"She should be nationwide! What's she doing?"

I chose the above image for today’s post for no other reason than it is really cool. I love the ocean, deeply. I enjoy surfing and swimming and just being in the waves. This image is a really cool depiction of the elements of this glorious planet right next to one another. A beautiful peeling wave in the foreground with a narrow waterspout twister in the background and ominous dark storm clouds above. Beautiful. Reminds me of my recent Hurricane Irene surf trip, of course the ocean was MUCH stormier. Mercedes Benz (The American [...]
G-Eazy's always good for some absurd samples. That being said, Janis Joplin may be going over the line a bit...but I dig it. Here he goes off about rich girls and Benz's, with his token G-Eazy flow. If you've yet to pick up his previous mixtape The Endless Summer, you're missing out. Download: G-Eazy (feat. Janis Joplin) - Mercedes Benz (The American Dream) Tweet

You've had this nugget of country Americana stuck in your head since the first time you heard it in your Grandpa's vintage Mercedez. You cranked the old window down to feel the wind in your face as you ripped across the highway... wondering how in the world it could actually sound good to have your radio permanently stuck on both your Grandpa's old-time classic rock station and your new-fangled, hip-pop station. Well... Mercedes Benz (The American Dream) ft. Janis Joplin by g-eazy [...]

G-Eazy has just let out a brand new track that solidfies his place as possibly one of the best new rappers of 2011. He sampled Janis Joplin's vocals, put an original acoustic guitar over it, and then kept a simple beat to it. What really completes the song is G-Eazy's wordplay. His delivery is unique, and quite literally like no one else in hip hop at the moment. Download: G-Eazy - Mercedes Benz (The American Dream) ft. Janis Joplin If you want more G-Eazy, he'll be [...]

He's back with some new hottness people. It's G-Eazy ... spitting swag juice all over the faces of adoring cyber fans from L.A. to Brooklyn to London to Tokyo. The swagiest! ok... I'm done with the randomness. (laughs)... just press play... g-eazy.com

G-Eazy just dropped the latest in his eclectic mix of raps a few minutes ago and let's just say his choice of sample does not disappoint once again. Every time I see the song G-Eazy plans on sampling I usually think that there is no way he will be able to pull if off and make it hip hop, but true to form this is another smooth jam that blends genres wonderfully. I'm sure the reactions will be mixed on this one, but I'm digging it right now. Check it out and see for yourself [...]
A dope new track from one of Sunset's favorite rappers, G-Eazy.

Following yesterday's stunning announcement that Jack White had collaborated with Insane Clown Posse our thoughts turned to other oddball musical pairings. For this week's B List, we polled the Hidden Track staff and compiled a list of ten of the oddest musical collaborations. Here's what we came up with... 10. Phish and Jay-Z It’s well documented that Phish loves to cross genres and play with guests, but when Trey Anastasio introduced Jay-Z to the stage in Coney Island [...]

Staying in line with their usual style, The Jane Doze have once again produced a mashup that does more than just squeeze a couple songs together. For this track/video, the duo created a collage of numerous artists that have passed at the iconic and eerie age of 27. Of course, this was all spurred by the recent passing of Amy Winehouse, whom also joined the 27 Club . The track samples these classics (in order of appearance): 01. Amy Winehouse - Back To Black 02. Rolling Stones - Paint It Black [...]
Amy Winehouse' death at the age of 27 , by many accounts, carried with it a grim familiarity. By coincidence or not, Winehouse joined the ranks of "The 27 Club" , grouped for eternity with other remarkable musicians who passed before their time. Jane Doze, a female DJ duo based in New York City, decided to celebrate the music of the club's impressive mix of artists by creating a mash-up using samples from their songs. Head below for Idolator's exclusive premiere of the duo's "Forever 273. Jane Doze's mash-up includes footage of [...]

In our interview with Jay Sweet, producer of the Newport Folk Festival with extraordinarily awesome music taste, he mentioned a lot of bands. A whole butt ton of bands. So, being the curious people we are, we set out to listen to all of the artists he mentioned. Turns out, apart from creating an amazing playlist of folk artists they also trace the history and evolution of Newport Folk Festival . Listen to the entire playlist with one click of a button below using our YouTube playlist! [...]
My colleague Hailie has chosen to write a thoughtful remembrance of Ms. Winehouse. I, however, will be addressing, let's say, a darker side of the story. Anyhow.... This post started out in my head as a simple concept: Yeah, it may suck that Any Winehouse is dead, but - ya know what? - don't waste your time feeling sorry for her or mourning her death. In all likelihood, she did it to herself. While the first autopsy was " inconclusive " (and, as of this writing, concrete evidence of C.O.D. is not [...]

Sad news this weekend on the passing of Amy Winehouse . Clearly she was a talented yet troubled lady. What's been even more disturbing is some of the coverage of her demise. Interestingly, in her death, Winehouse joins the '27 Club' . A group of superstars who had the world in their hands only to see it all slip away through various means of self-loathing, addiction and over indulgence. Just what is it [...]

I purchased Amy Winehouse's debut album, Frank , the week it came out. Not because I knew of her before or because someone recommended it to me, but because I fell in love with the artwork and I have an affinity for female vocalists. I have picked up albums previously purely because of the sleeve and they have become some of my greatest friends along the musical way. Little did I know that the plastic case I had before me would hold some of the freshest and most soulful music I would ever come across. As I [...]

Like most other music sites, today’s post is dedicated to the memory of Amy Winehouse, who tragically passed this weekend at 27 years old. She joins the notorious “27 Club” of musicians and artists who’ve died far too young as a direct result of addiction, including Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Jean Michel Basquiat, Janis Joplin, and Kurt Cobain. Sad, sad times… Hey Little Rich Girl - Amy Winehouse - The Specials Cover - Amy covers this amazing Specials’ track and it sounds great. via town full of losers [...]
