I've written about Atlanta producer/sometime rapper, Jamie Radford once or twice before, so no real need to repeat the introduction. Currently, he's releasing two new instrumentals for a film he's working on, the first "Crunchy White," described as a collision of "crunchy digital synths with dirty south 808 bass," while "Solaris" aims to serve as "the triumphant anthem of a quixotic hero." Both are very good. If you enjoy the likes of Prefuse 73 and Aphex Twin, downloading is recommended. MP3: Jamie Radford-"Crunchy White" [...]

Rory from Ten Past Seven on stage at Mantua - July 2007 Everytime we do our monthly podcast, I'm convinced each one is better than the previous but I think this may be the month where this rings true! Twelve mighty tunes - some old and rare, some new and apparently rare. Included are two b-sides from recent 73 releases, one a Diplo remix of that "Notorious" Jamaica tune from Turbulence (which Boomkat says is rare but I bought it in Tower Records ferchrissakes!) and the Yo Majesty remix [...]

The 13th installment of I Used to Love H.E.R., a series in which artists/bloggers/writers discuss their most essential or favorite hip-hop albums ( read intro ) comes from Jamie Radford, a Georgia-based hip-hop artist, lawyer, freelance writer and general Internet impresario. Jamie responded quickly and intelligently when I asked him to take part, and he schools us on the South. What the fuck is the Internet? The ramifications of the Internet and illegal downloading have yet to fully shake themselves out, but not even a full decade after the rise of Napster, it's safe to say that technology has simultaneously created a flat but two-tiered playing field in the world of hip-hop. The major labels have become increasingly risk-averse, delaying albums from left-of-center vets like Redman, Clipse and many other for years (and judging from their tepid sales you can't blame them). The days of an album like Muddy Waters going gold are long [...]

Armed with his trusty MPC Jamie Radford makes electronic rap music about life. Think Mickey Avalon but less Hollywood kitsch & produced a million times better. When it comes to the instrumentals I'm immediately reminded of Superpitcher &/or Kaito, nice ambient undulating beats to make any drive all the more better. His first album , "Athens" got a lot of recognition & his new one "Freedom To Be Reckless" is filled with personal heartfelt songs all of which can be listened to for free on his website . Here's a few tracks for [...]

My long thought out list. The best music I have heard all year, and enjoyed consistantly. I've tried to make as many as possible downloadable, or at the least listenable. Where not available, have a look at The Hype Machine for mp3s. 1. Jamie Radford - You're so warm [ mp3 ] A perfect instrumental. The one song that hasn't gone way past it's best before date, it still sounds fresh, and it's just as unnerving. [...]
My favorite new hip hop artist Jamie Radford passed on a couple of new tracks he has posted to his website. Jamie Radford : "Patterns in my Saturn (unmastered)" [mp3] Jamie Radford : "Girlfight (Tigarah remix)" [mp3] @MySpace @Hype Machine Bret Mosley provides the background music for author Kevin Keck's short story reading today as part of Keck's Book Notes submission for his [...]

I love songs that use an unusual sound as a hook. Four Tet's 'Slow Jam' with its squeaky dog toy is a good example. So is this song from Jamie Radford - 'You're so warm'. It starts with some lovely drifting piano before you hear some cut up giggling. As the track rolls around, this perfect sample of a kid (I think) going "Bow Bow!" allows the song to shine even further and is the reason I've been listening to this song all day. Check it out. Jamie Radford is from Athens, Georgia and is also an accomplished [...]
