Ironically, one of the last of Jay's contribution to the world was a charitable effort in support of the vastly influential New Zealand musician, artist, and Flying Nun mainstay Chris Knox who suffered a suffered a "life altering" stroke . Jay Reatard was found dead in bed at his home in Midtown, Memphis around 3:30 a.m. on January 13, 2010. A death investigation has been opened by Memphis police. When Chris Knox ( Tall Dwarfs , Toy Love ) suffered a stroke earlier this year, it was hard to imagine anything good coming of it. However, a tribute album in the works is a rare hint of silver lining resulting from this tragedy.
