It has been quite the wait, and I've definitely heard Peter from Anamanaguchi go through at least an album's worth of Weezer, but Weezer: The 8bit Album is finally here and even better, it's free . DOWNLOAD ! Featuring regular FMLY stars Unicorn Dream Attack, Anamanaguchi, nordloef and other pals and strangers, The 8bit Album certainly holds its own but overall doesn't differ as much as I'd like from the original tracks. Definitely worth the download for the old school Weezer fans out there, especially when the album [...]

Common sense would tell you I should put these posts together on Sunday and have them live first thing Monday morning. However weekends are made for more debaucherous activities, and Monday's are at least intended for more productive work. Got an interesting mix of last weeks music that didn't make a post on EOLA, download the entire zip of em, or take what you like: MP3: Right Click > Save As Download: The Monday's Week 27 (Mediafire, 78mb). Music: 1.) [...]

Since I'm not going to be around during the week to post up new shit, I decided to schedule a mid-week post of some old shit. Here are a couple songs from Jay-Zeezer. Jay-Z vs. Weezer. If you haven't heard it before, you're in for a mindfuck. The album was called The Black and Blue Album ( Black Album vs. Blue Album , for you slow catcher oners), and the whole thing was cool, but these were two of my favorites. More info and downloads here . [...]

I won't be back again until 2009, so I'll just leave you with the last mashup weekend of 2008. "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here" by Weezer vs. "Change Clothes" by Jay-Z. I sort of feel like the world has turned and left me here; I've been jet- lagged out of my mind for days. The World Has Changed Clothes and Left Me Here by Jay-Zeezer
My new Spot-on column is up: A Revolutionary Soundtrack . It examines the relationship between politics and pop music and looks at an example from a few weeks ago when Barack Obama channeled Jay-Z. A lot of pop music ignores politics altogether. Some pop music is very earnest about pop music. You don't often see artists operate in Bono's manner, very knowledgeable and very pragmatic. In contrast, politics almost always ignores pop music, unless there's a point to be scored. One issue I [...]

I'm not really big on the whole "mash up" thing. I didn't get into the grey album, I don't really girl talk, I dunno, just never got into it. Of course, there are always exceptions, like when I heard Jay-Zeezer for the first time. "Say It Ain't December 4th" by Jay-Zeezer "My First Song's Name is Jonas" by Jay-Zeezer [...]
