When you think of the Billboard Hot 100 and records being set, does Jason Mraz even come close to crossing your mind? I think not. But it appears Mraz has struck treasure with his single "I'm Yours" . This past week saw the single sitting safely in the Hot 100 for its 70th consecutive week. The last song to come close to this record was the 1998 hit by LeAnn Rimes' "How Do I Live" . There are no signs of the Mraz hit exiting the ranking as it rose from #35 [...]
MUSIC NEWS - Two music chart longevity records will be shattered on the Billboard Hot 100 chart tomorrow (released on Billboard.com tomorrow [Aug. 20] morning). With an 8th consecutive week at #1 for "I Gotta Feeling," the Black Eyed Peas will have retained the top slot for an amazing 20 straight weeks, having previously topped the list for the prior 12 weeks with " Boom Boom Pow ," the lead single from its Billboard 200-topping album "The E.N.D." Also entering the record books is Jason Mraz 's " I'm Yours [...]

It's always daunting writing a review of a multi-day concert festival, so rather than work up a headache over it let's just stick to the highlights. Compared to past Toronto Virgin Festivals which took place over at Olympic Island, Montreal's Osheaga Music and Arts Festival which took place at Parc Jean-Drapeau was such an easier experience. The Metro runs from the mainland right over to Parc Jean-Drapeau on the island. The 2-day festival was operated over four stages with two side stages which were down a path at the farther edge of the island while the [...]

Back in March at South By Southwest , our Joshua got to sit down in a downtown Austin coffeeshop and chat up the lovely and uber-talented Anya Marina , whose become a Popwreckoning favorite since the very first listen of A Slow and Steady Seduction: Phase II (still one of our most listened to albums!). Joshua, PopWreckoning: I know you wanted a fun interview, but I have to ask you at least two musical questions. Anya Marina: No problem. OK. [...]

Friday Five : \ ˈ frī-( ˌ )dā,-dē ˈ fīv\ : On the sixth day of every week I hit the shuffle button on my iTunes and share my five and drop a little knowledge and insight for each track. Sometimes there is a playlist involved, sometimes there isn't. Sometimes we have guest, but most of the time it's just me. The rest is up to you, our friends and readers! Fire up your media player of choice and share the first five random track of your shuffle in the comments. [...]
Sorry, rockers: There appears to be a rock 'n' roll recess declared for this week, but that doesn't mean there's nothing shaking in the waning days of July. If you're ready for a round of roots reggae with some forward motion, or some hip-hop with pop hooks and a gangsta lean, tip on in. On the singer-songwriter side, there's some quiet-but-mighty magic from a stalwart of the troubadour scene, and a potential summertime smash from an upstart who mixes up a mean cocktail of pop, folk, and reggae. But don't worry, air-guitar fiends, your day will surely come again soon [...]

Some great things going on this week. The new releases have been a huge disappointment for the third third week in a row, so I'll come up with something for Wednesday & post the Music News today. P.S. Hoping to do that long rumored Woody Fife interview this week. Getting in touch with him has been a bit of a hassle lately, but here's hoping we can get it done soon. I'd even be open to doing a segment on the New Woody & Rizzuto show at the point in St. Louis. Here's some other Live [...]

I heard this on the radio the other day and I was like really? But Lil Wayne and Jah Cure do add a little something extra to this song and it is interesting to hear the two but I'll let you be the judge. Jason Mraz ft. Lil Wayne & Jah Cure- I'm Yours Remix

After a spending three years inhabiting venues across the mighty Northeast, Farm Aid will once again return to its roots with a show in the Midwest at the Gateway City of St. Louis. The long running socio-political benefit concert will make its debut appearance in the Show Me state on October 4 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, MO. As has become the custom, Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson , Neil Young , John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews with band will perform, with Wilco [...]
The peeps at Osheaga finally revealed the schedule with the band line-up for each days and set times. Surprisingly, I only have one conflict on my schedule for the whole weekend and that's between The Roots and Lykke Li but really, The Roots got the upper hand on this one. As the Osheaga organizers likes pointing out, "Line-up subject to [...]
We Dance. We Steal Things , ya saben esta canción es para escuchar camino al cine con su chica. [...]

Website Myspace In the space of two short months between first seeing Jason Mraz live, and this show, Jason's awareness amongst the UK music buying population had increased to the extent that he was able to headline the main Academy venue in Manchester. Of course with some astute promotion and catchy singles, that awareness three years later is even greater. I recorded Jason and his band 'The Take-It Easy Buddies' from the front row at the Academy, and thus interference from the audience is limited. Jason [...]
Keep a lookout next Monday for Past Show No.4, a recording of a Jason Mraz show I made in Manchester. I've got a few shows lined up in the coming weeks, including Derek Trucks Band & Joseph Arthur. As long as the recording comes out o.k. expect to see the Derek Trucks show on the site in the next fortnight, along with Hot Club Of Cowtown before month end. Joseph Arthur distributes his own recordings of shows via his website, so i won't be taping that one.

For the last three summers Brooklyn's McCarren Park Pool had been hosting a mix of pay and weekly all-day free shows every Sunday dubbed The Pool Parties by promoter JellyNYC. When plans were announced to turn the long abandoned site back into the legitimate public pool it once was, it left many wondering if and where the shows would continue in 2009. Well fear not free show seekers. Last week, Jelly announced their return by revealing a full slate of shows at the East River State Park in Williamburg that [...]

Yeah Yeah, it's been a week, but I've been recuperating from the festival itself, trenchfoot and a nasty cold that may or may not be Swine Flu. There might be a mild exaggeration in that sentence, but I haven't really been up to this. So, it was good, very good, excellent even. Rather than delivering why this was the case in a long, sprawling and unfocused essay, I will be doing mini-reviews for all the acts I saw over the weekend. Diverging all my extra curricular activities as well would be a little too thorough and, er, [...]
The Queen Of Pop is back!!! Madonna returns to the road with her incredibly successful 'Sticky & Sweet' tour tomorrow (July 4th) and Sunday with two sold-out shows at London's O2. This is followed by a sell out date at Manchester's MEN and a 26-date trek throughout Europe, culminating with two consecutive performances in Israel. It's going to be one of the highlights of the summer and in this oppressive heat it will be both 'sticky' and 'sweet'. Last year Madonna's 'Sticky & Sweet' tour played to [...]

Ryan (StopMe): I've spent every minute I could spare this weekend either watching Wimbledon, watching Glastonbury or indulging in the odd glass of ice-cold Pimms. From my armchair, the highlights of the festival seemed to be every second of Florence & The Machine's set , Springsteen's surprise appearance with The Gaslight Anthem , Lady Gaga's smashed-mirror-dress-Glam-Pop- extravaganza and Dizzee Rascal sending the crowd literally 'Bonkers' . There probably aren't many bands that would think of writing a delightful Pop-Folk song touching on the subject of cum (Except maybe The Hidden [...]
