Christmas is less than a week away and if you’re anything like me, then you love this time of year. For me, it’s a little different, Christmas day is also my birthday. Now, being a music fanatic allows me to merge these two loves, with the ultimate holiday playlist. There are so many options to choose from when it comes to Christmas songs with just about everyone and their Mom recording covers of their favorites, as well as some originals. I will list the twelve that I think should play in the background while opening presents or celebrating with family and friends. [...]

I heard this song every once in awhile on the radio. And I just assumed it was Rob Thomas. I know the hipsters hate Rob Thomas. I hate what our idea of Rob Thomas is, but I actually kind of like him. I probably wouldn't buy tickets to his concert, but when I make jokes about him being untalented, it's just jokes. He is one of the front-runners of a genre for which I have a strange taste in my mouth. Train. Jason Mraz. I just can't point out what it is. [...]

Mae - Sun "Well, you know I never want to miss, I hold on tight and reminisce." I noticed today that I have been officially blogging on this site for a month now, yay! Very excited , and if I do have any regular readers yet, thank you so much, and I hope you are enjoying the music I have been choosing this far. So to commemorate this occasion, I have chosen the first song by a band that I love very much, and have seen the most times live, [...]

“This might be tough. I’m in my twenties now and this kid’s got the most ridiculous haircut I’ve ever seen. Wait, he’s twenty? Oh dear God. Hmm, he writes songs? Oh, they’re actually really fun and well-crafted? Okay, now we’re getting somewhere!” Besides the haircut, Christofer Drew Ingle knows what he’s doing as a songwriter. This is obvious from the single “This Shit Getz Old,” the catchiest song I’ve heard in the last few months, and one that’s sure to be a future fan favorite. Still, despite clear chops in the field, the influences he draws upon are [...]

Yesterday in our New Releases post, we told you about the new album by Elton John and Leon Russell titled Union. Elton John apparently had a great time working with Russell, saying, "It was one of the greatest experiences of my life, not just musically, but emotionally. I fell in love with this guy all over again." I'm pretty excited about spinning the record... so excited that if I'm not too careful, I'll get locked away for a condition known as "F***in' Crazy." Anyhow, to celebrate the album's release, I went back to listen to some [...]
‘Glee’ came back this week with the episode ‘Duets’ and just like the title, the TV series showed off some hot collaborations. The episode made covers of Ike & Tina Turner’s ‘River Deep, Mountain High’, Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat’s ‘Lucky’, Elton John and Kiki Dee’s ‘Don’t Got Breaking My Heart’, the song ‘Sing!’ from the musical ‘A Chorus Line’ and a mash-up of ‘Happy Days are Here Again’ and ‘Get Happy’ as performed by Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand on the ‘Judy Garland Show’. Chris Colfer’s character Kurt also sang ‘Le Jazz Hot’ from the musical ‘Victor/Victoria’. I was [...]
Cover Me reviews the songs from the Glee episode "Duets," and takes a look at their original versions as well.

In tonight's episode of Glee , the crew practices their assignment of performing a duet, and Artie's love triangle with Tina and Mike gets more complicated. After the jump, voila your song spoilers for "Duets", including some big band classics, more tunes from A Chorus Line , and a cover of one of our favorite duets between Elton John and Minnie Mouse . Plus, Mike Chang finally sings! Sort of! Glee Cast - Don't Go Breaking My Heart [...]
Armed with his eponymous debut EP, John Nagle is aiming to find out if jazz can still be received well if it took on a modern edge. While the release is not perfect, there are moments that remind us Nagle is on to something. If he can maintain the riveting balance of pop and jazz found on the EP's highlights, his upcoming full-length could be everything you wish contemporary jazz was: stylish, suave, and actually entertaining.
What has Jason Mraz been up to lately? It seems I haven't heard much from him as of late, but he's still out there. He's collaborating with a new singer/songwriter Hope on the track "Love Love Love," which you can check out the video for above.

Check out the track Love Out Loud by Justin Morrell who just got out of the studio with producer Mikal Blue (Colbie Caillat, Jason Mraz, Angel Taylor).

Wanneer ik me even [...]

The Remedy is een [...]

G5 (above) How our timeline after discovering new music has changed over the last 20 years. Not sure where this is from, I’d link if I did. Click to zoom In the final installment of The AV Club’s cover series Undercover, The Walkmen cover REM’s “Driver 8.” The WSJ’s Speakeasy blog interviewed some AV Club people about the series I enjoyed this piece on the process that develops fandom and the importance of a real following for bands, even [...]

Jason Mraz won't have much trouble coming up with material for his next album. And the next one after that. In an interview with Billboard magazine, the singer/songwriter who hit with I'm Yours back in 2008 says he has plenty to follow-up to his album, We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things . "I've got two very different-sounding albums," he told the mag. "If I cut all of the material in half, I've got something that's fresh for the summer, ready for people to dance to, and I've got something [...]
I haven't bought a pair of Levi's in about 15 years. Nothing against the company...just wear a lot of shorts. So this isn't some shameless whoring out to a big corporation. Not that there's anything wrong with some shameless whoring. I'll be more than happy to take cash from any corporation to hock their product. That said...not sure what this series of music session has to do with Levi's

I really wish my boyfriend could sing like John Nagle . His voice is the essential crooner’s voice and his music? Well, I’d say it is a bit of acoustic guitar-driven jazz with some Jason Mraz thrown in. When I say jazz, I do mean modern jazz with a suave restrained cool and no scatting, so that it retains a slick pop edge. Now let’s get back to that enticing voice. Unlike Michael Buble, John Nagle is not trying to be a Sinatra wannabe. His vocals are more hushed with a slight airy whisper and he handles [...]
