I really appreciate it when TV shows take special care to have excellent soundtracks. True Blood is a great example, and this cover of the Zombies' classic 60s track is made even [...]

The performance by Jenny and Johnny on Saturday night at the Music Box was something of a show by young lovers for young lovers. Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice, fronting a big band of stellar L.A. musicians, played songs from their debut "I'm Having Fun Now," and they looked like it. Photographer Jeff Koga sends along this gallery.

One of the most appropriately named albums ever I'm Having Fun Now always delivers.

(Photo credit: Natasha Aftandilians ) The alt-country duo Jenny & Johnny opened their show with the whimsical and lyrically entertaining "Committed," followed by "Slavedriver," and "Switchblade," all of which sounded fantastic, smooth, and effortless both instrumentally and vocally. Throughout the show the duo maintained a true chemistry that I always appreciate in male-female bands (think Alex Ebert and Jade Castrinos). While Jenny Lewis is an extremely talented artist, she's the type that I would rather listen to at home then watch on stage, where she seems very aware of herself. When the screens of the [...]

Jenny was horny. www.nataliedee.com So when a young, dapper gentleman arrived at her office for the first day of his new job, she made a beeline for his desk. She, a pretty twenty-something with curly red hair, introduced herself and explained to the gentleman that he was sitting at her former desk, which she recently vacated for one very unfortunate reason: People liked to steal things from this desk. It was located next to the copy machine, mailboxes - pretty much in the middle of everything [...]
I'm Having Fun Now . Scissor Runner foi cantanda em grande parte por Johnny , enquanto Jenny assumia o baixo e os backing vocals, no final da música, [...]
Jenny Lewis Preps Rilo Kiley B-Sides LP, Plays Kimmel w/Johnny Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice played two I'm Having Fun Now songs tonight for Jimmy Kimmel Live , including the above Lewis-led "My Pet Snakes" and this duet, "Scissor Runner," which the pretty pair premiered on TV for Conan last year. In other news, Lewis and Rice are planning to follow up their duo project with respective solo LPs, in addition to — and most intriguingly, to these ears — a Rilo Kiley B-sides release. [...]

Last month Death Cab For Cutie returned to the spotlight with "You Are A Tourist," the great first single and video from their forthcoming Codes And Keys . A sunny addition to our spring playlist, it recalls brighter moments of mid-period Cure when it's not channeling "Float On." That's fitting given how Ben Gibbard's got five Cure covers in his live repertoire. In fact I can't remember ever seeing seeing the guy perform without hearing some other band's song in the set. So before we gear up to collectively prematurely evaluate Codes , here's a listen back at [...]
I've decided that I love this album. But I've yet to decided if I should love this album... it may very well end up being another La Roux situation where I decide I love something, only to start seeing it on everyone's "guilty pleasures" music lists. But I can't deny my heart, and my heart [...]

DOWNLOAD : The Belle Brigade - "Sweet Louise" (click through and enter email address) Los Angeles buzz band The Belle Brigade is making the NYC debut with a show at the Rock Shop on March 8th. Here is what KCRW said are the reasons behind the buzz: 1) their maternal grandfather is Oscar- and Grammy-winning film composer John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws, E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark) 2) Barbara is an in-demand drummer on the LA music scene. She honed her [...]

Actors. Love 'em or hate 'em, you're bound to see their mugs every day. Seriously, unless you live like Ted Kaczynski - you know, as a recluse (not a bomber, gimme a break) - actors and celebrities stare you down day in and day out. They're on your television (duh), they're all across the 'net (obviously), and they smile from the check-out stands at your local grocer (ohh). Despite what the sardonic headlines insist, they are pretty talented. Kardashians aside, you have to give them credit. Sometimes they deserve double credit...you know, when they're multi-talented. We're not discussing [...]
The Killers' frontman's solo debut is a dud.
Elbow - "Neat Little Rows" Directed by Mark Thomas. Soundstage performance of the first single with a great, bouncy piano line right in the chorus to make everything all shiny despite the dark lyrics. "Build A Rocket Boys!", Elbow's 5th studio album and follow up to their 2008 Mercury Prize winning album "Seldom Seen Kid" will be out in the UK March [...]

Click image to download full album Sounds like: Lia Ices, Jenny Lewis, Lissie "Tristen - Eager For Your Love" What's so good? I think Jenny Lewis was my gateway artist into the world of folk rock female singer-songwriters. I remember it taking me a while to embrace the slight country twang to some of the acoustic songs, but now I'm a full convert, probably preaching to the masses here on Indie Shuffle. As part of Nashville's booming community [...]
It's been a rather brutal winter for most of the country, so the first fleeting taste of spring we've had in New York City the last couple of days have put us a pretty good mood. For our attempts to spend some quality time outside before we have to bust out the heavy jackets again, who better to turn than Jenny & Johnny to provide the soundtrack as we bask in the warmth of the sun. The indie-pop couple recently dropped this video for Big Wave, from their debut I'm Having Fun Now [...]

The Sasquatch Festival's booking is our gain. In their only Oregon appearance (maybe not ever, but at least for now) Death Cab for Cutie will be at the Les Schwab Amphitheater in Bend, Oregon on Friday, May 27. Codes and Keys , the band's follow-up to Narrow Stairs , will be out on May 31 and you can watch guitarist (and Portlander) Chris Walla talk about it right here . The Death Cabbers will be joined in Bend by Bright Eyes (Anyone remember the 2002 DCFC/Bright Eyes show at the Showbox? What's that? [...]
