Tonight he's at Bowery, tomorrow Europa. Pick out the venue you like best and go rock the fuck out! Jay Reatard - "Screaming Hand" Tuesday: Destroyer @ Music Hall of Williamsburg 8pm $15 For some reason
Monday: Le Loup + The Ruby Suns @ Union Hall 8pm $10 You guys probably know all you need to know about Le Loup already. The Arcade Fire comparisons have run rampant, and most people including this guy right here have already fallen for them. What you may not know is that The Ruby Suns are a pretty awesome band as well! They've already received the Pitchfork stamp of approval and with each listen
Japanther played my old house once and brought an incredible show into a packed basement. Kids were dancing, people were making out, and the band brought us home late into the evening. Very awesome Brooklyn duo with their own style - The drummer sings into a modified telephone mic and the bassist simultaneously controls an [...]

Check Yo Ponytail! Saturday! This one is fucking schizophrenic - you have a clash of styles that is gonna end in a dance off between the bloods and the crips. Tittsworth & Klever! The Black Ghosts! Ima Gymnist! Japanther! Franki Chan & Paparazzi! And somehow it all makes sense... Justice - "D.A.N.C.E." (Tittsworth remix) (mp3) Klever - "The Stud" (mp3) The Black Ghosts - "Any Way You Choose" (Boy-8-Bit remix) (mp3) [...]
One of our favorites, one of our heroes, JAPANTHER are playing THE NEW CHECK YO' PONYTAIL this SAT! We are so fucking stoked to have them. They are one of the seminal punk bands of our generation and have been a beacon of inspiration for our entire scene. They bring it with every show, thrusting kids into action and singing the most sing-a-long anthems out there. This is gonna be one hell of a show. Plus, KLEVER, TITTSWORTH, THE BLACK GHOSTS and IMA FUCKING GYMNIST will be killing it as well. THIS IS A MUST [...]
Om are in town tomorrow. Here's a sneak peek: Also noteworthy this week, Brooklyn's Japanther have been commissioned for some sort of "comedic rock opera" thing that involves "a high-energy multi-media format" and "integrates live music, dance, an interactive set, video projections plus an animatronic robot dinosaur" plus, well, I actually have no idea. Just go here for information and to buy

(Team Robespierre performing at the Chicken Hut in Brooklyn) The Team Robespierre + Japanther show would have been a great homecoming if some jackass hadn't thrown bottles off the roof and caused the cops to shut the party down. Nice one, dipshit. ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ------------------------------ MP3: One of my favorite bands, Japanther is coming out with a new album. Can't wait. Here's a cover, of sorts. • Japanther - Boyz Donut Cry A band's place in myspace .

So someone recently recommended Japanther to me. Their website looks like this: Then after some typing and clicking I found these: "1-10" (mp3) "Wolfen Swan (Demo)" (mp3) "The Whales" (mp3) "Energy" (mp3) This is what they looked like in 2005: Myspace page is here . Tapes Records page is here . Secret Sight is here . [...]
Japanther . Two dudes from Brooklyn who like their noise-punk-rock fast and intense, and on their latest effort they make sure that you won't be forgetting their name any time soon. Skuffed Up My Huffy is the name of the new album, and it contains the blueprints for your next great party. Energy-infused punk rock originates from the duo's shared vocals, Matt Reily's lo-fi-fuzzed bass lines, and Ian Vanek's chest thumping drum beat. Add in a bit of intelligent sampling, a Casio SK-1, a light dusting of hip-hop and a few servings of controlled chaos, and [...]
I overate this weekend. Yesterday I had brunch at a little outdoor cafe on Ocean that made a sublime omelet for breakfast, and had fancy gourmet Mexican food for dinner (grilled achiote chicken served over a layered casserole of corn tortillas, tomatillo salsa, manchego, panela, and cotija cheeses, and coriander radish sprout salad, according to their menu) at the Border Grill, which is owned by two lady chefs who have a show on the Food Channel (apparently). Delicious! Today I had a Santa Fe omelet at noon and In-N-Out later in the day. The hotel near LAX had free food [...]
If you can't make it to our Victim Dance Party in the bay tonight . Perhaps L.A. can treat you to some $8 Bklyn-style indie rock from Matt + Kim and Japanther , with support from L.A.'s own lo-fi punk experiment No Age . I am massive Japanther lover. And this is a brief Japanther sampler platter: MP3: Japanther - Pleased to Meet You (2003) MP3: Japanther - 1-10.mp3 (2004) [...]
