The album has some nice moments, but its unfinished nature doesn't hide. Jay Bennett is primarily known for his work in Wilco from Being There through Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Unfortunately, his departure from the group not only wasn't amicable, it was also documented in the film I Am Trying to Break Your Heart. I was very excited to hear that there was a practically completed Jay Bennett album left behind by Jay. Not that that's good news when I'd much rather have Jay still around turning out some extremely heartfelt tunes. As much as Jeff Tweedy was the soul of Wilco, Bennett was the heart. As big fans of most things Wilco here at ENS, we were very saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Jay Bennett last year at the young age of 45. Jay was an incredibly talented musician who deserves alot of credit for records like Summerteeth and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot , two of Wilco's best albums. Since leaving the band Jay continued to create, releasing five solo albums. He was at work on the sixth record when he passed, and now that album is being released.
