Game changing, son - not sure what else needs to be said about De La's 1989 debut. In a a genre where original expression is king, this album redefined rap's role in projecting cultural positivity while presenting a radical style and format change from everything released at the time (or since). Homeys also invented the now-standard hip hop skit along the way. Derrière une affiche trop commune chez nous pour sortir du lot (celle présentée ici est la version US) et un titre difficile à comprendre à l'extérieur mais qui prend toute sa signification dès les premières images lorsque l'on découvre qu'il s'agit de la devise de la brigade des stupéfiants de New York. Ces choix des grands gourous du cinéma (ou plutôt du markéting) n'entame en rien le contenu du film qui fait de lui à mon goût l'une des meilleurs productions à la hollywoodienne depuis un petit moment dans le monde des films policiers.
