Occasionally, I'll recommend some good hip-hop to friends/acquaintances and instant disgust is almost always the instant reaction. Now, I don't place the blame entirely on their ignorance (keyword: entirely ), because there is a lot of trashy hip-hop flooding the radio/internet (thank you, Myspace). It's been the thing in the past year or so for contenders for the best (or at least most creatively refreshing) albums of the year list end up dropping into laps around the end of the year.
