As a start of my catching-up, I'm gonna give you the latest discoveries from brilliant online-magazine Tonspion . Here's what they've found during the last weeks: Two Gallants - La Cruces Jail Neo-Country-Rock CocoRosie - Rainbowarriors Indie-Folk-Pop... The Cinematics - Break Indie-Pop; an older song, but still very good! [...]

For the record, Jack is Jack Penate, Jamie is Jamie T, and let’s say the over-enthusiastic blogger is me. Just for example. This story starts a month or so ago with an interesting piece in February’s Observer Music Monthly by ubiquitous commentator Paul Morley, in which he went on about the disappointment that can so often occur when a much-hyped band turns out to be a lot less good than first appeared. Here’s a sample: “A new album or group is talked about in a certain tantalising way, but it turns out [...]

Jamie Treays or better know as Jamie T is a 21-year-old English kid from the suburbs of Wimbledon. He has the lyrical swaggered of Mike Skinner or Lily Allen and usually incorporates a catchy sample or two but his guitar parts could have be plucked right out of a lost Arctic Monkeys' record. Jamie started off DJing eclectic sets of punk, hip-hop, and pop in London clubs so this mash-up of styles in his music sort of makes sense. Jamie T is quickly becoming a big name in the UK. On March 1st he [...]

This is the only time The Killers & U2 are likely to feature on this blog, but thanks go to Q magazine for putting musiclikedirt in its "100 ways to get free music" feature. Apparently I'm "prolific" which makes me wonder if they've actually looked at the site, but its lovely to be noticed, even inaccurately! So welcome to any Q readers, make yourself at home, say hello. Its really not a million miles away from Q here, maybe less guitars, fewer articles on rock dinosaurs, and a black act may feature more than once [...]
Jamie T - On Holiday. Towards the last third of the song, the sparse guitar comes close to overwhelming Jamie T's mic-in-the-mouth vocals - the only thing keeping him afloat the upright bass samples thumbed underneath. Obviously this type of British ennui pop is en vogue right now, but for a reason. The most immediate touchstone seems like it would be Mike Skinner, what with the sad faced white boy singing. But really, I'm more reminded of the first Badly Drawn Boy record - something recorded at home to the best of one's ability with nothing but their own...
01 - The Wombats - "Backfire @ The Disco" . The mighty Wombats claim the coveted number one spot yet again . If " Lost In The Post " and "Moving To New York" struck your fancy AT ALL, "Backfire @ The Disco" (great play on " Panic... ") delivers in all the same right ways. While the perfection that is The Cribs lies dormant, get your masterfully done catchy-and-quirky-as-hell indie gem fix here. | Website | Myspace | Purchase [...]
Well I had better mention Wycombe's heroic exit from the cup last night at the hands of Chelsea. The world's richest club played extremely well - and had to - and in the end the return of Shevchenko, Cech, Lampard, Carvalho and gave it everything we had. At work today people were full of consoling words, however I needed no consolation. We played magnificently in both games, and though we lost

Is this guy a chav? I can't tell. I think he's a cross between Pete Doherty and Mike Skinner. His debut album Panic Prevention is being released at the end of the month and from one listen I can tell you it's pretty ordinary. But having said that there are two gems that you might want to check out. The insanely catchy If You Got The Money and the Streetsish Calm Down Dearest. Jamie T - If You Got The Money [...]

Better late than never here are my personal favourites of 2006. Any of the Top 20 are worthy of being number one, and may well have been if I'd made my choices on a different day, and in a different mood. 2006 was a fine year for music, but then most years are. You'll find a bit of pop, reggae, hip hop, grime, disco, and rock in there, but I'm sure I've missed another 100 at least that had I heard would have been right up there. Let me know the criminal omissions, the glaring mixups, or the [...]

Jamie T has played the 12 Bar Club before. Early in the year, I think, under the banner of his Panic Prevention Disco. Tonight he’s reprising it for what surely must be the last time. Popular though he was before, the previous nights couldn’t have been as rammed as this one. And they probably didn’t have someone on the stairs telling anyone who dared to go upstairs that it was “reserved for Jamie’s guests”. Mind you, with Jamie sitting down on the tiny stage for his solo acoustic set, he would only have been visible to those [...]
I wrote and prepared this the same time as I did my Christmas Mix, but thought I would save it for a Christmas present to you all. Although I have focused primarily on indie this year, that is not the total of my taste as this list should show. As with the Christmas Mix, each song [...]

Here are the songs (or maybe that should be 'tracks') then. I’ve laboured (intermittently) long and hard over these, because it’s pretty impossible to choose 20 songs from so many great ones this year. I've restricted myself to tunes that have been given an official UK release inthis year. The thing is, these probably aren’t even my best tracks of the year, but they have meant something to me over the past 12 months. I’m sure that if you ask me next month, I’ll have a slightly different list, but for now, here’s my song-record of 2006. [...]

So you want to know what kind of music I am listening to. Well here are the top selections. How can one select 5 top tracks when there are so many? WinAMP's Most played list helped but nothing beats sitting for hours listening to tunes in agony. Enjoy! Jamie T - Sheila (demo) Straight out of the pseudo genre breeding ground of brit-pop comes a fresh 20 year old singer songwriter, Jamie Treays. Jamie T as he is [...]
As far as hyped exports go, Arctic Monkeys were a considerable disappointment in the sense that they made us want to projectile vomit all over our Oasis collection-we were this close to putting England on notice. But then Lily Allen came along and redeemed the entire commonwealth, and now Jamie T is on the verge of doing the same months later. Hailing from South London, he's been creating quite a buzz with a number of recent singles and an experimental sound that blends punk, reggae, rock, rap, and pop. Initially, we heard a [...]
