(***** out of 5 stars) Jeremy's new album (World Waits) has been playing in my mp3 player almost non-stop. This is just a small way to acknowledge the admiration I have for his work. Return of the Frog Queen blew me away when it was released, and recently the (unreleased) soundtrack of United States of Leland had those 3 beautiful songs I didn't get tired listening to them. I recently saw Jeremy live in Cleveland, OH (3 parts) and it was one of those unforgettable moments I will [...]

I felt it was appropriate to talk about Jeremy Enigk since his debut album was released today titled World Waits. If you didn't know, this album is amazing. Already deemed to be in top 10 lists and everybody including myself loves the beautiful melodies and lyrics. Previously the singer of Sunny Day Real Estate and The Fire Theft this is his first solo album and seems like its going to keep getting better. By the way, pronounce his last name e-nihk and he's setup shot in Seattle, Washington.. [...]

1. The Decemberists - After the Bombs - I'll echo the sentiments of pretty much everyone I know who has heard this bonus track by saying "THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE RECORD." The most important reason being that it's probably one of the best things they've ever written and fits with the theme of the album to perfection. The second most important reason being the most incredible organ solo at about 3:17 to ...well, about 4:26. I could pretty much listen to that 1:09 on repeat from now until the day I die and be completely content. [...]
Billy Bragg has a second round of remastered discs available this week. Don't Try This At Home , England, Half English , William Bloke , and Workers Playtime all ave been remastered and include a bonus disc of demos and live materials. All four releases are available together in the box set, Volume 2 . The Annuals album, Be He Me , is released tomorrow, as are two Christine Fellows reissues, Last One and Paper Anniversary . The Sadies' soundtrack to Tales of the [...]

Jeremy Enigk's World Waits album is probably the most beautiful sounding CD I've heard this year. That's right, I called it beautiful. Coming a full ten years after his last solo album Return Of The Frog Queen , this album is full of lush orchestration, perfectly placed strings, and terribly interesting lyrics carried on pop melodies which remain compelling all the way through. World Waits is leap-years different than Enigk's work with Sunny Day Real Estate and The Fire Theft, but also reminds me [...]

Jeremy Enigk has been making some waves in the blogosphere and he also stopped by AOL's The Interface, so I figured I better check the album out. I didn't know much about the guy honestly. I read that this was his first solo album in quite a while and that he used to front the bands Sunny Day Real Estate and The Fire Theft. After his Sunny Day Real Estate bandmates, bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith, ran off to join the Foo Fighters he released his first solo album, Return of the [...]
To anyone who's listened to independent music for any significant amount of time, Jeremy Enigk is a hallowed name. As the lead singer for Sunny Day Real Estate , he became a beacon in the movement towards a genre of music that combined emotion with an epic pop sensibility. The band's breakup left many in shock and many more with holes that might not even be filled to this day. That's how crazy people were for SDRE. In the meantime, he's released a solo album [ Return of the Frog Queen , 1996] and an amazing album [...]

Jeremy Enigk’s solo debut, Return of the Frog Queen , is more than a decade old now, but it still sounds as groundbreaking as the day it came out. Enigk gave a visceral new dimension to orchestral pop by bucking accepted wisdom: where most took the opportunity to turn rock into chamber music, Enigk converted chamber music into breathtaking anthems full of sound, soul, and fury. Shortly after, Sunny Day Real Estate released How It Feels to be Something On, one of the best rock albums of the ‘90s, if not ever. Enigk’s cryptically searching vocals [...]

This blog has moved - Update Your Bookmarks and Links. It's been ten years since Jeremy Enigk released his first solo album, "Return of the Frog Queen", so to say among fans of Enigk that the release of "World Waits" in two weeks is highly anticipated would be an understatement. The album has been gaining some very positive buzz due to the quality of the released tracks and the some great early reviews, but it seems that the album still has a biggest significance to long time fans [...]
THIS WEEK'S FINDS week of Oct. 1-7 "Technology" - the Whigs Take the crunchy drive of the Strokes but loosen it up, make it sound a little more fun than hip, a little warmer than cooler, and you've got a quick sense of this exuberant trio from the semi-legendary indie rock oasis of Athens, Georgia. Just about all I need out of this song is that great barrage of fuzz-toned guitar chords in the intro--I mean, how primal and cool and perfect is that sound? Perhaps lead guitar is overrated after all, [...]

