Rain of Flowers (Day 139 - Jens) There I was, minding my own business, when it unexpectedly jumped out at me and started making strange woop-woop noises, while tickling my shins with a big blue and red leaf dipped in mustard. The sheer craziness of the thing makes the whole episode completely unbelievable, but it happened. This video is one of the tools for a new, open-source physical-theatre project by Jens Bäckvall and Christian Adelhorst Rossil. Every day in 2012, we will create a small movement or other idea for the stage with a minimum [...]

I missed out on my gig at the Super Happy Funland SXSW after party in Houston this week as my tour bus broke down in Austin, but Space City Rock blog did a really great write up for the gig. I hope people found out in time that I couldn't make it. I'm playing March 25th at Dun Bros Coffee in Katy, TX instead if you want to come and see my show. I'll admit to being somewhat biased towards Swedish musicians, these days; [...]
We've tried them, and have to admit it - year end lists kind of suck. But then, we have a blog and we feel like we should at least try to recap the year, hopefully with a nod to the future. It's easy to gush about our favorite things, but hard to have to rank [...]
![[Review/Listen] – Jens Lekman – "An Argument With Myself"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3867338_lg.jpg)
Tweet Listen to and buy Jens Lekman 's "An Argument With Myself" : Amazon | iTunes | Secretly Canadian In his new EP "An Argument with Myself" , Jens Lekman ventures, to characteristically charming effect, into myriad flirtations with unfamiliar genres. On this first release in four years, as in all his older work, his lyrics carry the songs, entrancing listeners with his strikingly candid and observant stream-of-consciousness storytelling. Lekman's lyrics [...]
My favorite sweet-talking Swede (and his finger-snapping percussionist!) plays a handful of recent jams, including hopeful LP4 heart-breaker "I Want a Pair of Cowboy Boots," for NPR's video series. Video: Jens Lekman, Tiny Desk Concert Jens Lekman played one cut off his new EP, An Argument with Myself , for NPR's Tiny Desk recently in addition to unreleased gem "Cowboy Boots" and last summer's cathartic free single, "The End of the World Is Bigger Than Love." Complete with spoken word intro stories and drummer Addison Rogers providing harmony vocals, this intimate set might be the next best thing to catching one of Jens' famous house shows. Check it out above.
Jens Lekman produces enough witticisms and oddball humor in his new EP An Argument with Myself to convince someone that he's actually a sarcastic English-lit major moonlighting as a Swedish indie-pop musician. Indeed, while listening to his songs, I felt distracted – in a good way – by his lyrics from the actual music, which is a shame because I thought the music was quite interesting itself. Archaic string samples and percussion beats with a more international flare are heavily dispersed throughout Lekman's guitar-based pop. Definitely interesting, but sometimes a bit out of place – this time, [...]

We've yet to see the proper follow-up effort to his 2007 master stroke, Night Falls Over Kortedala, but this new five-song EP should be seen as an essential release for devotees of Danish singer/songwriter Jens Lekman . Full of the poppy arrangements that characterized his last album, there's enough of Lekman's trademark wit and self-deprecation on display in this 17-minute set to remind listeners of his status as one indie music's best storytellers. The EP leads with its titular track, a frantic chronicle of a drunken stumble through the streets of [...]
B+ | 9.20.11 | Secretly Canadian | Stream | MP3 | Vinyl | CD Do I have enough coins for a cab fare down Elizabeth Street? Where can I find Kirsten Dunst? Is any of this madness really happening? Welcome to the waggish web that Jens Lekman has woven on his short and sweet An Argument With Myself EP. "I hate facts. All the facts. We know everything about something. I think it's much more interesting if there's a million different stories that completely contradict each other." This is what he told [...]
Five more well-spun yarns.
When critics talk about the resurgence of Scandinavian music on a global scale, they usually touch on esoteric electronic artists and creepy singer songwriters. Unique, sure, but there's only one artist from that region who truly embodies modern music. The most mild mannered man in Sweden, Jens Lekman, has some truly special moments on his newest EP, An Argument With Myself , an effort that appeals to both layfolk and snobs alike. It has been a while since Lekman had released an album proper, the single "The End of The World Is Bigger Than Love" was released [...]

Of note: He sorta changed the melody for "Waiting for Kirsten" from the live version; this is the first glimpse of the new, sample-free Jens; "A Promise" starts, like all the songs, a little cheesy, but quickly escalates into pure Swedish transcendence; "New Directions" is as good as it's been live for the last couple years; his next album is going to be remarkable. (Hear it at Vulture )
Next Tuesday, September 20th, sees the release of Jens Lekman's An Argument With Myself , a sub-20 minute, 5 track EP, the artist's first release since 20072s wonderful Night Falls Over Kortedala . These five songs are brimming with Lekman's brand of sweet, idiosyncratic pop, though after all of these years they are not enough to sate our apetite for Jens. But whattayagondo? The Swedish indie-pop truth-teller Jens Lekman has been quiet in the game for altogether too long, and now he's finally just about ready to release his new EP An Argument With Myself , his follow-up to the 2007 album Night Falls On Kortedala . We've already posted the title track, and now the entire EP is streaming over at this Soundcloud page . The EP is as warm, thoughtful, and lushly orchestrated as anything you'd hope Lekman would come out with, and "Waiting For Kirsten," his song about quasi-stalking Kirsten [...]
