese Moonlight Farm to be issued in widely distributed CD form. Olausson, the Swedish beet farmer turned Ben Chasney style loner folk picker has crafted a buzzing, dissonant album that is clouded in just enough haze to make it seem like he should be [...]

Jakob Olausson is a Swedish musician that has previously recorded under the moniker of the Joshua Jugband Five ; who have a record out on Slippy Town and possibly a lot more in the pipeline. His first ‘solo’ album on DeStijl however, is a beautifully hazy acid folk album with detuned guitars and multi-tracked vocals. Moonlight Farm seamlessly draws on the psych rock improvisations of Keiji Haino the murky electric guitar sounds of Loren Connors and the acoustic drone/raga of Six Organs of Admittance . Other reviewers [...]
