'An alternative rockband" met country invloeden. Wel traden ze de afgelopen 5 jaar regelmatig op in Nederland. Met een succesvol optreden op Lowlands en een enthousiaste avond in een volle Paradiso heeft de band besloten weer terug te keren. Nee, ze komen niet in Ahoy of de [...]

Sometimes we're so busy in telling you about all the great little bands from Chicago, the bigger ones get lost in the shuffle. Case in point is the news of Wilco announcing a new single and readying their follow up to 20092s Wilco (The Album) possibly as early as September. The first bit of news comes from Pitchfork.com , where it was reported that the band announced a new 73 single, "I Might," which will also feature a cover of Nick Lowe's "I Love My Label." Quite a fitting [...]

Everybody Taste is taking a short vacation until Thursday while I visit with my newborn niece. While I'm out, here's a collection of Tom Petty covers we posted back in 2010. Tom Petty is my musical godfather—my Mr. Miyagi, Professor X, and Master Splinter. He opened the door to my musical tastes and education and, metaphorically at least, popped all my musical cherries: my first cassette tape, first CD, first concert, first used piece of vinyl, and even first song learned on the guitar ("American Girl"). To celebrate the legendary songwriter and his rich yet [...]
The band's first album on their own record label should be released around September. Tentatively titled Get Well Soon Everybody . More details here . Tweet

For a musical act, breaking off from the warmth and comfort of a record label is probably a frightening endeavor. But if you ask the Wilco , they'd probably say their new label , dBpm Records, is going rather smoothly. At least, that's what we assume the answer would be as the Chicago natives ready the release of their debut single on said label and continue work on their upcoming eighth album (via TwentyFourBit ). The 73 vinyl will feature a song called "I Might" as the A-side and a [...]

Last weekend at Coachella bassist Scott Devendorf of The National revealed to Spinner.com that his band is putting together a compilation record filled with Grateful Dead covers for the AIDS charity Red Hot. The Spinner-sourced story spread like wildfire with sites as diverse as Pitchfork , The Punk Site and JamBase all filling their readers in on Devendorf's quotes showing the potential this compilation has to bridge the hipster/hippie divide . While Devendorf told Spinner that The National is currently thinking about covering Box [...]

Our first listen to new studio material from Wilco will arrive this summer, as the band announced today that the debut release from their very own label, dBpm Records , will arrive on 7" vinyl featuring their latest single, "I Might," on the A-side, appropriately backed by a cover of Nick Lowe's "I Love My Label." According to Wilco's official Facebook page, the single will be first sold at their Solid Sound Festival in North Adams, Massachusetts from June 24-26. The new tunes will be released "to the rest of the world" — presumably in a digital [...]

When frontmen go on solo tours as rumors of new albums swirl, there is a good chance they'll road-test some possible material on you. These performances used to be intimate moments: an artist sharing something that was, at that point in time, reserved only for those lucky enough to be in the audience. But now that anyone can whip out their phone, press record, and have it uploaded to YouTube by the time the next song begins, these moments have become a little less confidential. And now we're in on it, too. [...]

Check out our Record Store Day guide for all that good in-store information, featuring your favorite local bands like Tyler Jon Tyler, Ornery Little Darlings, the 1900s and more. All that RSD excitement aside, in [...]
Fifty bucks for a Jeff Tweedy show? It's for charity. Tweedy plays two nights at the Vic Friday and Saturday. Whatever you do, don't talk during his set.

While the folks behind Coachella made their ticket holders wait until nearly the day of the fest to divulge their daily lineup , organizers of the second annual Solid Sound festival have gone the opposite route. Yesterday, the producers of the Wilco -curated event, which is set to take place from June 24-26, released their daily schedule , giving attendees over two months to plan their days at MASS MoCa. The Chicago-based act will headline both Friday and Saturday nights, while The Levon Helm Band will close things out with a late-afternoon set on [...]

Photo by brantastic . Jeff Tweedy(Wilco) recently stopped by the Canadian television show George Stroumb- or something. . . Watch the performance and a couple of interviews here .

There is something about the song writing of Jeff Tweedy that is just so pure. There is an honesty in both his lyricism and melody that allows a simple song to leave one emotionally breathless. A friend of mine once stated that Tweedy seems like such a sad man. In a way, I understand that. But I think more so the case, is his ability to make such deep emotional connections with the listener. Whether the songs are actually sad, or eloquently romantic such as "Open Up Your Mind", Tweedy finds a way to reach the parts of your mind [...]

Jeff Tweedy of Wilco performs a new song called " Open Your Mind " for Canadian TV. You can go here to watch the performance and also check out the two interviews . Wilco are on tour , including dates with Smith Westerns before curating their own Solid Sound Festival in North Adams, MA.

Jeff Tweedy 's recent solo tour has already brought us one possible preview from Wilco's forthcoming eighth LP , and now comes another in the form of "Open Your Mind". As TwentyFourBit points out, the Wilco frontman debuted the track during a Friday night appearance on CBC's George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight ; a recording of the song is available in stream form below, or you can watch the television clip here . Wilco's representation declined to comment when we asked for details regarding the other new song, but we should know more [...]

We heard Jeff Tweedy unveil a brand new song last month via a recording from his solo concert in Montreal, and now a second possible preview of Wilco's forthcoming eighth LP has arrived: George Stroumboulopoulos sat down with Tweedy this week for an interview on his Canadian talk show before the Wilco frontman performed a solo-acoustic take on one of his latest love songs, "Open Your Mind." "The night's so young, but i still say we're too old for clichés," he sings in the tune, available to watch in the television clip [...]
