Posted in Music Box J'aime beaucoup cette chanson / Fine Music Selection & Homemade Mixes. James Iha has released his first solo album in 15 years, Look To The Sky , and new video for the track "Speed of Love". I am not sure where I stand on this single and video. At first I did not the cheesy '80's look and feel, but then it kind of hooked me in. Then I thought is this a joke or some how intentionally bad, and then I began it sing the chorus while driving to work. How will "Speed of Love" haunt you?

Courtesy of jamesiha.com James Iha is heavily associated with the Smashing Pumpkins as the co-founder and an original member until the group disbanded in 2000. He has also well known for his work as a producer and member of the progressive rock group A Perfect Circle. All things aside, I've always admired his solo work which strays away from progressive rock and enters a more unique and personal sound. Now, nearly 15 years since his debut solo album Let it Come Down , [...]

So yeah premiering this video is a big honor and we are very happy to share the new video with you first. 'Speed Of Love' is a fresh and effortless synth pop-rock gem from a rock veteran. The new single is taken from Look To The Sky, James' first solo album in [...]

Founding guitarist of The Smashing Pumpkins James Iha made an appearance at last Friday's Free at Noon concert with his three-piece band. They performed songs from Iha's latest solo outing Look to the Sky, as well as a Pumpkins throwback, a Bowie cover, and several wry cracks about Black Friday shopping. Check out a photo ... When an artist severs ties with a legacy they helped to create, it can be difficult to build a new identity that works in its own, unadulterated right. Still, James Iha co-founder and former guitarist for Smashing Pumpkins spirits remain defiant to pressure. Rather than letting the seeds of nostalgia engulf him, Iha’s post-Pumpkins story is about perceptive transformation - the ability to find the balance between staying relevant and not outstaying welcome in an industry that’ll churn you out at any open opportunity. Yet in spite of his longstanding [...]

James Iha waited 14 years to release his sophomore solo record, and it's become an unnexpected surprise. When James Iha released his solo debut in 1998 entitled Let it Come Down, most Pumpkins fans (of whom the majority of his audience was comprised) were expecting it to come down-but in that fun altnerna-rock kind of way. Many anticipated a more precise and focused sound that the Pumpkins (at the time in the height of their popularity) were famous for. Instead it all came down in a completely separate and more confounding manner....
Ben Folds Five will be playing at the Tower tonight after releasing their brand new album The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind last week. This is the first record Ben Folds Five has released in over a decade; during the band's hiatus, Folds enjoyed a solo career in which he produced six solo ... Continue reading

Also known by some Tinted Windows fans as "The Red Album." And, sometimes, "The Only Album." If you were to rename Tinted Windows based on the former groups of its component band members, the best recombination might be "Cheap Fountains of Smashing Hanson." Yes, the band is (was?) that bizarre of a "supergroup": Adam Schlesinger, of Fountains of Wayne; Taylor Hanson, of Hanson (yes, the "MmmBop" Hanson); James Iha, of Smashing Pumpkins; and Bun E. Carlos, of Cheap Trick. At this point in time, it seems that maybe the whole thing [...]

Smashing Pumpkins co-founder James Iha released Look to the Sky - his second solo album and first in nearly 14 years - earlier this year exclusively in Japan. Consequence of Sound recently spoke to Iha about the album's upcoming worldwide release, plans for a fall tour, his contributions to The Smashing Pumpkins and A Perfect Circle, composing for films, and the possibility of a Tinted Windows return (hint: the odds are good). When answering the seemingly ubiquitous question “Why so long between albums?”, you have said that the delay was [...]

After a long wait, he is finally putting together the finishing touches on his debut long play due out sometime early next year. The album will be released through Neon Gold /Columbia with production duties being handled by former original Smashing Pumpkin's member James Iha. The first bite of the album is the very enjoyable and layered "September". Stream it below.

There's some serious 90s throwback releases this week from James Iha , Dinosaur Jr. , Jon Spencer Blues Explosion , Ben Folds Five , and Local H . But the nostalgia for the past doesn't end there. Not by a long shot. It's quite possible that Michael Jackson 's Bad25 (pictured) might be one of the ultimate longing for the brighter days of the music industry. Don't fret for the newer acts though, they've got some good representation with the likes of Alt-J and ZZ Ward . That's all [...]
Brooklyn's Milagres has been catching the attention of many since the release of the their sophomore album Glowing Mouth last fall via Kill Rock Stars . Since its release Glowing Mouth has received praise from Spin, Interview Magazine, NPR, Filter, Village Voice, The Guardian, BBC and more. Milagres just released a new video for "Glowing Mouth" (directed by the Piranha Brothers) and announced an east coast fall tour in support of the release. All shows are with James Iha.
James Iha is proud to premiere his new solo album Look To Sky - an exciting collection of sophisticated pop melodies, lyrical sharpness and guitar driven rock - a week before it's September 18th release on Conan O'Brien's Team Coco. Fans can listen to the record with a stream at Team Coco's website . Look To Sky sees Iha returning as a solo artist after nearly a decade and a half, newly inspired, a little wiser and proud to share what he's learned and created. "I feel like everything should lead up to something and this [...]
