The second mix in the OHM Dedication Series showcasing legendary and behind-the-scenes influential artists is another must listen. This mix - JD Twitch presents Adrian Sherwood - showcases downtempo dub and industrial electronic music produced by British artist Adrian Sherwood, including his work with Lee "Scratch" Perry, Prince Far-I and Tackhead, among others. (Paraphrased from One-Handed Music's description via SoundCloud) There are two parts to this 3-hour mix - the first is more electronic and industrial oriented, the second is more dub oriented: Here's more about the mix, [...]

Following his rather excellent interview for Racket Racket , Optimo's JD Twitch has compiled this rather intriguing mix of Adrian Sherwood's influential ON U Sound label. The mix covers music from the years 1979 - 88 and to be fully enjoyed should really be played through the kind of system for which Mr Sherwood was known. Twitch tell us: "The mix is DUB in the widest (and wildest) sense of that word and veers from beautiful, heart-melting songs to cavernously deep, hard bass pulsations to the odd bit of brain melting sonic radicalism. To this [...]

Here's JD Twitch from the ever-reliable Optimo giving us a taste of what he would have played in his pre-Optimo days when he was resident at Pure. White Light 54 - JD Twitch (Optimo) by White Light Mixes on Mixcloud

Well, it's time to get truly festive and who better to get us in a slightly left of centre Christmas mood than JD Twitch . The Glasgow producer and DJ gets his jingle bells on the go and chucks in a nice wee droney pad for good measure on this rework of the carol. 2) Mz Bratt - Selecta (Mister Tweeks Remix) (Unreleased) [...]

With Landstrumm having over a decades worth of back catalogue behind him on labels such as Planet Mu , Tresor and Peacefrog and Twitch racking up over 20 years behind the decks at seminal clubs such a Pure and Optimo the signs were looking good. It was only a couple of weeks ago that we wrote about Midnight Lion 's new video for the amazing All Greatness Stands Firm which has been pulling at our heartstrings since 2009 and finally got a proper release yesterday on Island's Locks & Keys. But today JD Twitch of Optimo drops his remix which strips the song apart, adding a lot of space and an almost acid house vibe to the mix All Greatness Stands Firm (A JD Twitch Optimo Remix) by Midnight Lion [...]

Yo time to show some support for UKs Johnny Lynch and Adem as Silver Columns and their newy 'Brow Beaten'. Why you may ask? Well its about time you put that Girl Talk mash album down and Robyn single to sleep and gargle your brain with some up-tempo'd cosmic pop. The original offers up some jittery plucking and industrial 90s power vox whilst remixes from JD Twitch of Optimo, Donovan, Kings of Town and Moonlight Matters all take things into their own hands to bend this into unnatural shapes and sizes. Picks are [...]

Illustration by Christoph Niemann There's long been talk about podcasts usurping mix CDs, but that never felt as overwhelmingly possible as it did in 2010. It isn't just that there were only a handful of convincing commercial mixes available, although that certainly didn't help. What really made the influx of podcasts feel so intense was the sheer quantity of them. Plenty sit here on my computer unheard simply because of time constraints and there are hundreds more out there just waiting to be discovered. 2010 may have been stocked to the brim with [...]

Optimo Music continue their fine run of recent form with the release of this EP of startlingly original space-synth music by Indonesia's ' Space System '. Sounding something like Carl Craig, had he come from Jakarta, the lush beauty of this fourth world disco is a joy to behold. Squelching basslines meet traditional Indonesian Gamelan sounds with Moog's set to stun, this is original and timeless music - a rarity in today's musical climate. Space System - Petik by Optimo Music [...]

Capricorn was the brain child of Dutchman Hans Weekhout an experienced musician, engineer and producer. In his early years he played bass and keyboards for mostly funk and soul bands before doing studio work, recording and mixing for numerous Dutch acts as well as for international artists such as Ian Gillan and Falco. After being influenced by the late 802s electronic dance music scene he recorded under the name Paranoiax, before recording as Capricorn in 1992. Come 1993 and he had a worldwide dance floor killer on his hands which to this day sends crowds wild. [...]

I missed the opportunity to post this in relation to the closing of Optimo , so here at a more random time is Arab Strap 's soundtrack/narrative to the big night out. Arab Strap - The First Big Weekend

When I caught up with JD Twitch, he and his DJ partner, JG Wilkes, were nigh on closing shop on their legendary Optimo (Espacio) party at Glasgow's Sub Club. While the man born Keith McIvor would soon be shutting the book on a major chapter of his life, he obviously had his sights set on what lies ahead for his Sunday nights and beyond. Jumping from Optimo's peculiar envisioning of peaktime techno (soon to be laid out on the duo's highly anticipated Fabric compilation) to a strange series of events deep in Madrid clubland, JD Twitch gives Little White Earbuds [...]
