We all know I hate Best of Lists that come out before the year is over so nearly 4 weeks into 2012 I finally present my best albums of 2011! (Still a day faster than last year !) Below are the top 10 albums from my 2011 followed by 10 honorable mentions. The list was compiled by weighing total play counts along with longevity. Not only did I listen to it a lot, but was I still reaching for it months after the honeymoon phase. These are those albums. Since I can't be bothered to rank these [...]

My people, meet VOODOO FARM aka Liam Dirlam. This NYC based DJ/filmmaker/producer is pretty great. I've posted a few of his remixes on here before, but felt that now was as good a time as any to give him some solo shine. Listen to the tracks below to understand why. You can catch him on Soundcloud or Facebook A Day In The Life - The Beatles - VOODOO FARM Remix - Right click/Save link as to download. Click on play arrow to the left of song [...]

With the end of Best of 2011 week upon us, it's time to start getting into the good shit. Each one of these beats held something special for me this year, whether they highlighted a completely different side of a rapper we all thought we knew, whether they knocked particularly hard, whether they put on a brand-new producer that the world hadn't heard before or whether they just proved that some beat-makers really never lose it. Though 2011 was dominated by knockoff Lex Luger beats, these 10 tracks all shined heavy. [...]

If you find something you like on this list, download the complimentary MP3 and click the album art, which will take you to the Amazon MP3 page so you can purchase it (some of these albums are $5 or less). 50 // A.A. Bondy – Believers It's about time Bondy takes the full on band direction without tip-toeing around it like the last few albums. Oh wait let me re-word that; his last two where spectacular, but this is a sound that he's been hiding for a while and it's [...]

P&B Nation, welcome to the main event! 2011 is dead and gone, but it's time to reflect and come up with the best of the best of 2011. Every day this week, we'll put up a new Top 10, reflecting the greatest (and worst?) Hip Hop and Electro tracks of last year, ultimately culminating in P&B's Top 10 Hip-Hop Albums of the Year. We decided to start this off with [...]

Here is my list of the songs I liked best in 2011, which will be the last one we offer here. I only adhered to three rules with this list, really: 1. The song had to be officially released in 2011, 2. I could only select one song for any artist, and 3. The list [...]
Ah, 2011. What a year for music. It's amazing how much can change in one year. Electric dance music boomed as it took the world by storm, especially in the United States, rendering itself a dominant genre. We saw the music industry gradually begin to associate itself with the Djs of the world, instead of the mainstream artists. We saw the influence of music blogs and the way they impact music sharing. They have officially become something legitimate and real. It has been a pleasure, and a rewarding experience working with these guys at Big Green Beats. At the end [...]

I don't often post up set lists from Gigantic, but last Friday was one of the most enjoyable nights I've had DJing in a long time. It was the perfect combination of being able to play the music I really wanted to hear, coupled with some really great requests from regulars at the club. Without wanting to sound like a total suck up, it makes such a big difference when the crowd knows good music. It's so refreshing to not be pestered for shite pop and 'anything good / I know / I can dance to'. Shout out to [...]
Here's the list...not in a strict order. Hope you get a chance to listen to them. 30. Balto – The Railyard 01 The Railyard by BaltoDan 29. Hezekiah Jones – Borrowed Heart Hezekiah jones - Borrowed Heart by ThroughMic 28. Jhameel – The Human Condition The Human Condition by jhameel 27. Lemolo – Whale Song Lemolo - Whale Song [...]

Turntable Kitchen's December Mix isn't our usual mix. Instead of a heavy focus on new music, I highlight some of my favorite tracks from the past year. Unlike last year though, I didn't focus on digital-only tracks, but instead highlight some of my favorite tracks released during the year regardless of the format it was originally released in. I hope this will help keep your holiday travels jolly and bright. Turntable Kitchen :: The December 2011 Mix ( .zip file )(on Spotify ) 01. I Break Horses - Winter Beats [...]

After rewriting this review several times due to a blistering next day hangover, my overall opinion of last night's performance of Watch the Throne, featuring none other than Jay-Z and Kanye West, became very clear. Even through the haze of chronic, the adolescent boys screaming profanities, and the awkward couple attempting to dry hump beside me, the two kings of hip-hop blatantly demonstrated to me, and a sold out Rogers Arena, why they're currently at the top of their game. As Kayne West stood atop of a gigantic cubic structure mid audience, wearing a leather couture skirt, I [...]
Holidays are getting closer and all the labels, agencies and artists are getting mighty generous. Free tracks, loads of mixtapes all not under the christmas tree but right here on your favourite blog! This next batch of free tracks comes from the PIEArtists agency representing some nice names in the scene as Mumbai Science, Light Year, TWR72, NT89 and so on! We already shared the Light Year track yesterday but here some other free downloads! Be sure to check out that track from Brazzabelle, really digging that one. Two dubstep remixes to the same dope song from Jay-Z & Kanye West, "Niggas In Paris". The original is a banger and now we have received two remixes that are blowing my mind in how banging they are but I can't decide which I like more, so here's both of them. Listen and download "Niggas In Paris" remixes [...]
