There's the kind of House music which can be a little bit, well, soft for me. A bit too ductile and weak. A good few years ago when I was out and about clubbing regularly in my youth, there were a few of house music tracks that never left my side because they were a little meatier and had sustenance. I was hooked and locked into them which is rare for me because I like variety. I still listen to some of those tracks now. To me they are timeless. Full in [...]

T&K , the rising girl/boy duo from Northern France, just dropped their first full-length album, "Magic Tank", full of energetic electro-pop tunes via On The Fruit Records. They are also released a remix EP with reworks by the likes of James Yuill, Canblaster, Mr. Maen, Rocky, Freak You, Segundo, and Boston Bun. Here's James Yuill's electro take on "Little Cloud", out favorite cut from the release. Give it a spin below. T&K - Little Cloud (James Yuill remix) by On The Fruit Records [...]
This week On The Fruit Records released a reMix collection featuring some awesome reworkings of ElectroPop duo T&K 's newly released album, 'Magic Tank'. The whole collection is well worth checking out, for me the highlights came from James Yuill , Mr. Mæn , Rocky and Freak You . Mr. Yuill's take on 'Little Clouds' is an epic, rolling, ElectroPop monster. An evolving analog beast that despite being a pumping electronic floorfiller is amazingly cinematic and emotive. After an icy intro, Mr. Mæn's version of 'Summer Nights' becomes a massive '80's 'moment' [...]
This guys needs no introduction: Mr. Sascha Ring is back with a new album called "The Devil's Walk" and this is the video for his track "Black Water"! The video was directed by Ben Reed, who has also worked with artists like Joan as a Policewoman, The Wave Pictures, James Yuill, Mumdance etc. Check it [...]

Trophy Wife - Bruxism EP By Rosie Duffield Bruxism seems like an unlikely theme for an EP, but Oxford trio Trophy Wife have their reasons. Each member of the band suffers from some sort of sleep disorder (bruxism being the habit of clenching teeth which usually occurs during sleep), and the tracks reference sleep and dreams as well as the often chemically induced moments in waking life that feel dreamlike. The EP has been eagerly awaited by [...]

Oxford trio Trophy Wife will release their new EP "Bruxism" on October 17th on Blessing Force's newly launched label. The EP contains five new tracks, produced by five different producers: Plaid, Ewan Pearson, Yannis Philippakis from Foals, Andrew Halford and James Yuill. You can hear the opening track "Canopy Shade", which brought Trophy Wife together with one of their longstanding musical heroes, Plaid. Beautiful. One Sixth Of Tommy are three girls with three guitars who make some folky noise, that is until they come across Popmeister James Yuill who reMixes their track 'For Always' into an involving ElectroPop ballad. With a sound and atmosphere that harkens back to the the likes of The Postal Service and Folktronica (don't blame me, I didn't invent the word!) Yuill's mix is slightly Glitchy and conveys a powerful and emotional mood. The piano fronted chilled ElectroPop seems to channel the emotion of the track slightly better than the acoustic guitar lead original with [...]
As premiered on last weeks Fear Of Tiger's 'The Guestlist' show this is Bright Light Bright Light 's reMix of James Yuill 's 'Crying For Hollywood'. Light and breezy ElectroPop is the order of the day here. Piling on the world's most feel-good 90's House piano riff in amongst dreamy arpeggios lifts James' vocals and lets them do their job perfectly. The sun's come back out this morning. ♫ James Yuill - Crying For Hollywood (Bright Light Bright Light 'Red Carpet' Mix) [...]

MP3: James Yuill "Crying For Hollywoord" (Grown Men remix) Check out two tracks from UK artist James Yuill - " On Your Own " and " Give You Away " taken from his latest album " Movement In A Storm ". Grab his " Crying For Hollywood " remix by Grown Men (Alex Doyle of LCD Soundsystem + Hot Chip and Felix Martin of Hot Chip).

Described as an artist who is "a bit of a recluse," British artist James Yuill serves up some of finest electro-pop that is best described as an unorthodox blend of melancholic synths, delicate vocals and crispy dance beats. Yuill has successfully mastered the science of combining musical genres that would otherwise seem incompatible. Yuill's new album, titled " Movement In A Storm ," is a beautifully-crafted effort that some have referred to as "folktronica" and "acoustic house." "I originally wanted to mix acoustic songs with Amon Tobin style production, but it was hard to find samples [...]
'Crying for Hollywood', a James Yuill track that is fast-paced but for some reason sounds pretty laid back, seems to be an odd choice for a remix, considering it's already electronic-y to begin with. But DJ Shir Khan and Grown Men (aka Al Doyle and Felix Martin of Hot Chip , under the guise of a new DJ / production team) have taken the song from Yuill's LP 'Movement in a Storm' and given it their own personal stamps. The DJ Shir Khan version is decidedly tropical, and [...]
With me writing sooo much about hard banging tracks, sometimes it's you need some chill out to calm down the storm around you. I thought I'd share with you some of my favourite tracks that usually get me in the mood for a cheeky nap. [Acoustic Chill] First Aid Kit - When I Grow Up (Fever Ray cover) Acoustic music is so bloody hard to get right but when you hear the right song with the right voice, a few shivers fly down your spine and it's creates a moment that's [...]

Coachella is this weekend. As tempting as it is to turn off my Twitter feed or not check Facebook this weekend, I will be glued every night. The good thing is that Coachella will be streamed and a moment won't be missed. On the upside, I won't be paying $12 for one beer, potentially losing my wallet (literally and metaphorically), not waiting in line to use the commode and not losing my cellphone. By my estimation, I would have had ingested about 6 double-doubles from In-Out by now. This is taking into consideration that I [...]
