It's no secret that I have a fondness for Network Awesome . It's pretty much the best place to stream archive TV footage, films and music videos. Starting Monday 18th Jason Forrest and his band of merry men have curated an entire week dedicated to some of the most iconic women in Punk. Expect interviews, music videos, live performances and documentaries featuring the likes of Siouxsie Sioux, Lydia Lunch and Poly Styrene. The schedule for today is after the jump. [...]

Electronic music producer, musician and DJ Jason Forrest plays a free show at Public Assembly tonight (6/3) with Star Eyes , Dev/Null , and Lil Internet . Saturday (6/4) is the first-ever NYC screening of content from Jason's new online TV network Network Awesome at 92Y Tribeca . According to Jason, who launched the website in January: "There's a fantastic amount of incredible TV shows, movies, interviews and videos that are [...]

By Jason Forrest As much a work of art as any record label could ever be, 4AD was a collaboration between two dudes with arty names: Ivo Watts-Russell and Vaughn Oliver. The label was started in 1980 when Watts-Russell was given the opportunity to start a label with a small budget dolled out from his bosses at Rough Trade - then a successful chain of record shops in London. [1] He and co-worker Peter Kent together released their first 7" and named [...]
A return to sample-based mayhem
The long-awaited Fleet Foxes' follow-up LP to their widely acclaimed 2008 self-titled debut officially drops today, although there have been plenty of leaks of the album online over the past month or so. Either way, Helplessness Blues, is one of May's most anticipated releases. It will be interesting in the coming weeks to see what [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

To celebrate today's crop of releases, here are new mp3s from A Sequence Of Ghosts, Architecture In Helsinki, Dave Depper, Breanne Düren, Fleet Foxes, Foot Patrol, Jason Forrest, Jeffrey Foucault, Joel Jerome, Les Blanks, Mount Moriah and James Pants. Also, vote for your favorite of today's new releases.

This week's releases don't nearly compete in sheer numbers to last week's, but it still is a pretty damn good week. Our favorite may just be Jason Forrest 's new album, The Everything (pictured). However, that's really just the tip of the iceberg. Sade gets a greatest hits album, The Clash , The Sex Pistols , and The Damned get a collective tribute album, and even The Blind Boys of Alabama return with a new album. It's an interesting week, with The Rentals going [...]

Jason Forrest had fallen off of our radar over the past couple of years. Not for any particular reason, but fallen off nonetheless. Maybe it's the fact that we had never caught his live set, or maybe it's just that we had felt a bit weighed down by the DJ/dance scene. Regardless of the reason, our interest was peaked when we heard Forrest had a new record entitled The Everything on the way, and that there was a track out there to be had. "Raunchy" clocks in at about 4 minutes, and [...]

There's a new Jason Forrest album out TODAY ! He's been on tour for the past 2 weeks with one of Germany's most exciting bands - Bonaparte - and there's a massive party to celebrate the album and end of the tour TOMORROW ! A marimba, a bell, some sub-bass, a trumpet, a guitar, a record, an archive, a life. The Everything, Jason Forrest's new full-length release, is packed with vitality, innovation and musical daring. This is not a bashful album, it's not following trends, it's arty in many [...]
It's still miserable outside, and April Fool's jokes don't make the day any better. Hopefully this does though: our newest Friday Mixtape features new music from Fucked Up, Boris, Cold Cave, The Donkeys, Holy Ghosts!, and more, plus loads of remixes and covers, the latter of which comes compliments of our friends at Cover Me. Scroll to the bottom and you'll also find loads of mp3s from up and comers you just might want to check out. Enjoy, and hopefully next week will be warmer. P.S. New Foo Fighters album . I've always loved the party music Mr. Forrest makes as DJ Donna Summer but it's the music released under his own name that I discovered first and will always love. Take his new single 'Raunchy' for example; chopped up disco and guitar samples create a genre all of their own. Ever since his first LP as Jason Forrest (the ingeniously titled 'The Unrelenting Songs Of The 1979 Post Disco Crash'), I've enjoyed watching his style evolve and grow into something absolutely [...]
