Pigeon went to The Great Escape in Brighton yesterday. If you're not familiar with The Great Escape it's a UK music event where lots of bands play in lots of venues across Brighton. If you're not familiar with Brighton it's a city on the coast which sells fish and chips and houses a lot of homosexuals. Anyway, the highlight of the whole thing was this guy: Jake Bugg . Sounding like a mix of Bob Dylan and Jamie T, and looking like Liam Gallagher before he got old, Jake is one of the [...]

Jamie T - Chaka Demus Things have been a bit quiet on the blogging front (from me anyways, I assume the internet is still moving at top speed), as I’ve recently made the move from chilly Edmonton to less chilly Nottingham. But now I am more or less settled in and getting used to the new reality that everyone else isn’t talking with an accent, I am. After a little longer here, I think I’ll finally be able to understand all of Jamie T’s lyrics. [...]
Buy These Tracks Download "The rest of 2011 is set to be a huge year for Yousef, arguably his strongest yet in the production field. After spending much of 2010 recording remixes and productions for other leading labels Yousef has come back super-strong on his own seminal Circus recordings, dropping the Circus Reworks EP as [...]
If You Got The Money - Jamie T Did you know... Book two is in full flow? Well. Maybe not full flow as in I'm gushing. But full flow as in I'm beyond leaking. No looking back. Not sure why ... Continue reading ’

As promised, I'm back. I had another week off... Sorry about that! As much as I bitch about life and work and all sorts of other crap, I haven't really got a leg to stand on when I can take two weeks off and the weather decides to shine down on me. This is just another list of good songs I've been listening to over the last seven days or so. Considering just how sunny it's been there's a song by the Buena Vista Social Club that's made the cut and it's amazing. The whole song is good, [...]

We at HMCMB have had some feedback of late regarding post lengths. Admittely it's something that's never far from our thoughts, too short, too long, the battle of quality vs quantity. We feel that we want to give bands and their music the lip service they deserve, yet equally we want to share with you, our readers, as much of the excellent music we receive as is possible. So in summary it is a bit of a conundrum and one which we realistically are nowhere near solving. To conclude then, post length will probably continue to be as random as [...]

What a delightful little indie tune. I hear the strumming of acoustic guitar strings accompanied by a slapping drum beat, with the occasional 8-bit sound effect chucked in for good measure. Cue the nasal sounding English accent and obligatory reverb. There you have the perfect recipe for a jolly indie-electro tune, aka "Flea Market". Near the end we're graced with Jamie T-style chatting amongst the last chorus and middle eight. This song is a good un', but conforms to too many indie stereotypes to be considered amazingly brilliant. His lyrics are cleverly alternative and interesting en... Read more..

If you've been playing along, you already know that we're blogging from the road as we drive North up the California coast, with a day or two each in Eugene and Portland before we head homeward a week from today. In fact, if today goes as planned, we'll be wand'ring (and camping) amidst the redwoods as this post goes live. As is our tradition here on Cover Lay Down, our immersion in the culture and landscape of a particular vacation region has precipitated a series of features which connect our coverfolk mandate to [...]
Echo And The Bunnymen haven’t changed one bit over the years. Ian McCulloch still performs like a man hiding behind an oversized coat, and his vocals are still perfect. ‘The Killing Moon’ is still their ‘these guys wrote this?’ moment, and they’re still propping up festival bills when they could comfortably perform far higher up the list. It’s muddy down the front, and State can walk right to the barrier without the slightest obstruction and soak up the vibe amongst the front-row Eminem fans camped out for the duration. They might be moaning about the ‘early start’ (we can [...]

Even with many acts still to be revealed, the lineup for Scottish festival T in the Park is looking pretty impressive.  From 9th to 11th July, 2010, thousands of punters will descend upon a disused airfield in Balado, Kinross-shire for a weekend of camping, shopping, carnival attractions and music across 7 stages. Friday night see's live favourite Muse headline the main stage, which will also be graced by Paloma Faith , Faithless and other artists yet to be announced. Rather disappointingly, the Radio 1/NME Stage will be [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , UK OK, so we all knew that U2 , Muse and Stevie Wonder were confirmed as Pyramid Stage headliners at this year's Glastonbury Festival but after months of feverish speculation, the organisers have at last revealed the full line up for the sold-out event. The Other Stage's headliners have been announced as the Flaming Lips (Friday), Pet Shop Boys (Saturday) and Orbital (Sunday) while Groove Armada [...]
There's really no point in discussing the epicness of the Glastonbury Music Festival . I mean, we were already blown away after the Pilton, UK based music festival announced just one stage !
