Photos and review from Jackie Roman JEFF the Brotherhood returned to New York on Saturday with a spiffy four piece line-up. I was particularly glad to see Tina (former Black Belle) on keys. The stage at Mercury Lounge also included Hunters , Shellshag , and everyone was hanging out backstage with a host of old friends reuniting over a bottle of tequila. JEFF the Brotherhood [...]

JEFF the Brotherhood kick off a two-night stand at Kung Fu Necktie tonight. The Nashville band of brothers Jake and Jamin Orrall got the music bug from their father, who has written / produced for Taylor Swift and Reba McEntire. The younger Orralls' brand of music couldn't be much further from that of Swift's though - with a raucous live show and a sound that inevitably finds itself described as grungy, scuzzy and sludgy, JEFF the Brotherhood attract attention through a barrage of loud and distorted but equally quirky and endearing rock songs on their latest [...]

But last year, Adult Swim curated an excellent Singles Program , giving viewers a free compilation of 13 exclusive singles from some fantastic names on the indie scene, including Wye Oak, Wavves, Flying [...]

The video is very similar to the visuals behind his show during 20122s Decibel Festival - kaleidoscopic, colorful, psychedelic, clearly created with design, not just music, in mind. This video features a silhouetted woman wandering through a desert of rippling colors and a magnificent ruby red sun. [ Pitchfork ] [...]

Coachella’s line-up this year hearkens back to the past—not the old past, but my past, to the bands that were popular when I was in high school. To keep in the spirit of things, I’ve reviewed all of Friday’s bands as I might have done in Freshman English at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa. Today’s format? Spenserian sonnets! Here's part I: COACHELLA DAY 3: POLO GREEN IS GOLD The Lord's Day started out in Satan's hands, Black gloved and, God knows, drenched in [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Exclusive Getty Images Yesterday (April 19), we interviewed a bunch of Coachella's DJs about their week off between festival appearances. Despite the various hotel pools, mountains and deserts in the immediate vicinity, most of of the artists we polled, including Paul Oakenfold , Eric Prydz and Paul Kalkbrenner, returned to their studios, toured or played their usual Vegas residencies. The answers [...]

Who: JEFF the Brotherhood at the Outdoor Theatre In 3 or Fewer Words: More disappointing rookies. Forgettable Because: JEFF the Brotherhood was the third drum-and-guitar rock duo to play Coachella this weekend — following Japandroids and Deap Vally — and of the three, the Tennessee brother rockers showed the greatest limitations of the configuration. (Never mind that the swampy guitar-licks bubble already burst thanks to the Black Keys.) Most the set was a bore; too much guitar wanking, not enough audience engagement. JEFF the Brotherhood only sniffed at redemption [...]
