Should I buy a baker's bread or re-write words that Witkó said? I could make the dough myself or stack old tomes upon a shelf or plant some trees across the land with seeds thrown from my leftern hand while waving with my right appendage to folks from Folsom up to Grenwich. Or maybe I could build some desks for men who like to produce texts of legalese and legal lies on furniture mahogonized. I'll chop the trees I've sown and soaked and saw down cherries, maples, oaks, and sycamores, but not the pears, [...]
Enjoy today's full Q&A here. Last month, he debuted a clip for 'I Am Lost'. Yours Truly The Commuter is out now. MP3: Jason Lytle - Birds Encouraged Him

It's the biggest dilemma since Sophie's Choice! Actually, it's more like a trilemma. Three concerts, all tonight! Camera Obscura at The Music Box @ Fonda. Neko Case w/ Jason Lytle @ The Greek & Au Revoir Simone w/ The Antlers @ The El Rey More to come on each of these later. For now, a sampler platter to whet your appetite. (For Camera Obscura see earlier posts here and here ) (and I'm cheating a bit on the Au Revoir Simone). [...]
Fans of Grandaddy probably sensed they would one day hear again from Jason Lytle, the band's former singer/songrwriter/reluctant leader, for despite its well-documented struggles, Grandaddy proved to be resilient. Now Jason Lytle is back. Though he's relocated from Modesto, Calif. to Bozeman, the fifth-largest city in Montana, his distinctive sound is unchanged. This interview by Nina Gregory.

Gregg Gillis (aka Girl Talk) on a hill high above ASS Girl Talk's first local show in months has been announced for July 31 at the A mphitheatre at S tation S quare, i.e. , the same night Neko Case and Jason Lytle will be at the Sandcastle Riverplex. Their music may be different, but their fanbases likely overlap. For my part, I hereby poo-poo Opus One as second-in-line and, therefore, responsible for this blunderous conflict. If I hear he hands [...]

[Lester William Polsfuss was born 94 years ago today. You probably know him as Les Paul, the Wizard of Waukesha, inventor of the solid-body electric guitar.] Mr. Paul's legacy clamors on throughout L.A. tonight. The Lemonheads [Evan Dando, pictured] are back in town, stopping at Spaceland in support of "Varshons," a new album of cover songs. ... Camera Obscura's new album "My Maudlin Career" is anything but maudlin; the Glaswegian sextet is at the Glass House for the first of two shows in SoCal this week. [...]

Jason Lytle Plays the Greek Theatre on Friday I really enjoyed the Minor Canon record release party last Tuesday. Such a great band. Monday 6/8/09 [Pick of the Night] Castledoor / Hopewell / John Webster Johns / Eastern Conference Champions @ Spaceland (Free) - Castledoor continues their Monday night residency. [Recommended] Oliver Future / Other Lives @ The Echo (Free) - Oliver Future's residency should get a boost from Other Lives. [...]
It's the Weekend MP3 File

Since my absence, I've been living under the rock for the past few months and I have missed out on a lot of great and awesome music. So, while I was catching up, I came across these wonderful finds I know you and many others will find worth listening to in the long run. I had so much fun making this list that I can't help but share it with everyone. You'll find Jason Lytle here, a couple of songs from Passion Pit , great tracks from Grizzly Bear , Iron and Wine , [...]

Äh, forget it Jason Lytle - Furget it [...]

Well I've moved out of Utah forever. It's always bittersweet, packing and driving away - I've loved my 5 years there, but I'm also excited to move on. In a month I'll be moving to Indianapolis and starting my first year of dental school, but until then I'll be backpacking around Europe with just my wife and whatever I've got on my back. Incidentally, that doesn't include my computer, so you won't be hearing from me for awhile. Instead, Logan's going to take the reins for most of June - but not before I leave you with a [...]

There's a whole lot I could say about Yours Truly, The Commuter , the first solo album from Jason Lytle since Grandaddy bit the dust. Being a big fan of the band, I could drool and/or rant like most fanboys have done thus far. But instead, I'll say this: Yours Truly, The Commuter is a great Grandaddy album. You've got the bleeps and bloops, swirly guitars, distinct-but-angular pop sensibilities, et. al. So I give it eight thumbs up, plus a slight portion of one more thumb. [...]