Holy shizzzzz! That Jets vs. Colts ending was insanity. I was standing, screaming at the TV. Peyton Manning is the master of the 2 minute drill, but the Colts really didn't deserve to win that game. The Jets did just about everything right (to beat the Colts), and still lost. Joseph Arthur - Enough To Get Away T.O. played as Dallas crushed the Titans. The big news, other than T.O., was the Titans starting Vince Young, but it was a [...]
Jeremy Enigk (pronounced ee-nihk) is currently the frontman for the melodic rock band The Fire Theft. However, Enigk's biggest claim to fame is his involvement with the now defunct band Sunny Day Real Estate. Rating:6.8/10 Modern Music Review I'm sure there are few people know about Jeremy Enigk but doesn't matter because if you want to listen every artist you really have to spend many times or

Aww, Jeremy Enigk. Ever since Sunny Day Real Estate , I've been totally smitten. I don't care if all the songs are about God. It just doesn't matter. 1996's The Frog Queen took the Sunny Day Real Estate front man into the world of lush orchestration and pop hymnals, but still resided in the familiar emotive turbulence that SDRE fans came to know and love. It's clear that Enigk has mellowed a bit since his Sunny Day days, and even Frog Queen had [...]
We're super busy today , but I am pleased to report that my computer should be working again (I haven't tried it yet, so I can't say for sure ), so we should be back to posting fancy remixes and advance tracks and the like any day now. Hooray! My mom sent this to me the other day, she found it on El Chuco , a blog that features street art in my hometown of El Paso -- it's Marty Robbins performing "El Paso." And below that, another El Paso [...]

Credit: Mark Swanson Thank God Stereogum has time to track down all things music on the interweb else I might have overlooked Jeremy Enigk's in-studio performance on AOL's the Interface. Enigk , whose first solo album in 10 years, World Waits , I'm slowly absorbing one song at a time, played five tracks here, including Sunny Day Real Estate's How it Feels to Something On . It's still a little bit hard to separate Enigk solo from Enigk as Sunny [...]
"Pass the Hatchet, I Think I'm Goodkind" - Yo La Tengo (via Matador Records ) "Been Here Before" - Jeremy Enigk (via Lewis Hollow Records ) "Wasp Nest" - The National (via Official Site ) "Oil in the Fields" - Paul Duncan (via Hometapes )
In the not too distant future Jeremy Enigk will have a new record out. It will be called World Waits and I think it will be quite good. Here are 2 songs in the way of preview: Been Here Before River To Sea As the folks over at the Pernice Brothers are want to do, there's a very funny film of Joe Pernice signing [...]
Yesterday brought us a dizzying amount of media products out of the Apple's Special Event, including new iPods, movies in iTunes store (only disney-owned, but still), and a preview of "iTV" which links the media on your computer to your TV. What I'm most excited for right now though, is the sexy new views in iTunes 7. (If Steve Jobs can call them sexy, I can). I have a music collection of over 10,000 songs and in a perfect world all of these would be linked to high-res album art. Apple just made that world [...]
Play it: "The Beast and Dragon Adored" - Spoon During yesterday's Spoon performance at the Bumbershoot Music & Arts festival, comedian David Cross joined the band to interpret the song "The Beast and Dragon Adored" for the hearing impaired. The last (moon) 'sign' Cross used during the line "Great dominions they just want you to leave," although, as I look through my signing book, I'm finding that Cross may have [...]
First a disclaimer. I was at Cleveland Browns Stadium last night watching the college football game between my alma mater, THE Bowling Green State University, and Wisconsin. I also did my part to make sure that Cleveland stays in the top 10 of the top drinking cities in America. Don't expect too many big words out of me today. "What Were the Chances" in the first single off of Damien Jurado's latest, And Now That I'm In Your Shadow, due out October 10th on Secretly Canadian . This is [...]
