I felt it was appropriate to talk about Jeremy Enigk since his debut album was released today titled World Waits. If you didn't know, this album is amazing. Already deemed to be in top 10 lists and everybody including myself loves the beautiful melodies and lyrics. Previously the singer of Sunny Day Real Estate and The Fire Theft this is his first solo album and seems like its going to keep getting better. 1. The Decemberists - After the Bombs - I'll echo the sentiments of pretty much everyone I know who has heard this bonus track by saying "THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE RECORD." The most important reason being that it's probably one of the best things they've ever written and fits with the theme of the album to perfection. Jeremy Enigk's World Waits album is probably the most beautiful sounding CD I've heard this year. That's right, I called it beautiful. To anyone who's listened to independent music for any significant amount of time, Jeremy Enigk is a hallowed name. As the lead singer for Sunny Day Real Estate , he became a beacon in the movement towards a genre of music that combined emotion with an epic pop sensibility. Aww, Jeremy Enigk. Ever since Sunny Day Real Estate , I've been totally smitten. I don't care if all the songs are about God. It just doesn't matter. 1996's The Frog Queen took the Sunny Day Real Estate front man into the world of lush orchestration and pop hymnals, but still resided in the familiar emotive turbulence that SDRE fans came to know and love.
