It's always a bit of a shock when an artist makes a change. We've not heard very much from James Yuill in the three years since he released the excellent Movement in a Storm , though there are people who will be more clued-in on what he's been up to than most. He used PledgeMusic to fund his new record, for which he's deciding to go it alone and release on his own label, going back to where it all started eight years ago. The Happy Biscuit Club put out his first two albums, The Vanilla [...]

James Yuill is playing the Sebright Arms tonight (4th March). James Yuill - Turn Yourself Around (Crofts Remix) was originally published on [...]

Here’s the video for London SynthPopper James Yuill ’s new single, Turn Yourself Around . An uplifting slice of ElectroPop goodness with a rough Electro riff and passionate vocals. The clip, directed by Alex Emslie is inspired by the Greek myth of Sisyphus, condemned to futilely roll a massive boulder uphill, only to watch it roll back down, and to repeat this action forever. Turn Yourself Around is taken from Yuill’s forthcoming third album, These Spirits , which is released 18th March 18th on [...]

As might be expected, slightly fewer tunes make up our final monthly mix of the best of the downloads from MM - no panic tho', the quality of new tunes on offer more than makes up for it. And as always, some new ones for you too means a top banana mix of twenty cracking songs to play in the New Year. The Cheatahs - The Swan A swirling, smoking riff and a rough 'n' ready feel is mixed with 90s slacker indie influences and a bit of shoegaze - all to more than [...]
