Today marks the first day of Dilla month. Facebook, twitter, and any popular blog that you may be venturing out to check are also trying to put up their sickest tribute post ever. Even last year, Stones Throw had a video contest, and some of the participants made their own 'Dilla Tribute' to his songs . At this point in time, EVERYONE has either heard about him, or finally know who this famous producer is. Unfortunately, because of his untimely demise is the part of the reason why many (like myself, admittedly) knows of the [...]

For kids, toys are seasonal objects. At first, the new shiny trinket is instantly "the best"—both intriguing and captivating. But eventually, after the acquisition of new playthings or just through plain disinterest, they find their way to the far end of a lonely, dusty shelf. Doesn't matter if it's a space commander equipped with a locking wrist communicator, karate-chop action, pulsating laser light, multi-phrase voice simulator and high pressure space wings, or simply a New Orleans emcee with tons of potential—toys get old. After seeing how many hurdles and hoops J. Cole had to jump over and through to get [...]

Tweetvaso link It takes a lot in the world of hip-hop to be a bizarre character, but Jay Electronica has certainly succeeded in becoming one. And remarkably, without doing a great deal. The New Orleans rapper has only had two proper singles, "Exhibit A" and "Exhibit C." Brilliant they were, but that was 2009 (wow)....

Jay Electronica is sort of a mystery to me. He has dropped songs here and there for the past two years, but really nothing else. Everything the rapper has released is pretty much fresh. He has a knack for deeper rhymes than his mainstream counterparts, which is what initially drew me in too Electronica's music. His debut record, Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn), is taking some time, but it should be out soon (I Hope). The Roc Nation member teams up with Mobb Deep in the latest song called [...]

The wait is finally over for some new material from Jay Electronica who we haven't really heard much about since his signing to Jay-Z's label Roc Nation. The track titled "Call of Duty" features none other than Mobb Deep lending a hand on vocal duties. We can but hope that this is a sign of what's to come from the highly anticipated full length debut Act II: Patents Of Nobility (the turn). Check out "Call of Duty" below via Rap Radar and let us know what you make of it.

The beloved underground-rap quasi-recluse Jay Electronica releases new music so infrequently that every new track from him counts as some kind of event. Today, he's given us a new joint called "Call Of Duty (Modern Warfare 3)," and we know he just recorded the thing since his lyrics mention the death of Steve Jobs. The track has a queasy, ungainly beat and a slurry verse and hook from Prodigy, one half of the hall-of-fame Queensbridge duo Mobb Deep. Listen below. Read More...
