In an effort to draw out the season of giving, London-based producer Jamie Grind has put together a collection of as yet unreleased tracks called 'Free Tracks'. The release comes hot on the heels of some outstanding 2011 releases on Fortified Audio and Infrasonics. This may well be the first free EP of 2012 (probably isn't but I'll be damned if I'm going to check my facts) and it's a doozer. Four tracks of rattling basslines and almost-Footwork drum patterns comprise the new EP. If his current trajectory is anything [...]

With the holiday weekend here and the sunshine beaming down across the UK, the Labs crew are preparing to hit the Electric Frog festival for the 2 day electronic extravaganza. We need some sugary snacks to keep us going and there is none better (or worse for your teeth) than the might Wham Bar. As you take time to think about how hard it is to chew one of these bad boys we have some tunes and mixes to help with the summer vibes. First up we have British soul master Omar getting together [...]
Below is the latest edition of our weekly feature, Stuck On Repeat . The premise is simple, we've asked all our contributors to submit one track and a brief write-up. The track can be new or it can be old, just whatever we could not stop listening to this week. These are the songs we've [...]

Here's a few gems I've come across in my holiday travels. We have a few end of year posts planned so stay tuned. Terror Danjah was nice enough to put a bunch of grime from his label, hardrive up grab it here. Grab some more from the stellar Butterz record label over here. DJ Sabo ... Read more

Glasgow's Fortified Audio are currently preparing their 2011 assault and first up is Jamie Grind with the "Footwork EP". The title track opens the EP with vocal snippets chopped and layered over a light percussive backing, short snappy synth loops and a serious amount of sub bass. Hackman pops in next to throw his hat into the ring on "Saw The Light" with it's chipmunk vox and wobbly bass interludes before "Without You" lands next and proves the stand out track of the EP for me. Utilising anthemic pads, light [...]

This week is another garage mix, this time from Jamie Grind . This one stands out because it's a truly masterful mix, in fact it feels like a composition. Everything flows so well, it feels like just one giant track. As a bonus, it's a nice ratio of stuff I've never heard of before and some of my favourites too. Download here .

I haven't been sure how to usher in fall here at Trash, but fortunately the transition landed in my inbox in a rather timely and unexpected manner, such as seasons often do. Earlier this summer we shined some light on rapidly ascending Leeds producer Jamie Grind , whose Sonic Router mix came shortly after his first release, an auspicious split EP with producer Gon on the well-executed Infrasonics label. In addition to his own production work Jamie plays host to the UK underground at his monthly [...]

Yesterday I went to the soft launch of my mates' clothing label, Steady Guy at Valley Of The Dolls. They've done a pop-up store within a shop in the Light . They've also brought in Jamie Grind and Louis Saville from Modulate Leeds to do a bit of in store DJ-ing. The objective was to test the waters first before doing a proper launch party. So far so good. Worth mentioning that the Steady Guy Autumn / Winter 2010 collection is super lush: main headliners for me are OnTour [...]
Ok, we've got some big news here people. Fellow Leeds kids, Jamie Grind and Louis Saville have teamed up together to do a new clubnight in Leeds. It's called Modulate and I feel they deserve a bit of a big up. Christ knows we need summat new in the city other than shit commercial house. Modulate's music policy is garage, (good) house and uk funky. Launching October 19th at WIRE,they've reeled in up- and coming-producers Pariah and Hackman for the night. It's going to be massive. Get a taste [...]
You know, I actually met up with this fella a week back. Just to chat about this new clubnight he's doing in Leeds with Louis Saville. More on that exciting stuff later. Now we're going to talk about Jamie Grind himself. Now, the "sound" - very obviously garage, and its easy to move from garage to dubstep but there's also elements of house - nice touch. You have to know though, that this IS a progressive sound, it's the sophomore initiative to move away from the immature dubstep of today- overdone wobbly, predictable drops and destroyed [...]
